***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

You know, most of the posts on VZW's Facebook and Twitter have been people asking about the GNex, and if there's one thing VZW has shown so far, it's that they don't give a shit. I wouldn't put it past them to stall the GNex in favor of the Droid 4 at all.

Verizon does not want to be on Google's bad side. I feel pretty confident, but, I will say anything is possible with these yahoos.

I think that would be the final straw, if VZW release the Droid 4 with ICS before the GN ...

It's going to be a good 6 months before any phones get released with ICS. Engadget had a good series recently on how a phone comes to market. Decisions like this, including specs, are all decided up to a year before the thing even comes out. That's why it takes so long to get new releases on the current version of Android.

If Verizon does get on Google's bad side, then what? It's not like Google is going to stop doing business with America's largest mobile carrier.

Over the last few months following this phone, I definitely get the impression that VZW's business model favors Droid-branded handsets that feature locked boot-loaders and lots of bloat. Sure, they'll still make money on the GNex, but I don't think they're very excited about this particular device, and the priority they've assigned in releasing it reflects that.

Hypothetical....let's just say Verizon ends up just scrapping Gnex in general. Right now what is the best phone they have to offer. I plan to root and customize probably w/ CMx whenever it is available. Would love any input.

I predict Verizon will not release the phone,
They have all but admitted to it.
But I hope I'm wrong
They'll release it. They have warehouses full of them and they can't just send them back to Samsung. Also, they're getting bombarded with GNex inquiries, and if they weren't going to release it, they'd just tell us so to shut everyone up.

Wow that was quick...

Here is the response...
"@P3Droid i haven't reached out in the past day or so after the last word i heard the other day on the delay yet again."

Then P3Droid told him to check his inbox.

Maybe we will get a hint tonight ;)....at least one can hope.

P3Droid on Twitter:

"And I think I finally have a good date, for the nexus. @Pydepypper are you hearing the same thing I heard?"

I'll keep you updated on Pydepyppers response :)

Jcase has been bombarding twitter with bullshiz, so i dont know if i really trust anyone on twitter about a possible release date now. It might be another prank

The more I think about this i kind of blame google an little bit I think they should have known what they were getting into. They aren't showing enough backbone imo.

I would really like to be more of a participant and less of a lurker but it takes me so long to catch up after work. And I waste so much time during work to try to keep up. How do you all do it?

I don't disagree with you that Verizon favors the locked boot-loader phones, but I do disagree with you that they aren't excited about the GNEX. If that were the case, they would have released it without caring if any bugs were fixed. They know there are a ton of people wanting this phone which equals lots of new two year agreements, which is what they are ultimately after. In the grand scheme, it makes no difference to them what phone you choose, as long as you keep feeding the cash cow every month for at least 24 months.

I just saw an email from Verizon Wireless pop up...................black friday ad sans Gnex. I shake my fist at you Verizon, such a mental game you play!

I didn't get this email. Was the Rezound in it? I stopped by Verizon again today. They wouldn't tell me anything. However, I did find out I would get $50 off the Rezound with the equipment discount my dh gets and $54 trade in for my DX. He said he couldn't tell me if or how much his discount would be on the GN since it's not out yet. Looking at just under $200 made the Rezound very tempting!!

Edited to add: I just got the email. I wonder what the limited time offer will be for checking in...

So i was talking to my regional rep from verizon, we had a talk about the nexus and she said that a recent software glitch has pushed back the release of the nexus and its all on the manufacturer to get the phone ready so verizon can pick a date to release it.

Take it for what it is.

VZW will release the GN phone. It is nly a matter of when, not if. I tried the Rezound and it is very comfortable to hold. Much nicer than the Razr IMHO.

Moto released a "security update" for my OG Droid today and it seems more stable. Makes me wonder exactly what the security issues were and if the affected performance.

Honestly that goes along with a few things:

1: Samsung 'appearing' to say its next month instead of Verizon

2: P3Droid said his got a LTE primary update today

3: Verizon being tight lipped about it

It all appears to make some sense. Maybe its fixed tho :)

Of course you're assuming that VZW is holding the release back due to bugs, which I'm not sure I buy, despite their official excuse of "ongoing testing."
