Hans, quit this nonsense about the Costco deal. Saving a couple hundred is nothing compared to the time you've spent in this thread waiting for the GNex. You're going to wait for this damn phone with the rest of us and you know it! :p

Yep, solidarity!

I know. But what about the

Hey all.

Took a couple days off from this thread. Looks like I missed the milestone where this thread took over the previous record holder. Other then that, don't look like I missed much.

I did figure out something though while out on that ledge waiting to jump ship or wait out the Gnex. That is if I jump ship, there is nothing out there. Yeah, the Razr I was looking at is pretty much for the looks. One other reason for the Razr is I am used to the layout of the device.

The other thing I figred out? The Rezound is just not my cup of tea.

So, jumping ship? Yeah, I don't think so. I had been lusting over a Razr but looking at my sisters bionic that I helped her pick out is having issues even after the liberty rom, it still requires a battery pull since it freezes.

Well, the problem is such an issue that my sister is seriously thinking about going back to her iPhone 4. Since I want 4G, rather then buying my self a new phone, I would just buy her bionic but realized that would be a mistake. I don't think I could handle all the bionic problems. I told her to wait until ICS as I thought part of the issues could be GB related as my DX started its reboots after the GB update.

So, I know, kind of a pointless post here. Just felt like sharing a little bit of phone banter while we wait for the Gnex. Her problems with the bionic has made me step back OFF the ledge, back into my chair and wait. Along with my Xoom which has been acting goofy since the 4G update (data loss on both 4G wifi where I need a reboot) I don't think I want to deal with MOTO anymore :(

I think we've been collectively going through the 5 stages of grief over missed gnex launch dates. I also think we're getting close to acceptance. If the 8th is missed it will start all over again.

From EVERYTHING I have seen about this phone since its UK release (and before) the only real issue with it is is the 1080P video. People are reporting rolling shutter, jello effect, etc... Guess what - I can live with that one minor issue. This really is the best Android phone yet, and I can't wait to get my hands on mine.

Hmmm.....Ice cream sandwich

For me this isn't even a blip of an issue. I have one video taken in a year.

I haven't been able to upgrade until the 8th this entire time so this might just turn out great for me lol, I won't have to listen to everyone on here tell me how great it is before I can get it myself. ;)

Yeah same here, except I might be up to about 3 or so. They are all stupid videos anyway. The camera/video capturing capabilities of the phone are pretty far down my list of wants in any phone, so the fact that this is really the only thing getting picked on by reviewers (even on iphone sites) is fine with me. For what I ask my phone's camera to do, it will be more than adequate.

Since I cannot wait to watch and listen to my favorite podcasts on the Nexus when it does finally hit the streets, I do have a question, hopefully not too far off topic, what is everyone's favorite app for podcasts?

I can't help. I've never listened to a podcast before.

I think I have used Listen to download This American Life and The Moth podcasts.

Maybe someone can help me here...

I'm waiting to upgrade my main line for the Nexus when it releases.

But with this Costco/Rezound deal... I have a second line that i let my GF use.. shes month to month on a Moto Devour. I am going to take her to Verizon after she gets out of work and see how she likes it.. since its only going to be $50.00.

Here's my problem..

I have a grandfathered unlimited data "Alltel" plan. When I go to purchase the phone on the Costco website.. I choose "Upgrade your phone and keep your current rate plan."

But its giving me $20.00-80.00 data plans to choose from..

I'm not sure if I should call Verizon and ask them what needs to be done or call Costco?

Normally anytime I have changes to my plan or upgrades I go to the corporate store since they can deal with "Alltel" plans.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm definitely at acceptance at this point. I know it will come out sometime before 12/31 and when it does, I will buy it. If it doesn't...I just don't know then.

That is what I keep telling myself, but honestly even if it somehow slips into January I am too into the aspect of owning a "Nexus" to give up on it. I've spent too much time trying to turn my other phones into AOSP phones. I may as well just buy the one that does that job the best.

Keep it as a backup. If your current breaks, gets destroyed, or is stolen, a call to Verizon will activate your last one in minutes and you keep communications open until you solve the current phone problem.
Thats worth more than selling it used or giving it away believe me, I have done it and lost zero communications.

I keep my last phone at my home charging station and hit it a couple times a month to maintain the battery.

+1 on this. Plus: if you revert back to a dumb phone, you may LOSE unlimited data (if you're on it) and have to go to tiered. It HAS happened.

My 0.02 :)

I feel the same way. But my wallet would really prefer December so I don't have to pay anything out of pocket for it!

So I wanted to let everyone know there is an option for you if you do NOT have an upgrade available. I apologize if someone else covered this but this is something I've confirmed I can do with my buddy from Verizon and Verizon Customer Service to double check:

1) You have an existing line with Verizon so this applies to you.
2) You can add a new line for $10/month and get your Nexus for $200/$300.
3) But you have a smart phone on line #1.
4) You switch the Nexus to line #1. You switch the existing smartphone to line #2.
5) But you don't want two smart phones on 2 lines.
6) Swap the line #2 smartphone with a feature phone and that line becomes just a $10/month line instead of a $40/month (10+data pack) line.
7) You will have two lines rolling because Verizon ONLY cares about your LINE (not phone) being active with a 2 year committment.

BENEFIT:

1) You will have the Nexus on line #1 which is carrying the original phones committment. You can upgrade the Nexus when that phone is up.
(i.e. You bought a Dinc and you have upgrade up in May (for instance). You 'll be able to upgrade the Nexus (if you choose) in May.
2) Line number 2 will have your feature phone sitting around for the 22 month committment on the Nexus but will have that Upgrade 1 year from May. This is because this line is carrying the Nexus committment.
3) In the end, you will have the ability to do what? Upgrade in May then next May (roughly). So for an extra $10 dollars per month you can have rolling yearly upgrades.

Return on investment: Instead of buying a Nexus for 600 dollars . Over the next year if you pay the $10/month for a feature phone on the second like its only the costs of the Nexus + 120/year for the additional line = $420. 600-420 = $180 savings + Having rolling yearly (roughly ) upgrades ! This assumes your upgrades fall in line with my example.

Yes it is that awesome.

Hope this helps!

I feel like I know what I'm getting for Christmas and I can't have it until Christmas gets here.

Oh wait... this is going to be my Christmas present.

Ha! Ha! It is hard to imagine this release going past the 15th. If it goes any later than that it won't be a major factor in the holiday season. I don't see Verizon/Samsung/Google allowing that to happen. That...as they say...would be an epic FAIL

I think missing Black Friday sales is already an epic FAIL.

Now we're all just sitting back to see how much farther they can stick their heads up their asses.

Idiots.

hey guys i've been out of the thread for a couple days. has there been any news on a release date or is it still rumored for 12/8? any updates would be greatly appreciated (and thanked)

If the 8th is missed I'm going to be all

Wow!! I just checked the first couple pages of this thread to see how long some people have been here (in this thread). Han and Antimony have been here since the beginning. I have to give you guys kudos for your patience. I don't know if I could have held out as long as you guys have - since August.

Anyone who has been in that long is a real trooper. Congrats!! :)
