I didn't get this email. Was the Rezound in it? I stopped by Verizon again today. They wouldn't tell me anything. However, I did find out I would get $50 off the Rezound with the equipment discount my dh gets and $54 trade in for my DX. He said he couldn't tell me if or how much his discount would be on the GN since it's not out yet. Looking at just under $200 made the Rezound very tempting!!

Just an HTML email w/ a link to this http://specialoffers.verizonwireless.com/holiday/2011/

If Verizon does get on Google's bad side, then what? It's not like Google is going to stop doing business with America's largest mobile carrier.

Over the last few months following this phone, I definitely get the impression that VZW's business model favors Droid-branded handsets that feature locked boot-loaders and lots of bloat. Sure, they'll still make money on the GNex, but I don't think they're very excited about this particular device, and the priority they've assigned in releasing it reflects that.

That's...where you're actually wrong.

Google's business model isn't Android. Android was a side project. It is not how El Goog fills his pocket weekly.

Google has always shown it's willing to take a huge loss to try something completely new and crazy, time and time again.

They'll also own Motorola. Verizon loses Moto, what do they have? HTC for high ends and Sammy for low/mid? Good luck!

I'm agree with Han on the TP. I may just have to get the tablet now and have a new gadget and ICS to hold me over. If the tablet is out first I'll get it and wait on a phone.

VZW will release the GN phone. It is nly a matter of when, not if. I tried the Rezound and it is very comfortable to hold. Much nicer than the Razr IMHO.

Moto released a "security update" for my OG Droid today and it seems more stable. Makes me wonder exactly what the security issues were and if the affected performance.

I went to an vzw store today actually played with the data I actually like the feel its really light and thin too bad it comes bloated locked down and with gingerbread

I'm confused. I don't see where I said Android was the basis for Google's business model. I was just saying that I don't think VZW cares about Google's opinion as much as someone implied. JMO.

Edit: As for Moto, like I said, I don't think Google would stop doing business with VZW over a botched GNex launch, with VZW being America's largest mobile carrier and all. :)

So i was talking to my regional rep from verizon, we had a talk about the nexus and she said that a recent software glitch has pushed back the release of the nexus and its all on the manufacturer to get the phone ready so verizon can pick a date to release it.

Take it for what it is.

Lol total bull.

Well, that's correct, but not 100%. It's a really long read, but I think you will change your mind after seeing some of the facts in this article.

Google’s Andy Rubin: the man who redrew the mobility map | FP Tech Desk | Financial Post

Google Mobile is becoming a force, and I assure you that since they have now bought (not a completed sale yet though) Motorola, they are more than serious about making money in the Mobile division.

Google is the backbone of Verizon's modern business structure and modeling, doesn't matter if you said it or not-you implied that Verizon doesn't care, and I wager they care more than any of us know.

Google, at any point, can choose to close off development. Pretty soon they can choose to completely close the pipeline to Verizon if they want. Cellular isn't how Google makes money, and they'll make money in that sector regardless if Android is the OS or not (i.e click through on BB or iPhones).

Since we're in a cellular discussion, you saying Verizon doesn't care about pissing off Google is bringing Android into it automatically.

You are right about why, but they may overtake Verizon. Now that they are purchasing Motorola, if I were Andy Rubin, I would look to build my own network, with my own phones, and my own operating system. Long term planning of course, but it makes a lot of sense when you look at the broad picture.

Fair enough- I hope you're right, because if you are, VZW won't dare to screw up the GNex launch any more than they already have.

I know. But unlike other companies they seem to be very timely with updates according to all the reviews I read. I may not have ICS immediately but it will be a new gadget to play with in any case.

I actually think we'll see ICS on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 through CyanogenMod 9 either around the same time or before the Transformer Prime gets it. Cyanogen himself posted on G+ that ICS on the Tab is amazing and to expect to see CM nightlies for it soon. Add to that fact that he now works for Samsung and might have had access to ICS source a bit early or was able to quickly get it on the Tab...

But either way, the Prime looks to be a really nice tablet. I was actually debating seeing how much I can get for my 16 GB Tab 10.1, since I got 100 dollars off of the price through Staples when I bought it in July through a special promotion, and figuring out how much more I'd have to spend to get the Prime. The main thing that is stopping me is I have to see how the build quality with the Asus is. The original Transformer was not put together very well

Fixed for ya ;)

I favor the razr as well but mostly due to the fact I've had an HTC phone forever. 2 of them.

oops did swiftkey fail me must re read what I type before clicking submit. I am not even sure if I would pick galaxy s2 over the razr since both run gingerbread. Lucky I don't have to make that decision
