***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Agreed. I would not think of doing this unless I can get something in writing (or an email) that states specifically if I activate the phone, I have until Jan 15th for an exchange. I'm not saying it won't happen, I just have seen VZ do things differently between stores/managers/employees. Since the terminology is a bit vague, I don't trust it as of yet.

lol

Ok, I have not read all of the debate over the 16gb/32gb change on the Google/Nexus page, but I have a theory that ties into the supposed delayed release date of 12/8.

So, it was stated by someone (don't remember who) that there is a delay because of shipping and shortages of inventory. What if those delays happen to involve the 32gb version of the phone? Perhaps there are not enough 32gb phones or there is a problem with the 32gb memory used on the phones. Either could cause a delay for Verizon and/or a website change from Google.

Not a happy theory, just a theory.

So the page on their website isn't good enough?

Perhaps you have an unlimited amount of money to spend on things like cell phones. I do not. As such, I do not wish to be locked into a phone based on semantics (which could very well happen). I am doing nothing but stating fact, yet you wish to troll me with your lol comment. Good for you.

No, it's not for me. There is nothing on the page (or their receipt) that does not state stipulations. My example above **could** prove to be valid. The wording says that you can **purchase** the phone and return it by x date. However, it does not mention anything about activating the phone. As such, a rep can easily say "That was for holiday gifts. The 14 day policy still stands if you activated your phone". Unless there is specific wording given by VZW, I don't trust it.

That said, I'm sure anyone could push the wording with Verizon and get them to honor the 1/15 deadline (even after activating). It's just not worth the time or effort it would take to make it happen if denied initially. I'd rather just wait a few weeks and grab the Gnex. Now, if someone had documentation that VZW would take back an ACTIVATED phone and let you change to a different phone until 1/15, then I would go get a Rezound. This has not happened yet, so neither you nor I can state emphatically that this is the case.

I think they are just delaying it to sell the razr I was in the verizon store today and the guy working there must have mentioned the razr like 5 times is a couple minutes like he was trying to sell it to me and even said he thought the nexus looked ugly and made lke ICS was no big deal and when I said I'd rather a rezound over the razr he looked at me like I was crazy

No more jumping ship guys! Verizon's plan to delay is working if that's the case. Let's not forget that the key word is "nexus," getting our pure & updated Google.

Some of you may pray for CM9 support, but I pray I won't need it. Our OG Droid's were the hit with 2.0 and never saw Gingerbread (officially), unlike the Nexus One. Perhaps the Razr & Rezound will be left unsupported with ICS when the SGN gets Jellybean (or whatever J it may be). Time will tell, but I think the patience will pay off.

Seriously. The first thing I told the rep was that I'm sold on the Galaxy Nexus and then he tried to show off the Razr as if he heard nothing. Oddly, my store doesn't even have the Rezound yet, so the Razr was all alone and I gave it about 5 seconds of attention. Waiting it out...

As for this new 16/32 GB problem, if its only 16 GB with a cheaper price tag im all for it, but 16 for 299? No dice. Sorry Verizon I'll live with my blackberry til you get it right.

So when do y'all think we'll finally hear something from vzw?

16GB with NO sd card is absolutely absurd in 2011. If that's the case, I agree, I might just get a rezound and pray for CM9 support.

Not sure why some would go for the Rezound over the Razr. The Razr looks to be the better unit by most counts. I think I'm going Razr after this Nexus abortion.

That just sums up asking Verizon to do anything.

When will we get a nexus?
-When hell freezes over.
When will Verizon stop screwing us?
-When hell freezes over.
When will Verizon not botch an anticipated phone release?
-When hell freezes over.
When will Verizon care about their customers?
-When hell freezes over.

If you're right, I may be in for a LONG wait getting my SGN. It would take some convincing that 16GB would be enough memory in the long run.

If that were 16GB of free space after the Android OS was installed, that might be enough. But I expect that's the total space, and the OS takes up a portion of that amount.

We will just have to "wait" and see.

Actually I thought activation was always required for in-store purchases. Look at their website, 'activation required'.

Historians: The screen capture looks genuine. If it is, has Verizon ever deviated from previous internal memos, to release a phone early?

It's funny, I had exactly the opposite experience! I was all set to buy the Razr from a sales guy at VZW that I've bought from before and I know has always been honest with me. He actually told me to wait until 'next week' when the Nexus is out. He told me how they had played with the Nexus the day before and were all wowed by it. He said 'at least wait so that you can compare it'.

He agreed that if I didn't like the Nexus I could then get the Razr which he thought was their best 4G phone after the Nexus. But he said he'd rather see me compare the two first. He gets high marks from me for honesty.

Of course this was all before the things we've learned over the last 24 hours.

Referring only to the idea of a problem with the 32 GB memory:

Anything is possible but I doubt that part.

Samsung is the leader in mobile memory technology, and supplies a lot of makers, including HTC (read: Rezound).

Both RAM and ROM (eMMC) tend come in a single device called an MCP (multi chip package).

Going by the AMOLED screen supply and demand, Samsung could and would withhold components from HTC in favor of producing their own products (read: DInc).

If Samsung were having a mobile memory production problem, it's likely we would have seen that in one of the chip industry blogs.

Again, anything is possible.
