CK made his choice for the RAZR, is happy about it, and we should all support him. Not just for his choice, but also for a lot of effort and enthusiasm, and even more reality checks :D early on in this thread. He was one of us from the beginning.

I honestly believe he was coming in here for some words of encouragement, not to gloat. So we should keep the tone friendly.

I'm still using the Razr, and to be honest I will miss some features it has I wish the Nexus had the Kevlar back and the nano coating.

I'm far behind on the thread right now and this line of thinking is all well and good but for those people (me included) who do not already have unlimited data it just doesn't work in a practical way. If the plan is to put everything in the cloud I am completely fine with that, but not when there is a simultaneous trend in the industry to restrict data. One or the other, but those two things don't go together.

If they want to give me an 8-16gb internal storage device, cloud storage and unlimited data then great but for those people without unlimited data this trend is going to completely screw them.

Exactly! If they will bring back unlimited data, give me 8gb internal storage, I dont give a damn! I would be content with everything being in the cloud. I'm sure Verizon would not like this scenario though lol.

2) By not releasing this phone now or ever for that matter they might lose at absolute most 500 contracts. By lowering standards to what others have accepted they will surely lose more in the long run. At least more money with returns and replacement devices.

500? where did you pull that number from?

Ok guys. I've been thinking about the whole Verizon being tight lipped about release date and the 16gb vs 32gb thing logically and here are some thoughts as to why we may have the blame directed entirely in the wrong direction..... as much as I hate Verizon it may actually not be their fault.

Do you guys really think Verizon is just sitting on a stock pile of these phones and they aren't saying anything about them to sell other devices (that yield the same contract dollars) while pissing us off? I don't think so. If the phones are done and plentiful, why is the UK having issues with them not being availible until december 1st and no sight of a 32gb model (pre-order only)

Google Samsung Galaxy Nexus 32GB (Black) Deals, #GALNEXUS32 - Expansys.com UK
notice this site has the 16gb only availible on December 1st and the 32gb model with no release date.

I think Verizon chose to only offer the 32gb model (which is a good thing) and Google/Samsung for some reason is only producing the 16gb model right now and Verizon is still waiting for the 32gb stock to come in and the hold up is on Google/Samsungs end. Verizon refuses to give a launch date because they dont have one!! they still have not received their stock and don't want to give a date they can't hit. All the while, google/samsung are laughing their ass off while we direct our anger at Verizon while the real problem is probably with google/samsung.

would explain why the developer models were only 16gb, if what p3droid is true and the developer LTE devices are 16gb.

I feel we need to start directing our agravation towards Google/Samsung.

Thanks for posting a possible reason for the delay. Right now, everything is conjecture and we are getting ourselves worked up for dates that we tend to believe from leaked rumors.

My point all along has been that Verizon isn't necessarily the bad guy, that there are other factors at play (some possibly in Verizon's court, others not so). I've been in the electronics industry long enough to know when there are delays in product releases. Some are your fault, other issues may be with suppliers and 3rd parties.

I'm not ready to throw Verizon under the bus at this point.

If Verizon was worried about what we have to say about them, they would just make a little announcement that there aren't enough 32gb phones to go around yet and when there is enough they will launch them. They all have been terrible about this but being totally silent while the rest of the world gets the phone isn't the move if you want people to not dislike you.

To be clear, I wasn't saying cut back on the OT posts and keep this thread on topic. I was saying let's try to cut back on the posts that are obviously there only to encourage others to post superfluously.. just to bump the # of replies for these milestones.

Post OT all you want, just wanted people to remember this isn't the "Let's count to a million!" thread.

:)

I think we're just trying to count to 50,000. :D

I just got off the phone with my friend from Verizon. Even though I normally don't bother him with questions (he hates discussing work) I actually did this time. Now, I am paraphrasing big time here, but this is more or less what he was telling me.

On the subject of 32GB he told me that this is the only version he has ever known about. There was never a discussion about a 16GB option in any meeting he ever attended. He reminded me that that doesn't mean there isn't one, but that all references made to the specs of the device he has talked about or was talked to about had 32GB of memory on board.

On the subject of bloatware and delays he told me that the My Back Up Assistant app is planned to be Verizon's version of iCloud. The latest is supposed to support document and picture backup and not just contacts. He also mentioned future plans of being able to back up almost everything. While he didn't say that he specifically knew of any delays due to software he said that Verizon is determined to have this app on every phone they sell, including future versions of the iPhone. He also stated that he was not aware of any delays at the moment, but did say that there are plenty of stores/employees that have not had any sort of training on the device yet.

No release date info beyond the typical, don't worry it is coming soon that I usually hear.

So that is what I have for you guys today. :D

I don't like the My Backup Assistant talk. Why can't carriers leave us alone and not try to push their stuff on us.

I think that could be the issue as it seems like a relatively low level program on my wifes charge. Add on top of that the fact we KNOW contacts is totally REWORKED on ICS and it just smells like something that could causing issues. This is part of why I don't like OEM skins and is now why I hate network software.

It isn't even as big a deal if a phone has expandable storage but if they are really going to only have a 16gb option (I still DO NOT believe they would actually do this) and no expandable storage that just isn't right for a top end phone. Hopefully the poster who said maybe the issue is they are having trouble getting enough of the 32gb phones for launch is correct.

First time I (respectfully) disagree with you nj02vette. To me the intent of those posts is evident. At the minimum he's being hypocritical in suggesting we spend too much time posting on a message board.

I've gained a lot of insight from CK's contributions to AF. But these posts came from a different place and have a bit of stink on them. The way some people are feeling in here, those types of comments are inflammatory.

I agree, being silent is NOT the answer. Maybe they just don't want to sling mud at Google/Samsung.

Google/Samsung, however, are also being silent, yet no one seems to blame them for that.

All three of these companies need to grow a pair and just state the truth, no matter whose fault it is, and just let us know what the hold up is.

Back to the VZW extended return policy -

I just stopped by my local corporate store and picked up a Rezound to keep me occupied while we wait on the GN. I specifically asked if the extended return policy was for activated phones. The salesman said yes, his manager said yes.

It's not a problem.

Now, I have say the rezound has a really nice screen and is lighting fast. I'm not sure that the GN could really be much better in those departments - or, at least, if it would be noticeable. As for the "thickness".... ya... it's not really an issue.

If it wasn't for the NFC and ICS I would probably stick with this thing.

Ok guys... I want to clarify.. I just heard from our administrator...

Off topic chat's okay.... So, DON'T BE DISCOURAGED FROM POSTING.

Posts about how many posts and views we have? (I'm the chief ringleader here): not so much.

So, I don't mind if you like get the 40kth post and mention it with a picture of fireworks or something, but 20 posts about it aren't going to cut it and we'll probably delete them anyway.

Capish?

Exactly. I don't think Verizon should sling mud and I also wouldn't want Samsung/Google to sling it at Verizon because it just creates problems down the road on future projects, but just ignoring all of it while the rest of the world is getting the phone is just annoying at the very least. It is just human nature that people don't like bad communication/no communication. It doesn't work in life and it doesn't work as a business model either.
