***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

An alternative to support Android Forums is to become a Premium Member ;)

Yep. Had the person posting been a premium member, I wouldn't have even commented.

We evaluated the premium membership at our site but discovered that the members most likely to buy a premium subscription were generating more in ad revenue than we could possibly reasonably charge them in a year because those are the most likely members to be generating dozens of page views a day. That's probably why AF doesn't completely remove the ads for the premium memberships.

There may be some smaller regional carriers that could use it (I honestly have no idea which ones or where), but an import definitely wouldn't work on Sprint or Verizon.

There should not be any incompatible GSM carriers in the US. I suppose it's possible but the small carriers need to roam on the big networks, so it's unlikely.

No. I somehow use quite a bit of my data and don't want to lose the unlimited.

And that is the only thing keeping me from switching. Moving carriers is still starting to look better and better with each day that brings no more information than the last, though.

The way I see it is, apparently the Canadians (god bless their souls..) will be able to pre-order tomorrow.. I don't think Verizon will want to be "the last" to get stuff moving.

Also, the U.K. had it's date "pushed back!" to December and look? It was released on the day Samsung said it would.

I'll believe what Matias has said. Obviously he's in the loop and I'm sure Verizon is contract obligated to get it out by November, all these "leaks" mean nothing. All our trusted sources say November. I'm done worrying.

Not sure if this has been posted yet... but here. Its been taken from another forum so take it with a grain of salt.

I was speaking with my spouse (a VZW employee today). He told me that he was approached by his district manager about his "Best Device" phone upgrade. Best Device is the upgrade program VZW employees get where their company phone is paid for (this is for corporate employees - not sure about if agents get to participate in best device). Every 45 days, employees can upgrade to the newest phones.

With the Best Device program, employees have access to the newest phones 1-2 weeks after launch, but almost never right at launch. The district manager asked my spouse if he was eligible to upgrade his Best Device soon, and he said yes. He said "good!" and then asked if he wanted to get the Galaxy Nexus as his next device. My spouse said "well yeah" and the DM said "Well, on December 1st employees will be eligible for Best Device upgrades to the Nexus." Using the knowledge that we have about the 1-2 week waiting time for Best Devices, it seems as if the Galaxy Nexus might still be on schedule to launch next week.

Further, my spouse has been the marketing (OMM) person in many of his previous (and current) corporate VZW stores. He took a look at the picture on Droid-life's website (the first one showing the December 8th launch date) that had reference to marketing materials and he started shaking his head. I asked why he was shaking his head and he said to me, "This is for agent locations, not corporate. Internal VZW systems for corporate are ALWAYS red and black, with some white, not the gray color you see here." He also told me the column that says "owner" which was blacked out was which agent/retailer owns the store (such as A Wirelss, Cellular One, etc.) - the individual agent companies. He specifically told me this is NOT a corporate communication. He then went on to suggest it may be that agents (as is sometimes the case in high profile launches) that agent/indirect may be getting the Nexus a few weeks after online/corporate.

Lastly, I showed him the old screenshot from many many days ago on Droid-life that shows the device launching "w/o November 21st" and he explained that in VZW marketing, "w/o" ALWAYS refers to "week of" - NOT web only.

Take all of this for what you want. I'm having him check OMM (VZW's internal, corporate marketing system) when he goes to work tomorrow, he's going to call me and see what he can find out. He's going to check call-out cards, which will give a launch date (if one is entered at this time) and the price that the phone will be at launch (pretty sure $299 given that we know it's going to have 32GB storage and a 4G radio).

Thanks! Here's an old pic of the lifting plane. It's a little different now... the rudder and wintips are blue instead of pink, and I converted it to electric power. It's called "Big Boy" made by Morris Hobbies (in case anyone is curious).

That sucker has a fat airfoil! I like the fact that it's a tail-dragger

And that is the only thing keeping me from switching. Moving carriers is still starting to look better and better with each day that brings no more information than the last, though.

Well at least on TMo it's a soft cap (bw throttling after you go over) and they don't just start charging you through the nose for data. I have a 5GB soft cap that I've never hit even with tethering. I can see not wanting to lose unlimited data though.

This intrigues me all that much more. I hardly ever use the phone feature. So little, in fact, that I just called it a feature, like it isn't the main function. Sigh.

HAHAHA You're speaking my language. I think the only people I speak to on a regular basis with my mobile is my boss and family who are on the same plan. In fact, I just looked at my account details online because I was curious. 14 days into the billing cycle and I've used the following:
MINUTES: 161mins on peak, 42mins off peak, 216mins family, 102MtoM peak, 77MtoM off peak, 0weekend

DATA: 1.3GB Which seems really low to me.
Oddly enough, I'm connected a great deal of the time. At my full time job I quite literally have my Music player on all day, streaming from GMusic. So those of you who were wondering/speculating about streaming music from the cloud because of the missing SD card, take that into consideration. I do not use the browser as much as I used to because its just so painful on this fledgling phone. I am on G+ quite a bit though through out the day. I'm not entirely sure about the background process that are syncing. I know I cut fBook and twitter off from pulling data in the background. Basically, I consider myself a moderate to heavy data user, so that number up there really surprised me.

This guy "Nathan" asked on VZW's Facebook what is the obsession with the Nexus? Lol. I responded, my name is Keith. I think you may like my response.

I wrote: What is the obsession with Nexus?!?!?!? If you have to ask then you should go buy the Droid X 3 er... I mean Razr.

Yeah, the thought of unlimited LTE on verizon is the ONLY reason i'm still waiting before making the jump to TMo or Sprint. I wouldn't even have a T-Mobile SGSII right now if Verizon would've at least announced a release date.

If Verizon would've said at the beginning of November that Dec. 8th was the day, I would've bought a Craigslist phone for a couple weeks. I won't buy the rezound or razr because I refuse to deal in Hostage Negotiations.

That's pretty slick man. Have fun out there today.

Lol. I am back to being intrigued. I hope you get video of You Gonna Due and can send a link. I love watching the R/C stuff. And it's a bonus when things jump out

Found an updated pic. I'm on the left (and a little thinner, I might add :D )with the Big Boy as it is now, and Brandon is on the right. You can see You Gonna Die strapped under the airplane. I believe this was his final moments before his latest resurrection.

I don't wanna be a doggie downwer, but, really? More rumors from sources that don't want to be identified?

Looks like a solid, definitive, maybe or maybe not...

I really think the best bet is to wait for big red to tell us.... just sayin

Then we would have nothing to post ;);)

...
So I've now seen lots of talk about going to Best Buy. My question is, if I go do I get to keep my unlimited data and everything else?

I prefer to use BB (the store) as I Am Premier Silver (45 day return policy) on the reward zone. I have never lost my unlimited data in all of the upgrades and Buy Backs I have done. I always make sure there has been no change to my unlimited data plan before leaving the store too, just to cover my rear. I get far better service at my local BB then the local VZW corp store. I will go to the corp store to fondle the demo units and waste the reps time before heading to BB to purchase. The local VZW manager has been rude and unwilling to assist me on many occasions when service was needed to phones that I had purchased in house. Due to their arrogance and ridiculous sales tactics..oh hate speaker no longer works, buy a Bluetooth headset from us...they have lost all of my business. I use telesales for hardware swaps and accessories as we get a major discount or go to BB and I have never been treated better. As always YMMV.

Keyboards: why is everyone assuming that the alternatives to Swype will be ICS compatible before Swype?

Volume issue: I read through most of the posts on XDA and at first I was concerned because it seems like a hw issue. But on second thought the VZW version may not be affected by this issue as it is slightly different hardware (thicker, radios, etc.)

Sci-fi: if you want the best science fiction story hands down, read the Foundation series by Asimov. As much as I love star wars, the plot seems like a kids story in comparison.

I think it's funny that a lot of RC enthusiasts are some of the first considers for civvie UAV pilots.. Even make them go through flight physicals before they are allowed to pilot..

Especially considering Swype is the default keyboard on some of samsung's handsets. It seems that samsung and swype have a good relationship.

Thanks for passing it along. I like positive attitudes in the morning with my cornflakes. Still waiting for something official before I get too excited, but again, always nice to renew hope.

I have officially decided that if this hits another carrier first, I'm jumping. Any other VZW people feel the same?

Edit: I'm not saying it will happen, more saying how I feel. Just an opinion about a what if.

Agreed. As long as a data plan won't cost me an arm and a leg

That's nice. I will probably wind up looking into TMo today then, just to weigh my options at least.

Yeah. I won't even check my minutes. Probably just pitiful. If I could get rid of a voice plan, I would. Data, I use a lot, but usually have wifi around too. I'm probably about the same, 1-1.5GB.

If Verizon would've said at the beginning of November that Dec. 8th was the day, I would've bought a Craigslist phone for a couple weeks. I won't buy the rezound or razr because I refuse to deal in Hostage Negotiations.
Abso-floggin'-lutely. That's what pisses me off about this. If it's a later date, fine, just announce it. Whatever their reasoning is, to me, it wouldn't make much sense this late in the game. As people have mentioned in here, if there is a bug, an update will come for it. Hell, look at how the Thunderbolt was released, or the Bionic, or a little further back, the BB Storm. Debacles. And suddenly Verizon cares about what their customers get in hand? Not buying it. This is all about what makes them the most money. Understandable, it's a company, but it would be nice to see them actually caring for their customers up front, instead of having to rely on great customer service to fix their f*** ups.

It is far too early, someone will come along and piss in our cornflakes soon enough. I too am trying to contain excitement as I fear depression of word of a delay. Thinking positive thoughts...thinking positive thought.
