I think we should all be cautiously optimistic at this point. I can't believe anything that I hear from corporate Verizon until I see it for myself, after the way that have botched this whole thing.
 
so i went to a corprate verizon store at the mall yesterday and i asked one of the sales rep if they had any info about the GNex being released and he said that he heard a rumor about December 8th. But hopefully we can get a nice surprise and have a web release tomorrow :) but i doubt it would end up happening unfortunately
 
I went to Verizon today. I have a couple friends there. They're not sure on the release date, because corporate doesn't tell them anything until a few days before. They said they already have the Nexus accessories there, and usually accessories show up a week or two before the actual phone arrives. So it will be here soon!

How could you forget that?

lets get real, even if it's true there is no way a VZW store manager is going to risk his job by selling mom-teacher-piano-boy-whatever a phone before it's announced, officially for sale and in everyone's system.

Pretty sure some alarms might go off when they try to activate it.
 
My father's brother's cousin's nephew's former roommate told me Verizon gave up on the GNex just like the N1 when they realized it had a user-unlockable bootloader.
 
For those looking to bail on the Gnex based on the one reviewer from XDA, keep in mind he began his review with this:

Overall, people are right. This is the best phone I've touched.

Guys, there isn't one phone on the market where you couldn't find one person that has had issues. That doesn't mean every Gnex out there will have similar issues. I'm on my second Dinc and it's on it's last legs, but it was still a great HTC product. People have issues with Moto products as well. Take a step back from the ledge, wait for the Gnex to release. Compare them all and if you still feel the RAZR or Rezound are better choices for you, feel free to purchase one of those, but don't go off random reviews on the internet good or bad. Also, why focus on a negative review. Why not focus on The Verge's awesome review where they say:

The Galaxy Nexus is the best Android phone ever made

I'm just saying there are two sides to every coin and at the end of the day you have to buy what YOU feel you will be satisfied with. Just try your choices out yourself before making a decision. Don't make a decision you might regret going solely off of an internet review. After all, it is your hard earned money that your spending.

Yeah - I initially disregarded the "sell it to me early" part as just his enthusiasm, but the entire thing appears to be BS now. Oh well!! I am still holding out hope for at least a pre-order this week.
 
I know you guys hate all of the "I went to my local (insert store name here) to check out the razr and rezound and ask about the nexus" stories. So I hope you can deal with one more...

I went to my local Best Buy in Cobb County, GA just to check out the RAZR and ReZound. The store had working floor demo units of both, and I was bored, so why not?

So about the RAZR....I don't like it at all. The screen, while much better than the Bionic, is still very pixelated. I can see it when the phone is 2 feet away from my face. Everything else about the screen is really nice though, color saturation, brightness, contrast ratio, black level. I LOVE AMOLED screens, I just can't do that resolution with that big of a screen. The Kevlar back feels nice, but the phone is so awkward to hold. It's just too damn wide to be so thin, if that makes any sense. Wasn't impressed with Motoblur and all of the bloat either. Pass.

I checked out the ReZound next. And hey, it really isn't as thick as I thought it would be. Fits very nicely in the hand. The screen resolution was awesome, and the colors and everything else was OK, but I really prefer AMOLED over SLCD. It just isn't the same. The looks of the phone itself however...I'm undecided on. It looks like it is half way between looking sharp and looking tacky, with the red accents all over the place. Performance-wise, the phone sucks, I'll just come right out and say it. There is no reason why it should take 2-3 seconds to back out of a program and get back to the home screen on a dual core with 1 GB of RAM. Lots of lag going through lists and typing as well. This tells me that Sense is just bloated beyond belief and sucking up so much resources. Pass.

After awhile what looked to be the head honcho of the mobile department asked if I liked the ReZound over the RAZR. I said, eh I guess, but I was really hoping the Galaxy Nexus would be out by now. He said "Oh, we have that one...the Nexus S is right over here..." And I said "No, I'm talking about the Galaxy Nexus. It's different." He said "Ohh...The Galaxy SII is right over there but it isn't available on Verizon..." I said, "No, not that either. It's a new phone. Don't worry about it, you'll see it in a few weeks." "Oh...ok I guess, have a nice day." Totally clueless.

Anyway, I'm hoping for something tomorrow

I read that review and quite frankly, that reviewer didn't know what he was talking about. He must not have ever touched anything with Honeycomb because some of his "complaints" were actual Honeycomb features, not problems with the hardware or software. And some of his other complaints are due to the fact that there probably aren't any apps written or modified to include ICS yet.

I'm the type of person that doesn't care what one person thinks of something like a device or a movie. Everyone has their own likes, dislikes, and opinions. You may not like a movie that I think is great. So, I'll reserve judgement until I get that beautiful piece of technology into my little hands. :D
 
I went to my local store again last night and talked to my guy. It was 15 minutes before closing and there was no one there. I asked him about the Nexus and he said he's still hearing December. No demo or training yet. He did tell me they already had the accessories and since no one was there he showed them to me.

I asked him if he sold any RAZR's or Rezound's and he said he's only sold one RAZR. He sells mostly iPhones but he has a Rezound for his work phone and really likes it. He's excited about the Nexus.

That's all I got out of my visit. I hope it comes before December 8th but I think that's the day.
 
I know many won't see the humor that I do in some of this but after Scott96's info everyone was super happy just like they were super happy w/ the piano teachers dog walkers friends brother info he posted. I am curious how many hit and runs there are (similar to the one scott96 posted just now) here from just people having fun w/ some people emotions. BTW I am typing this from my iPhone 4S (j/k). Oh wait hang on that is my VZN rep calling who promised I would only be hearing from him when he had comfirmation from corporate of a firm release date.....please hol.d
