I'm curious, if Verizon actually decides to launch it on Black Friday, how many of you will buy it on Friday? If it did, I would probably wait until Saturday, but if I happen to be near a store on Friday and it wasn't too busy, I would get it then.

I would buy it on Friday.

BMX just retweeted a tweet from Negrielectronics about out a Nexus giveaway. One of their earlier tweets said they had tracking information on their first GN shipment. I'm in the car... Anyone want to check it out?

"Ladies and Gentleman we have Tracking for our first batch of #GalaxyNexus!! 11/25 delivery. That means shipping out to you same day!"

:D

Edit: Ninja'd

Please pass along our thanks and if appropriate, I have a question for him (or you).

Would it be possible to get the HTC ordering of those buttons as some sort of option (or a changed SystemUI.apk)?

I've never liked Samsung's ordering to begin with, HTC seems more rational to me (home, menu, back, search) and I hate having to re-groove my mind when switching phones, I really do.

Owning multiple Androids with two different button orders is not what I want. While my preference may be considered wrong by others, it's what I like and I just want to use the UI, not stop and think about it every time I change phones.

This may be my second phone (business), I'm keeping my HTC for personal use (3 working HTCs in the house, they're not going away), so going back and forth will be a daily occurrence for me.

Cheers and many thanks for the info! :)

Okay seems the Search box is in the Launcher and not SystemUI.apk so removal is currently out (for right now).

I am sure the buttons can be re-ordered and I will definitely look tonight and let you know. Note - I don't know Paul personally, but he is very quick to respond to questions about apps, hacks and development.

Not sure if that will work for ICS with the on-screen keys. Seems to be more for hardware / capacitive keys.

I just rooted my Dinc2 and flashed MIUI to it (my first time with it). Seems pretty cool so far.

Take your time, Big Red.

:p

I wish i could say that.. I sold my Tbolt right when MIUI got running, and they ported ICS over.... now ive got a D1 and a Touchpad and neither will see ICS for quite some time, (if ever for the D1)

Ive got me some ICS Blueballs

looking over a calendar id say either 11/25-28 or 12/8. I still hold out hope for a web only duration. I mean it wouldnt kill sales that much if they did a web only. No advertising, no in store ads or demos. Most people are going to walk into the store or get a razr or rezound at amazonwireless, not verizon online.

Oh I'm hoping as well but so many things are in flux, it's hard to be sure anymore.

Doesn't matter when it comes out, I'll be attempting to get it that day. Unless Sams Club or Costco or Amazon or someone shows me a better deal, then I can wait another day or two. :)

I stopped by a local Verizon Corporate store yesterday and when I asked the rep about the "Samung Galaxy Nexus" and to my surprise she said that isn't even a phone , she said it was called the Samsung "Prime" but now has been switched to the "Droid Prime" I didn't feel like correcting her and getting into an argument so to speak about who was right but it's sad when the reps in a corporate store don't even know the correct name of their phones...

Dude you are like 80 pages behind on your forum posts. See the Best Buy ad. You are wrong.

I also want to post my account of what happened last night. Got sniped when i was on the verizon website. figured I should test my luck.

Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience.

You are now chatting with 'Latarsha'

Latarsha: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
Me: I would like to order a new phone but I am having trouble seeing it on the website. It was here earlier. SCH-i515?
Latarsha: I will be happy to help
Latarsha: Please hold on while I check that information.

[LONG PAUSE]

Latarsha: When did you last see it on the site?
Me: I think it was a couple of hours ago. Maybe? Is it in your warehouse?

[Pause]

Latarsha: The Droid Charge?
Me: the charge is the SCH-i510 correct? I dont think thats it
Latarsha: Yes
Latarsha: I will send you a link to the device
Me: Thats not it then :( my son said he wanted the i515..
Me: do you know anything about that one?
Latarsha: Click here please
Me: he was very specific that it wasnt the charge. It is newer than that he said... SCH-i515 Can you tell me anything about that model?

[Pause]

Latarsha: We do not have SCH-i515
Me: oh... well then Ill just wait till I can talk to him again. I want to be absolutely certain I get him the correct one. He would be angry with me. But I will tell him what you have told me. Thanks for your help.
Me: bye
Latarsha: It has been my pleasure to chat with you today! Please feel free to re-open the chat session if you need further assistance . Thank you and have a great day!
Only thing i will change if it happens again (because I wont intentionally hit the chat now button) is to not say I saw it on the website. I feel like with the pauses and the deflection she knew more than she could talk about. We know its in the warehouse maybe we can pull another Rezound. I did catch her off guard by calling it by the model number.

Actually there really is no "triggers" per se. They have had a pre-determined time-frame of running their ads for the RAZR and Rezound and releasing new product.

For example and I'll just use made up dates and times: From November 1-December 7th the advertising campaign takes place for whatever devices they are pushing for the holiday season. Part of their campaign designates that no new smartphones will be released during that time and new launches will take place 1 week after the ad campaign has run it's course.

So it doesn't matter if they sell 1 or 1 million. RAZR and Rezound could sell 45 million or 45 units AFTER the ad campaign and they would still introduce a new handset. They stage releases according to a set schedule not by sales figures. These things are planned well ahead of time and they don't waver from it unless problems arise. This is how it was explained to me.

Just look at the Bionic debacle. That delay wasn't going to effect the RAZR launch thus the 2 months later RAZR release. They were not worried about ravaging Bionic sales. Things are on a tight schedule and they don't hold up devices intentionally.

I hope that makes sense..............

This is probably accurate in a general sense, but I am pretty sure there is also bean counter type issues related to actual sales volume that can mess with this at later stages probably. I say this because I am quite certain they either promise in contract with device OEMs or actually purchase up front X number of devices. If the launch and ad campaign goes down and initial sales pace is not as expected and you have subsequent launches you are pretty certain will continue to erode that pace you can probably get a pretty good picture early on if subsequent launches will force a loss through eventual discounts and such to move stock on the device buy promises you made the first OEM.

Basically I am guessing they have to make an educated guess on sales share of a multi-device launch like what we are involved in now and if that share doesn't seem to be working out they may chose to hold the later release devices long if the first are the ones coming up short. I think what you refer to though CK is probably pretty standard in most instances where you don't have a bunch of devices all hitting at once kind of and needing to sell in certain shares. I am guessing what is going on now is pretty unique and the monday launch for the Rezound seems to reflect that uniqueness really. I really tend to believe Nexus shipments are being held for reason more like this than last minute updates as such updated could happen at point of sale so long as the update can be pushed by the onsale date. Might even be short supply from initial orders of Nexus based on what is being seen of RAZR and Rezound sales causing a wait for the second shipment from over seas.

I'm with you on this.

What you're talking about:
1. Is permitted by VZW's return policy
2. Does not violate VZW's TOS
3. Is 100% legal

If someone doens't feel comfortable taking advantage of VZW's return policy or TOS, they don't have to, but I'm not buying the legal/ethical arguments against it.

Your points all address the legal issues, not the ethical.

That's up to each individual as you pointed out.

I'm personally fine with someone buying one device and swapping to another even if that was their intention all along, however when we don't apply it to phones, a philosophy of "Because its not illegal, that makes it right" suddenly becomes very scary.

OMG!!! That was laugh unexpectedly and spit the coffee out worthy.

Look guys, if BGR (Apple fanbois) fawns and slobbers all over an android? It's the phone of the year. It's must. have.

Yeah, ok.

Personally, I don't pay attention to BGR because they're often wrong and I won't start because they agree me with on something.

But not everyone feels that way and any positive press for Android and the Nexus is a good thing, so I'll give you that.

But when it releases, BGR will sensationalize anything wrong or anything they think that they can construe as wrong. Just like the top stories about the iOS 5 updates being held back due to memory leaks(*) or how an iOS 5 update is tanking battery performance in some cases.

I think it's all about the click-thru revenue and less about being fanboys.

Just my 2 cents. ;)

* Footnote - the irony of reporting memory leaks to an audience that has zero clue what that software term really means is totally hilarious. Directed at the phone that you supposedly don't need to be a techie for puts it squarely into the territory of killing me.

11/23, 11/25, 11/28, 12/1, 12/5, 12/8, 12/12, 12/15, or 12/30.

Pick a date for me. I have been date-less for this cell phone and I need to get back into action.;)

somewhere between the bold ones unfortunately

I'm going to say one of these:
12/8, 12/12, 12/15, or 12/30

Can't just pick one, unfortunately. :(

I say 12/1. Just a gut feeling.

I sure hope something happens soon. I am being teased by the Razr and Rezound, they are nice in their own way.

Well big RED wouldn't have that issue if they were not stringing us along like jackasses.....
