***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

BTW,
I've heard some issues with the Nexus for some apps that haven't been updated. For instance, Facebook hasn't been updated and there is no menu button available. So getting into the settings can't be done to set notifications, etc.

I don't know if this will work, but there are a few soft button apps available in the market, or can be sideloaded. For example, button savior. These will enable a separate soft menu. If they still work in ICS, then this could be a solution to get around apps that haven't been updated yet.

What is the longest that Verizon has left accessories in a store before releasing the phone? The GNex accessories have been in some stores for several weeks now. Release the GNex!

My gut tells me, Monday announcement with a release of Thursday December 1.

Edit: I was the first person in the history of android forums to reach the 49,197 post mark on any thread!

Oh god I hope this happens :O The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced this will happen :D I'm getting excited now!

I have been lurking and watching this thread for a while now so I decided to dip a toe in and check out the water. I would like to present a new take on all the waiting we have been going through for the last month or so. I have been having Deja Vu feeling and I finally figured it out.....

Does anyone remember when you were kids how long Christmas eve night was? It seemed like for ever before you had to go to bed and then you would just lie there trying to get to sleep so morning would come faster and you could get all your toys finally? WELL, this is like that for adults. Here we are waiting, agonizing over our new toy...can't wait to get our hands on it but have to wait for it.

This is taking delaying gratification to a new level. Hope this makes your wait a little more fun. :p

Welcome good lurker.

Can someone explain to me why Facebook's menu button options don't show up on ICS (as shown in other apps by the 3 vertically stacked dots)? I don't get it :S

Im hopeful for cyber Monday. I just got the feeling. Insert positive thoughts >here< who's with me?

I'll say I'm cautiously optimistic.

Indeed. I have gotten better at fine tuning CyanogenMod now a year into using it and in turn it is faster.

Please feel free to PM with any tips you feel are a "must know"

Welcome. And I like the way you put it.

App drawer uses pagination when scrolling up and down. Even though this is a "feature" to thwart overscroll, it gives the appearance and feeling of lag.

Yep. They started that in Sense 2.1 w/ GB. Depending on what's leaking in the background or misbehaving, it will lag. Hilariously, we got an update that caused it to lag spike and just hang on a half page - quick update later fixed it.

I have no idea where they got the idea to page like that to avoid overshoot - had to have been a focus group. Waiting to see if ICS on the Nexus is picking up these swell new "improvements" or the like. Sure hope not.

I hate when anyone fixes non-existent problems.

Anyway, I rarely bother with the app drawer - QuickDesk, free in the Market with a long-press on the search key, Android multitask stacking done right. No idea how to get something like that on the Nexus with soft keys. :(

its a glitch in the app. but a patcher someone made adds the search button to the bottom and forces the three dots. so i believe its fixed.

Welcome to the forums and excellent first post! :)

Is anyone holding out any real hope that the Gnex will release Monday? I want to believe. Someone give me hope!

Im not sure if its hope or a dumb store manager. But the manager that took my alleged "pre-order" at the Verizon Reseller store. Emailed me today and told me that the phone will definitely release the "week of" the 28th! so take it as you want. Im holding out hope that it releases this week too!
ur not alone!

letting the flaming ensue! doubt me all you want guys.

I don't see why ICS wouldn't support long presses on soft keys...?

Anything positive is welcome! :D
Guys, this week is looking more and more likely... Possibly GNex this week and then Droid 4 Dec. 8th? This makes sense!

I agree. I'm curious what long press of the home key will be now that a key is dedicated to app switching. Be nice if it were configurable, but all I want is voice actions hooked up on the home key. I know we can use the new mod for a dedicated search button but I'd like to stay as stock as possible for awhile. Honestly the search button should be configurable too.

One thing I'll miss about CM7 is holding the back key to kill misbehaving apps.

Have we seen any additional evidence of a week-of 11/28 release? My rent-a-rezound has been keeping me busy after finally retiring my OG droid last week, but dammit I'm ready for my nexi.

Good news.. thanks for sharing!!

i like how it comes with a wallpaper that matches the cover. pretty cool indeed

:D

AND just in case you don't get the code for the wallpaper, don't go off on them, just email him. They are awesome about getting back to you and acknowledged that they sometimes have issues when orders come through amazon. Some of the info doesn't always come to them.
