***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I am seeing ads for it EVERYWHERE. Today I was looking up a recipe on allrecipes.com, and there was the GNex banner. I don't know if there has ever been an android phone with the much hype Pre-release. It's gonna be huge, and that is why I just can't turn my back on it. I am not gonna punish the phone for verizon's sins.

Today is really the first time I'm seeing the banner ads everywhere. Curiouser and curiouser.

One of the many reasons this thread is so much fun is because there is quite a diverse age range of contributors adding their own unique perspectives! From scottg96 who is 15? to OTD who is 2000 years old (because SHE sleeps in a coffin). Moral of the story, Verizon you can't ask for a better demographic for a phone to target, release it already!

fixed :D

This is actually a pretty good theory now that I think about it. Maybe they know there's no good day this week to sell in stores, so they'll start selling in stores on Monday but ship phones this week? That might explain why some stores haven't received shipments, training, promo materials, etc. yet.

Ok this is officially my new theory lol. Thanks :)

Hah! You're welcome. It may be outlandish, but not unacceptable.

I must say you're right about that. We have just about every age represented in here, which really shows the appeal this phone has! Verizon is missing out on a ton of sales from those who have already jumped ship and rented a RAZR/Rezound though :/

Under the cover of darkness I am off....

I'm heading to my local Verizon corporate store. I'm gonna look for any signs of the Verizon galaxy nexus. signs, announcments, posters, launch material of any kind, etc. If nothing is found ill take the long way home, and see if anything is shaking at the local authorized retailer...

If I got anything good ill post pics...

Wish me luck and give me thanks. My wife is mad I'm leaving her alone at the house for this stupid venture. :o I assume nothing will be scooped by me on my 10pm run...

But you never know..

Either way ill rreport back.. wish me luck.:D

OTD is a Vampiress, not a vampire

Where did you get the impression that the My Verizon app was anything more than what's existed on the Android Market for quite some time now?

I'm not a developer so I don't really know. I was just going off of comment's on Panda's twitter post. Chances are all of you know more than I do about how the VZW apps could / couldn't affect the timing of OS updates (Verizon having to test/approve them).

Good luck. And bring wifey back a flower.

So chalk it up to a first gen 4G radio? Perhaps, but Motorola is pretty well known for making the best radios in these things. I think that's beyond 'anecdotal'.

I must just be unlucky. My first OG Droid worked great. Second one was iffy.. my droid x has been pretty crappy - especially with the gps. It'd been about a half dozen years since I'd used a Motorola phone, mostly because the old Motorola flip phones I had were crappy reception-wise, though I chalked it up to being on ATT in the DC area, they've had terrible coverage here since the Cingular days.

I'd had a Samsung 'dumb' phone with a keyboard before getting my droid, that sucker just worked like a champ but had no internet. I needed internet on my phone to keep me from running ragged.. I went with the droid somewhat reluctantly due to it being Motorola (and Moto's reputation at the time was pretty bad) only because the only other real choice for me was the Storm (ha!). Maybe I've been unlucky, but Motorola's essentially dead to me now between my experiences with the DX, Blur (god it sucks) and encrypted bootloaders. Plus the cameras on their phones are among the worst.

I'm optimistic about the Galaxy Nexus due to having good experiences with Samsung overall, from phones to TVs to appliances. Though the early version of TouchWiz I played with was almost as bad as Blur.

Awesome ! good luck have fun and bring your honey back her favorite dessert.

I don't care all that much if VZW adds a couple of branded applications, nor am I worried too much that this will mean the GNex gets updates on a VZW schedule, instead of the Google Nexus schedule. (which sounds doubtful anyway).

Why?

Because I'm sure I'll enjoy ICS, as delivered for just about long enough for Cyanogen Mod 9 to roll out. Unlocked bootloader FTW!
