Sometimes your better off listening to her though right! Or maybe even "most times" :)

All too true a lot of the time, but I can't agree with her this time. My perspective may be somewhat biased (based on our group obsession), but would you want to have a 2-year contract on a phone you don't really want. I would hate for you to pick up the Rezound, and then be stuck with it. You know - once you make the purchase, your wife will be even more upset/angry if you tell her you want to return the $50 phone for the $200-$300 phone. I know my wife wouldn't go for that. But, if I just wait for the more expensive phone and purchase that, she'll eventually get over it.

Just a suggestion - that is what our group therapy session is for :D

If you don't hate sense im sure the Rezound is a perfectly fine phone.

From a few pages back, the Rezound has the same radio problem as the Thunderbolt. So don't count on official ROM support. You will most likely never see an official CM build for this phone due to this problem. I've been really really disappointed by ROM support for the Thunderbolt. The sense and "de-sensed" ROMS work fine, but basically the AOSP ROMS are pretty messy in general.

Reception and signal stability on them are absolutely terrible.

No according to the actual owners in the Rezound forum. Not at all.

And I'm especially unhappy with the suggestion in their forum to go to non-HTC forums so happy owners with phones that are working fine can learn that they're wrong and their radios aren't working fine.

Please don't let the experience of a few lemons decide how an entire model performs.

Please pass on information that's solid, not rumors.

The Rezound is not the Thunderbolt.

Can you link to the info on the radio problems? I don't recall reading that anywhere.

I couldn't find it. But If I remember correctly, because the radio uses "sdvo" (I think) it allows you to talk and use data at the same time on 3G. It supposedly causes issues when trying to run custom ROMS. Especially ASOP (Like CM7 and soon to be CM9)

Wow! We did it! I'm so happy to be #1... #1, that is, until the next epic delay that drags us into the thousands. :p

FIFY ;)

And thanks for the "cleanup job". I must have been away for a few minutes and didn't see them.

Did people kill me? :(

I'd love to hear more about this. We've got nothing but time on our hands for a couple of weeks. ;)

Yesterday, for experimental purposes, I left it in 4G all day even in standby. Took it off the charger (device goes from dry to 100% charge in a little over an hour, BTW) and gave it moderate use - a few photos, some surfing, downloaded a few apps. After 16 hours it was at about 35%, which is pretty damn good.

Today I'm going to turn off LTE when I'm not using it, just to see what kind of difference it makes. I've thought about Juice Defender but I've heard mixed things about it, and I may be just fine without it.

I have always thought the ReZound was a better phone on looks, specs and build. The only thing the GNex has going for it is ICS and the longer this goes, the closer the ReZound gets to having ICS. And before you jump on me, yes, I love Sense. So now you can jump on me for that. Sooooo......

I love Sense too! So you're not alone!

I'm on the phone with Costco, waiting for a CSR, to ask about when the 14 day trial period begins.

I think I'm going to do it, peeps.

I won't be off the SGN train yet, as long as Verizon births the beast on or before December 8. If not, then I'll have to decide whether to return this thing before the 14 day period or if I just want to keep an HD, LTE, dual core phone that will soon be unlocked for $50.

Argh.

Freaking idiots.

Hey Han, I know we don't know each other since I am new to this thread and to AF in general, but I also want to chime in a little here if I may...

When I first joined this thread and started posting, I could tell that you were one of the people that wanted the Nexus the most. It is my choice too, it will be an awesome device and experience. I'm sure you've read all of the reviews of the GSM model, as I have as well, and you would know it has been praised as the best Android phone you can buy this year, period.

Now, usually when people say, I like the RAZR or the ReZound better, I point out some info about the Nexus that they aren't aware of, but tell them to get the device they want the most, the device that works out better for them, and the device they feel they'd be most happy with for the next 2 years. As smartphone enthusiasts, it is really important to go with the one you KNOW you want, the one you are sure of, because it will need to make you happy for at least the next 18-20 months (and that is if you can get lucky and get an early upgrade next time around).

But with you, I feel it is a different scenario. I could be totally wrong here, but I feel that you know you REALLY want the Nexus, you are just tired of waiting (like many of us are...I wanted this phone last month personally), and you are willing to settle with the ReZound because A. You want a new phone and B. The 50 dollar promo price point. In your case, I'm going to throw it out there and say that it would be a mistake to get the ReZound and you will end up regretting it as soon as people here start saying how much they love the Nexus.

I know money is a deciding factor, and I would never decide for someone how much is too much to spend a phone. If the 250 dollar savings right now is something you NEED to do because of your financial situation, then by all means ignore everything I just said. But I get the feeling that you have been willing and able to spend 299 this entire time, since this is the most widely believed price point.

The 250 dollar savings right off the bat IS nice, but please consider this: during the life of your contract, depending on your plan, you will be giving Verizon AT LEAST $2200.00, if not more. Knowing that you are going to spend that much in the long run and you have to live with your device for the life of your contract, are you really willing to go with a device that you're just settling with accepting because of a sale, vs. a device that you know you really want and will love? Also, if the price point is that important to you, you could just wait another week or two AFTER the Nexus is released, and you will likely find great deals for it on Amazon or Radioshack or even Costco (maybe the phone will even be free somewhere? Why not, right? Deals like that on just released phones happen all of the time!) I know the idea of having to wait longer than the release date is a "Ugh" idea, but if you are that concerned with price, isn't waiting a few more weeks worth being happy for the next 24 months?

I'm not trying to steer you one way or the other and I'm not judging you for looking to take a better price point on a different phone, but I would really hate to see someone who had so much passion for the Nexus regret their decision to bite on the sale for the ReZound. You already waited this long for it, what is a couple more weeks? And like I said, I don't know you that well to say for sure, but I'm fairly confident by looking at your posts the entire time I've been a part of this thread that I can say you eventually will regret your decision to go with the HTC.

After googling a bit, I can only get bits and pieces, but yeah, it looks like the SVDO might be a problem if you want to run AOSP roms. Not sure if this is still an issue with the newest HTC.

Hmm.

Relatively new poster, but long time lurker (mostly in the Dinc section). I haven't read every page of this huge thread, but I've read enough to see the ups and downs and have been waiting with baited breath for this phone along with everyone else. I was just up at my local V store (Maryland) and casually asked about the Nexus as I was playing with their model Vigor. They immediately started touting the praises of Beats and constantly steered me back towards either the Vigor or the Rasr. Ha, I got the feeling that they'd been fielding questions from others about the Gnex and didn't want to have to go through it again or something. I made it clear which phone I wanted though, and they were nice enough about it.

The radio issue might help me hold out for the gnex. AOSP support is paramount.

I've had the Rezound for a few days and my radio has been fine, no problems. Switching between 3G and 4G for battery purposes and strong signal everywhere for both.

Pleasantly surprised by battery life as well, so far.

How long are you getting and what's your usage pattern?

Welcome new poster have fun here!

Well HanSolo,

So much for the methadone effect of the dinc2 eh? You have not slowed down any.

I see Verizon has a free Dinc2 promo. I think in that case they should let you keep it.

Welcome new poster have fun here!

It's always fun here! It's funny, I went through the Dinc thread the same way, and two years later I still consider following that thread to be great fun. It's like virtually waiting in line for a new product like the Wii (waited outside my local Wal-Mart in really cold weather with nothing but jeans, shoes and my Nintendo tank top for it!) and it's always exciting. This phone will probably be in our grubby little mitts in a couple more weeks and it's a good thing I'm going to be working my butt off in that time frame or I'd be driving myself insane :p
