***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

In the take it with a grain of salt category.... I just got back from my corp store. I asked one of the sales reps about the GNex and he gave the standard crap we have all heard. But there was a lady there with him that I had never seen before. She did not have a badge or anything to show she was an employee except for a Verizon badge holder hanging around her neck. So she was not a customer, and after a few seconds she chimed in and said that we would see it in the next two weeks. I pressed and asked if that meant before the end of the month and she just kind of stared at me with a grin. I pressed further and told her that I had heard it was in testing and that it ended yesterday. She said that is correct. If they found no bugs then they would be releasing it this week. She said that they would make an announcement tomorrow and begin selling them the next day, IF the testing when okay. She said if not then it would go back to google and then retested and they will try again next week. We shall see...

Thanks for the info! I'd say this is more than a grain of salt, because combined with my source that brings us to...
...
TWO grains of salt!

Looking forward to Han getting us more info from hanette tomorrow!

Off topic: SD Game should he another good one. My money is on the bears

I am allowed to upgrade more than 6 months before my normal upgrade time. Not sure what your deal is though.

I don't know. December would have been month 24 out of 24 months but they still wouldn't let her upgrade. So we just used my upgrade since it was active since the beginning of November. I was surprised to see how strict the corporate store was about upgrading too soon. But, she did give my wife free screen protectors, a free case, a free car charger, and the extended battery for $20. So I guess I shouldn't be complaining.

You guys ready for the sad story of the day? So, I bought the DInc the day it came out and rooted it as soon as Unrevoked made it easy. I had no problems with the phone (other than the battery life, obviously) until one day I got sand under the power button. I had to abuse the button a little to get it to work but once I did, I quickly made the it possible to unlock the phone with the tactical button and lock the phone by swiping up (I use adw). Today, the phone decided to randomly shut off and not come back on. I tried everything I could to get it back on but couldn't. So, I went to a VZW corp store today to enroll in the "rent-a-phone" program and choose the rezound. I'll leave out the parts where I had to teach a few employees about their own phones, but I did find one guy that knew what he was talking about. He's also waiting for the Nexus but hasn't heard anything about the release. So now I'm stuck with the rezound and will probably have to return it and use an older phone until the Nexus' release. Ugh

VZWsupport just tweeted this:

" Tweets have come & gone, & now it’s time for us to do the same. We’ll start it all over again tomorrow morning at 7AM CST on the dot."

not sure what it means or if its relevant...

Just one of there stupid tweets they don't mean anything

It means they are done for the day and will be back at work tomorrow. Nothing more

Keep in mind that the GNex has been reported to have brand new GPS hardware... So the historical problems with the Samsung GPS might be moot. ::crossing fingers:: :D

That would be good. Of course then we'll just have to worry about the 4G connectivity which has been really bad with the Charge. Mine just couldn't hold on to a 4G signal and would often even drop the 3G signal even though I was in a solid 4G/3G area.

Many reported the same issue.

Whats so sad about that story? You got a pretty decent phone to use until the GN comes out.

EDIT2: above post was redundant. so on a different note, GO BEARS!

haha sorry, just trying to helpfull. i really want this phone and im not believing any more of the trustworthy "sources" until i get an official statement from verizon cuz everysingle one of them has been wrong

At every launch, there can be only one to get it first and tell us about it. :)

For our UK muchachas and muchachos, it was nicely done by drandrew18.

Will scottg96 have his good karma rewarded and be the first here to let us know his impressions? Will mystical incantations open exciting new threads? Will BabyBlues get a new avatar to mark the event?

Stay tuned to this channel for another exciting new episode of The Nexus Wheel Turns!

PS to scottg96 - Thank you for making my prediction that this would turn around on a dime come true - http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...s-post-important-11-19-a-793.html#post3497713

Positive vibe - nicely done! :)

Damn skippy I will. There will be one the day it is announced and there will be one the day I have it in my greedy little hands.

So just a question. The RAZR and Rezound are out and have been evaluated. The Gnex is the last phone (I am aware of) on the horizon that is more than speculation at this point. If for some reason the Gnex disappoints to some extent (quite realistic given the hype in here), then what next? Do you settle for your choice of one of the 3? Do you change carriers? And for what phone? Or do you wait another 6-8 months for whatever it is that might come out that more than likely will entail the same timeline ambiguity issues as the Gnex? Or (bracing for rotten tomatoes) do you buy a piece of fruit?

Wait it out

I think some of us are already tortured enough by the Nexus ride(*), so my idea is let's not torture ourselves or each other. :) ;)

(* footnote)

Ok, not me, I love this thread. :)

Aww, not torturing one another ......how will we pass the time??? :D

OK I guess it's time to pretend I love the wife and kids more than this phone. :)

Made me laugh

I'm surprised not many people are talking about NFC. For me that is a big reason I am waiting. I know it is not broadly available yet, but hopefully over the next 2 years it will be.
all I know is that I will be shopping at 7-11 A Lot more.

Realized today that I will likely be getting a tablet in January so the 16GB/32GB thing is no longer an issue...I'm all the way back in baby. Just needed time to sort things out in my head =)

Welcome back.

I didn't even know what Reddit was till last week. HA!

I still don't

Just got a call from a CSR. I'm trying to get one to crack and confirm that I can return a phone with their return policy on the 9th. At the end of the call, I said I only had one other question. She laughed and said "What?".

"I don't suppose you can tell me the Galaxy Nexus release date"

"Soon is all I can say" (while chuckling)

I assume they get this a lot.

I'm pretty sure all of them have gotten it at least once by now

It is all personal opinion and taste many times. If you have good luck with phone A and bad luck with phone B then you tend to view company A as great and B as bad. You could have received a faulty phone or lucked out to get a great phone with the other one.

I would tend to agree with you but for the fact that I was far from being alone on the connectivity issues. If you go on the VZW forum, people were screaming about this connectivity issue. It was very very widespread. My buddy also bought the Charge and is ready to throw it against a wall for the same reasons. He's looking to buy my Bionic once I get a new phone.

So chalk it up to a first gen 4G radio? Perhaps, but Motorola is pretty well known for making the best radios in these things. I think that's beyond 'anecdotal'.

I sincerely hope the GNex has all new hardware from GPS to its radio, otherwise it will be just another problem plagued 4G phone with or without ICS.
