***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Where can I find a side by side picture with the Nexus and Razr? Everywhere I search it is resized pictures. I want a real world side by side size comparison. I have the Razr now, but may swap...

Does anyone know if I bought it through Verizon's website (pre order) can I just take it back to a store to swap?

Phone Size - Phone size comparison made easy!
Unless you meant from a side view, in which case I'm sure it's out there somewhere.

Oh, and when I asked about the return policy I was told that it was still 2 weeks. The only way to take advantage of the extended return policy was to post-date the activation date - meaning that it could not be activated until that date.

I would tend to agree with you but for the fact that I was far from being alone on the connectivity issues. If you go on the VZW forum, people were screaming about this connectivity issue. It was very very widespread. My buddy also bought the Charge and is ready to throw it against a wall for the same reasons. He's looking to buy my Bionic once I get a new phone.

So chalk it up to a first gen 4G radio? Perhaps, but Motorola is pretty well known for making the best radios in these things. I think that's beyond 'anecdotal'.

I sincerely hope the GNex has all new hardware from GPS to its radio, otherwise it will be just another problem plagued 4G phone with or without ICS.

Like I was saying before, I can't argue with your experiences anymore than you can argue with mine. That would be incredibly silly to even try.

What I will repeat though is that the problems you are talking about are software and not hardware issues. The GPS and 4G radio hardware weren't the issues the software running them is. The same thing happened with the Galaxy S series for people in the US. The GPS and radios had poor signal, but a software update fixed that.

So, like I said in the beginning. Samsung has great hardware, but poor software. This is the reason the Nexus is so nice. Some of the best hardware around combined with a pure Google software experience is a win win.

Has anyone else stepped back from this thread and realized how big of a deal this phone is? My mind was just blown when I thought of all this "underground" discussion about this phone, it's amazing how this can happen.

I went all the way back to the 16th and couldn't find anything. I'm sure it's there, I probably looked right past it.

p3droid has one on his twitter acct

edit: here you go

lol You did look right past it :P

What could be possible still is that they announce the phone tomorrow and allow us to pre-order the phone or even purchase it online. Then maybe the rumor of the 28th could be an actual store release.

I could imagine a lot of people would splurge and buy the phone if it was announced and released online tomorrow.

Just something to think about. Not like we don't have enough rumors anyways lol

Well I was in the mall late after they closed leaving MLG and there happens to be a Verizon corporate store there. Lights were on but no new posters or cool swag. Take it for what it's worth. And btw no other stores had lights on besides Verizon...food for thougt!

So before he went dark Panda mentioned that the device is essentially "no longer a Nexus device" "thanks to Verizon". I assume this statement is because of My Verizon and Backup Assistant apps. As I understand it, the My Verizon app is more than just an apk and is tied closely to the device OS. So with that being true I see no way that it's possible Google could release updates directly for the LTE Nexus....meaning we have to wait for Verizon's tortoise-like update release schedule (Froyo phones just now getting Gingerbread a year later). What does everyone think of this? Does this deter your interest at all? I know it does for me and if I didn't think that this phone also had superior hardware I'd go elsewhere.

He also inferred (in the form of an open-ended question) that Verizon changed the specs to 16 GB to save money on their end yet they still plan to charge teh same amount for the device as originally planned? This is quite a deterrant and really chaps my *** but again there is not a better alternative in the near future.

Finally, his final remarks on the release date were essentially that he would not bet on Verizon sticking to any release date that they (or anyone else for that matter) had planned on until the phones are in the store. So it sounds like the device has been ready for some time now but Verizon is just sitting on it (or struggling to integrate their carrier apps as Panda also mentioned).

So what I take from all of this is that Verizon is truly an "evil empire" and are really only concerned about quarterly earnings and stock values. They don't get excited about technology or phones like we do...and they really don't care about putting out the best possible product and doing it quickly....their decisions and motives seem to be based solely on what is going to give them the best bottom line number at the end of Q4....and to them that is selling as many Razrs and Rezounds as possible until they have to finally release the Nexus. They KNOW the Nexus sales are not going to suffer as a result and they don't really care anyway. All they care about are the total number of contracts and that's probably not changing much as a result of these delays. They know that there's nothing coming out on another carrier that is going to steal the thunder of the Galaxy Nexus so they are in no hurry....and they are going to release it on their terms (VZW apps, locked, updates through VZW) because Google screwed up and left VZW holding all of the cards in this exclusivity agreement.

Like Panda mentioned, our indication of a release shoudl be based solely on when stock actually arrives in the stores or an official VZW announcement because any dates set internally at this point are still subject to change. I just wish Google would have thought out this contract a little more before signing it instead of giving VZW all of the power...that's the one mistake they made with the Nexus and they are paying for it dearly. Like others have said, this could have been their iPhone.

Simply not true;) They extended the return/exchange policy with the same rules as the 14 day policy.

"Purchases made between November 15 and December 28, 2011 may be returned or exchanged through January 15, 2012. All other provisions of Verizon Wireless’ Return & Exchange Policy continue to apply, including Restock Fee."

But it really isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme. Ya see :)

Making excuses already I see. Preparing for another loss. Enjoy the 3-0 lead for now. Eli will take care of everything by the 4th quarter.

You can keep Eli. Anything that gets Andy fired is good by me. Giants will just get rolled by the Packers, Saints, or bears.

Look at that a taunting flag enforced during the play even though the play was ove and should be enforced after the play. Different set of rules for NY teams in sports.

This proves it! Verizon hates the environment :D. They forgot to close the lights...

The other (super bowl winning) Manning.

But hey... The dream team looks great.

Touche my friend...touche

I knew before I even clicked "submit reply" that this would be the response, but I couldn't resist. As an Eagles fan I really can't, in all good conscience, say anything positive about the Giants, but I will say this - it's a shame that even after winning a Super Bowl everyone still talks about Peyton (and he isn't even playing).

That's as close to anything positive about the Giants that I can say, and not be struck by lightning :)
