***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Ugh, you people are horrible. I go to see The Pearl Fishers and have a nice meal and all of a sudden I may not be getting my phone on Monday. Monday was already a bad day (Heat/Mass transfer test), so not having the phone to make it a bearable day is just bad. :(

The opera was barely worth seeing. Costumes were distracting and all over the place and the singers were in the least emotional state possible.

PS a chart is coming soon

What if Verizon saw the huge interest in the phone and decided they want to sell their 16gb versions only right out the gate for $300, and save the 32gb for later and then price the 32gb at 299, and the 16gb at 250 later on. But they really just want to milk us.

Would that deter anyone from buying the GNex or staying with Verizon?

Yep. Verizon is already too greedy and barely worth the premium they demand in my opinion. I don't believe their network has as large an advantage over others as it once did. While AT&T doesn't have the LTE coverage that Verizon has when you look at their HPSA+ coverage which is close to the same speeds it gets much closer. Besides that I can get HPSA+ where I live and work now and LTE looks to be still a ways off for where I live even though they say they cover where I work now. Of course the caveot to that is they also say I get 3G at work and in reality I don't have a signal at all.

If they went this way with pricing it would be the breaking point for me where their greed would exceed their value to me and I would dump them like a bad habit.

The only thing I can think of is Verizon knows the galaxy is a better phone than the razr. What if they only want to sell the 16gb nexus to compete against a 32gb razr?

Well, you haters are missing the whole point of the excitement of this thread. And that means you folks that are going to jump from the VZW boat.

As a long time VZW/Moto phone hacker, you still don't get it. I am sure my post will get buried as this thread grows faster than I can post.
Has anyone here ever used used the original razr? More specifically the V3c/V3m? You see, big red has a habit of trying to lock down our phones, but with the early renditions, we were able (through our Moto leaks) to go ahead and flash another carriers firmware to unlock the full potential of our V3c/V3m phones (i.e. VIVO/ALLTEL, etc.) and still use these phones on VZW. We could do so with f/w versions (for the V3m, NEWC_01.09.02), yet when VZW decided to put the later 01.19.xx on their later releases it became much more difficult to flash and make it work.

Later, we were able to flash the razr 2 (V9m) to Telus firmware and use google maps with pretty much full on unlocked GPS capabilities. But VZW soon closed the proxies for data. Then VZW (and Moto) rolled out, but didn't release the Motorola A4500 (code named "Napoleon", which I was able to buy through my source as an "Engineering Device") and at the time it was cutting edge. But at the same time I was told about the Sholes with pics and such.

Long story short, what you guys are missing is that this Galaxy Nexus phone to be released on VZW is about the best thing since the Motorola A855, since it will be a developer style phone as was the A855. It has been unfortunate that subsequent Moto phones have had locked bootloaders, which I refuse to own; because I still feel that Motorola has the best radios.

OK, again I will post my information from my contact. Not from VZW but from one who works for the manufacturer (which I will take over any 'supposed' VZW 'source' everyday; as I did in the sholes pre-release thread):

Again this is from the same person who used to work for Motorola and gave us the Napoleon, several Droid .sbf files but who now works for Samsung:

"The Galaxy Nexus will be released around Dec 12, maybe earlier, USA production (not test/developer/review) units will not be available in the USA until Nov 30." My source will receive his VZW Galaxy Nexus Monday from his/our source who used to work for Moto and now for Sammy.
Again, I know most will disregard and/or ignore my post; or it will have already been buried in this too fast growing thread.

But I will take it to the bank.

the Earp has spoken.

Hm... definitely interesting and something taken into consideration. Thanks for your contribution to the thread :)
Although I'm an optimist so I don't know what to think about the whole December thing.

I just wish, for once, I could go into Verizon and say "Wow, this is exactly the phone I have been looking for."

And if they put out a 16gb version of this thing I will, once again, be let down.

ALSO keep in mind that the $299 isn't even confirmed yet either! It would make sense because it would make the phone on par with the RAZR and Rezound, but we honestly have no idea until Verizon says something about it!

Or release it next week. 16GB @ $299 and the 32GB @ $349.
Then only the people in the know and the geeks will buy the Nexus.
Plus Verizon can still make money off the Razr and the Rezound.

Well it won't be cheaper and they won't sell any if they try to charge more than $300 for a phone capped at 16 gb

I can live with a 16 gig, I had a 8 in my droidx and never came close to filling it up. I have a 32 in my bionic and i think its at 1% usage. I don't know about everyone else, they may put alot more on theirs.

Out of curiosity, when did it say it might ship by?

Shipping is expected on November 21. I got 2-4 day shipping, so theoretically I could have it Wednesday. Realistically, the earliest I'm expecting it is Monday the 28th.

And that's if it does ship on 11/21. If it ships on, say, 11/23, I'm looking at more like December 1 or so, right around VZW's rumored release date. I made the decision independently of release date. I went back and forth over it for the past month or so (after the iPhone press conference that horribly disappointed me), and LTE won it for Verizon by a narrow margin originally. But I just don't like the way they've handled it, and I don't want to risk that Google won't make another Nexus for Verizon, which is what finally put HSPA over the top.

They have to be backwards. US=16/32 and UK=16.
If the US is only gone to be 16GB, I would only pay $199 subed.

My gut tells me that the current pages are mistakenly inverted however my logical side can't just dismiss what is listed on the only official page we have even confirming the specs at all. So with that all I'm left with is who knows what it's going to end up being. :(

I understand there hasn't been a release on price yet, but has there ever been a 4G LTE device launched below $299? regardless of memory size?

You automatically took the 32gb rumor as fact.

In fairness, yesterday the US Google site said it outright.

All I'm saying, is the only LEGIT source we have right now is the google website, which states it will be 16gb now. Until that web site changes, I say we will be getting screwed on this one.

No need to feel you're alone in your frustration on that. :) ;)

It's like the rest of the ride: A is true - no B! Wait - it's A! No no - it's B!

Lather, rinse, repeat I always say. ;)

Nobody is questioning if it was changed. Just concerned that it was never actually verified in the first place. We all simply believed it to be true without actually having official confirmation.

Actually, there was official confirmation. Reference the Verizon Wireless screen shot of specifications showing 32 gb for the phone Verizon sent out for employees to use in training:

Yes, I agree. If someone could create a thread with rumor dates and sources on one freakin page, that would make it less time-consuming to get updated. Time is such a valuable thing to waste. I guess I'll just limit myself to "google searching" for the offical release date (10 seconds of my time a day). :D

I thought a virgin was a terrible thing to waste. :p

Bonus: Name that movie. :D

Seems to me like a lot of us are getting a little rowdy in here. Lets not get our heads too heated, life will not end if this phone does not come out Monday (although I really, REALLY hope that's not the case!)

Anyway- does anyone know how the new calendar is? I've been reading all these posts and watching videos but no one really dwells into it. It would be great if ICS had a bangin stock calendar, or else I can always switch to the Jorte app- anyone care to chime in?

Wow. I go without internet for two days and the world completely changes. I don't know if I can stomach going back and reading 50 pages since I've already peeked at the end of the book.

I was really hoping I could pick up my SGN on my drive home Monday. :(

Does anyone else find it ridiculous that a major company like Verizon, who has known about this phone being on their network for who knows how long, can't come up with a solid release date? I mean, they are going to release it within the next 2-3 weeks and they are still wishy washy on when they will release it?

Honestly, what kind of management can't come up with an optimal release date within a month of that date? It's not like the Rezound or the RAZR came out of nowhere or they didn't understand that Thanksgiving and Black Friday were going to be on the 24th and 25th this year...?
