Root GB OTA has started if you are rooted stock please read this

Awesome, that worked. Thanks.
I don't have time right now, but I'll have to flash a new ROM later. I'm sure I will be back with questions.

Got to Step 7 and phone will not reboot. Get an error message - The Process htc.bg has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Option to Force Close then get Process android.process.acore stopped and can't get past that. Pulled the battery and got the same thing. What do I need to do now?

I didn't know what Verify MD5 meant. I did all in step 5 except Format System - couldn't find anywhere under Advanced and didn't know what IIRC meant.

Was going to try and boot as disk drive and copy over the original PMG file and see if that gets it to boot up.

IIRC - If I Recall Correctly

I think it is under advanced then mounts and storage. Try booting back into recovery and wiping /system as well as cache, dalvik, and /data again and reflashing to get it to boot.

Yes it will keep trying. You need to wipe /system to get the stock rooted rom to work otherwise it will not boot for you.

OK. Before I try this again, I rooted in August for the first time from a sticky here in All Things Root. Can't tell you which method but I am on Stock Root Froyo I believe. Android Version 2.2.1. Do I need to flash a stock recovery before starting your process in the OP? Also, I saw where you download from RootzWiki that the Radio's aren't included. Where would I get those and would those be uploaded after the Reboot in Step 7?

You need to have a custom recovery (CWM, TWRP...) to flash a rom, you can do nothing with the stock recovery. Download the radio from the recoveries, radios, and hboots thread. I will find a link if you need me to. You can flash the radios or the rom first but download both before flashing either (I would suggest doing the radio first personally so once you get the rom flashed you can sign into google be good to go)

CWM (ClockworkMod Recovery)? I have v4.0.1.5 which is what I used.

im on a liquid smooth rom and i just want to know if i could flash this new stock rooted rom with no problems on my phone ... i got a gb radio on it , i just want to use the stock rom for now till i can get gps lol

You could just do the GPS fix to get GPS to work, flash a sense rom get a GPS fix in google maps then restore the backup of Liquid.

To run the stock rom just follow the directions I posted in the OP, be sure to wipe all 4 partitions I listed.

Pull your battery. Boot into recovery. Wipe cache and dalvik. then you should be able to boot. Download the rom linked in the OP and follow the directions to flash it. Be sure to make a backup. If you get stuck on the splash screen restore your backup. If you actually check the MD5 before flashing and it matches but you get hung on the splash screen you need to update your recovery.

Format system should be in recovery. Revolutionary is the program used to root.

If you are in recovery check under advanced then "mounts and storage" for format system.

oh yea ... lol thanks i got it on the stock rom now .. i like the custom roms but wanted to try the new system out :) .. and your instructions were perfect thank you !

to accept the OTA:
1)download the recovery that matches the firmware
2)check its md5
3)move to root of sd card,rename PG05IMG
4)check md5 again with scary aliens AFV(avaialble in the market)
5)power phone off, then boot into hboot via power on/volume down
6)chose yes to update with vol up
7)when finished reboot
9)immediately remove or rename PG05IMG
10)collect underpants
11)??
12)proffits! :D
13)wait for OTA and let it happen. if it fails your best bet is to install the rooted rom as described in post 1

*note in order for it to work, youll need to be on mr2 radios, and the OTA will have to start from the point where it downloads the new firmware,as wiping the caches had wiped it from the phones memory. it may try and install, but wont do so unless it redownloads, complete with the arrow in the status bar,and the green bar in the pull down showing progress.

Ok, so I am step 4 right now, and I notice that the md5 is not a3320797390e3d746a67fda915854b16. Instead, it reads another value of 34ac4e80cfcb92409d15f20799cb883, according to the AFV "Calc MD-5 Checksum". What should I do now? Is this ok, or is there a way to change it?

If the MD5 doesn't match there is a problem with the file, it was corrupted, delete and download again otherwise you could cause yourself lots of issues.

The file is still in zip format correct?

Edit: Welcome to AF :D
