***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I think it got lost in the edits, but the demand for a response by "whatever day" is fair. See: How To Write A Complaint Letter - The Consumerist

You need a call to action, otherwise it just looks like a bunch of demands and Verizon can just sit it out. I would also recommend keeping the statement about using their holiday return policy as a rental period, as well as the threat to switch carriers.

It all depends on whether you want the phone released in December (outside of what Google said and probably after the "double your data" promo) or possibly released earlier. We certainly need an explanation if they're going to release it in December, since it's already out in Europe and Canada already has a release date. If nothing else, the lack of any official statement regarding release date/pricing/specs is very unlike the nature of previous Nexus phones and Google as a whole.

Totally had a dream I was at walmart and they had the phone there that said "releasing on 12/1" ughh I am almost tempted to go look clearly knowing how ridiculous that is. haha. Oh, America. What we do for phones.

Thanks Rob & Phases! We can all use a dose of reality from time to time :)

I think we can settle down now, and get back to Nexus: this phone will be released when it's ready to be released.

Issues and all. If you look at the other threads in this forum, there ARE issues cropping up. The more time it takes to release, the more time Google has to fix them. All this time is not being wasted, I'm sure.

Back to our scheduled programming...

Good to be back! Yeah, I had a feeling that the owner wouldn't be a big fan of the letter "on behalf of Android Forums." LOL

So now that we've covered the fly-byes and we're out of timeout, my buddy who works in sales for VZW just let me know that they received training on GNex last week, and have had accessories in stock for 2 weeks now. However, no sign of the phone and they have received *NO* information from corporate on *ANY* release date.

To me, it seems more and more doubtful that the screen shot with the December 8th release date was legit. I'm still thinking that "leak" is a hoax, regardless of whether the GNex actually winds up releasing around that time-frame.

Edit: Here's what he said about the typical timeline between getting the training and accessories and the device arriving:
Usually a week but clearly that's not the case here haha

I've changed a couple parts to make it a little more professional and respectful:

Making demands makes people look the other way. Making a request makes people at least listen. And requesting is more tactful than demanding.

The last part sounds too much like an immature threat (from a professional standpoint), so I've reworded it as well:

Other than the above changes, very well written, Han.

My two pennies. :)

Thanks for the edits, but that wasn't my version. :p

who knew HanSolo was such a rebel...oh wait...

Sorry guys. :(

In the end, I think Rob's idea would be much more beneficial and likely to get someone's attention.

I move that we scrap the mass email idea.

An additional note while I have everyone's attention. :P

Let's try to cut back on filling this thread with "milestone" posts. What good is a certainly milestone (say, 40k replies), if half those replies are all about making that milestone, then hitting the milestone, then congratulating each other for being the ones to hit it?

That doesn't help reflect ongoing anticipation of a device at all - but rather the commitment of participants to hit the milestones.

We've agreed to let this thread have plenty of off-topic banter, but that sort of stuff should stop. Or at the very very least, no longer be encouraged. This thread is already hard enough to keep up with for outside viewers, and like I said, it truly does skew anticipation more than regular "we're just hanging around" OT posts.

Hope I'm not being a downer here and that most see my point.
Cheers!

I have to respectfully disagree with this. You have built a community here of people who rely on your site for information. It is exactly the "hanging around" feeling that keeps most of us coming back and creating friendships that enhances the community feeling of your site. I think it is shortsighted to discourage this type of behavior.

I am here because of the experience I had when waiting for the Incredible to release. The people here and the ability to develop friendships with dedicated fans who are experiencing this with you is what sets Android Forums apart from all the others. Please don't lose what has been built.

And I half agree with Phases post about the big numbers and what we do for it. It's hard to weed through that for newcomers or our ever present lurkers BUT it does diffuse tension at times as well.

I think that's a great sign! We have to remember that the employees are most likely kept in the dark about when the confirmed (if there is) release date is set because of leaks. Training last week and accessories? Sounds like any day to me :D

edit: the parliamentarian in me couldn't resist

Daughter's droid2global screwed up, so tryed to activate my x2 for her online and it wouldn't let me. I had to call in and have it done so I had to ask about the nexus, she looked it up but of course no info about it. Also anyone see the droid life tweet about 16 gig being US only.

So let's summarize:
32 Gb version still in question or no?
Flash issue seems to be resolved according to Slashgear - it will be coming to ICS
December 8th release date still a possibility
Hoping for a pre-order sometime this week
Anything else??

Pestering Verizon, either nicely or negatively won't make the GNex come any faster.

That's fact.

However, pestering them negatively will only reflect badly on us.

If they would just give a date I would be fine with that, even if that date is in 2012.
