Okay, looks like the "threat" isn't being well received. I'll fix it and repost.

One aside. I know this might brand me as a hypocrite or as a flake, but I don't think I can send one with my real name. My sister works at Verizon, and I know for a fact that some of her coworkers (which involve corporate types) know my full name.

I can't jeopardize her.

But I can send one with a fake name!

Perhaps Steven Deuce?
Would Mr. Battle Star Destroyer be too ostentatious?

I walked in to the corporate store last night, and told the manager I was there to take advantage of the rent-a-RAZR/ReZound promotion they had just implemented until the Galaxy Nexus was released. I could tell he was none too happy with me by tone in his voice when he said, that release is imminent. I asked him to clarify, and he said he couldn't. So I said it was well worth the restocking fee to me, and that's exactly what I planned to do. I decided on the RAZR after talking with the sales rep, who told me that they are only allowed so many phones to be returned per month before it affects their personal commission, the stores satisfaction rating, and basically everyone's money. She begged the store manager for any information on the release, because she obviously did not want me to return a phone.

I felt bad for her, and almost decided not to do it. After I thought about it for a while, one thing that she said really stuck out in my mind. She said it looks bad on the store when you return a phone, because they let you walk out of the store with a device you weren't happy with, effectively, the wrong device. That is when I made my decision to Rent-a-RAZR. Honestly, I may return this for a ReZound even if the GNEX doesn't come out soon enough though. While I don't care anything about the overpriced headphones, the dual core processor did make the phone very fast, and the screen is pretty damn good IMO.

which store did you go to?

Hi Chaps. Just thought i'd pop in.

Picked mine up sim fee this morning (Manchester UK)

Please tell me your kidding you would pay 299 for a 16gb version and 399 for 32. Maybe after you pay that they can charge 399 for an 8gb quad core and 499 for 16gb in febuary. All your doing by paying more for less is giving verizon the power to bend you over farther.

So in summary you would willingly pay 299 for a phone that has so so camera, an older gpu, a decent processor, and at this rate ics for about 2 weeks longer then the rezound and razr. Don't forget the next best thing around the corner is quad core which will be a dramatic improvement, not your 1 ghz dual to 1.4 ghz slightly better normal improvement.

My dinc runs pretty smooth with all its old tech and bloat so I am reconsidering the sgn. I had thought it would be the best of the best, but after the reviews of the camera, the quiet speaker phone, lack of flash player, I don't know if its the phone for me. Now that i have read ics will be able to utilize the capacitive buttons and do away with its on screen buttons this means screen size is now also equal for web browsing and such. At any rate I will surely not pay 299 for 16gb when both other phones offer atleast similar specs and operating systems.

Honestly Puchkey, the Rezound is a great phone. I've "rented" one for the time being and I love everything about it, the weight, the speed and even the looks (albeit a little dated). I'm waiting for Monday and if we get at least a preorder, I'll stay the course and get the GNex. That's where I stand right now.

Pracis, any reason for this over the Razr?

Good morning my disillusioned friends. I am going to be cautiously optimistic for a monday release in some way, shape or form but in my heart and gut I just don't feel it.
That being said, I have to go put some time in at work today to try to catch up on what I didn't do this week (which was quite a bit).
I will check in as frequently as possible.

PS - Ben & Jerrys Late Night Snack ice cream is really really good IMHO (I had it last night after shopping)

Good Morning!

Personally I'd go with the Razr for one important reason, the radios in the Motorolas seem to be better. Frankly, I've never seen anyone express concern about the radio in the Nexus and that really shocks me...after all, it is a Samsung. From my experience with the Charge and the Bionic, the Motorola is clearly using a better radio and has less issues in picking up 4G or making the 3G>4G switch. The 2 Samsungs I've had have also had tremendous issues with accurate and quick GPS...they've been neither.

My Samsung Charge was a nightmare for these issues as many many owners can attest to. I'm still worried about that with the Nexus. After all, this is still a phone first and must be adept at capturing that 4G signal.

I 100% agree. The Samsung Charge radio was horrible for me. I am in a solid 4G area, and would often see the phone cycling from 3G to 4G back and forth.

With my new RAZR - no such problem. 4G all the time. The rare occasion I get bumped to 3G (like in an elevator), it switches back to 4G within seconds.

I am really afraid the Nexus will have the same weak radio as the Charge.

Yea, i was thinking the same thing. Monday morning might be the best time to launch and we could advertise on here to prep for a monday morning email petition to be sent to verizon...once everyone comes back from the weekend. Monday..we could get a strong amount of emails sent out + a really good version of it finally done. Looks good to me already.

The only problem I foresee with this is that all of these Exec's will be on vacation all next week to some place warm with their 8 figure salaries enjoying beach time. Their underlings, who have 7 figure salaries, will get these and not know what to do with them...

I'll give it till next week and i'm headed over there... my refurb X2 (supposed dual core phone) is stupidly slow.

There was another couple that walked in right behind me and I heard them say they were planning to do the same thing. She sold two RAZR's that she knew would be returned. I know the store manager is pissed, but there is nothing he can do. One thing she hinted at though, is that the double data promotion would most likely end before Black Friday, so at least I am grandfathered in there.

I think I am done with this phone. I might buy it if the updates are still coming from Google but at this point panda says that this phone is not even a Nexus anymore due to Verizon. I am not going to buy this to wait for updates.

I am currently 5 months into my contract and was given an early upgrade so I am going to use my last upgrade and after this contract runs out I am going to Att. Verizon really knows how to mess up. I am thinking about just going with an Iphone at this point.

I've been off contract with VZW for over a year with two lines. I'm also going to see what the SGSII is like at AT&T. I do value my grandfathered status at VZ though. If only AT&T woulf match my current plan. No harm in looking.

I really wanted this phone. I'm not angry though, just in disbelief at the sheer ignorance of VZW...unreal. lol
