Either way brother (or sister lol). I think mods will be something close to proud of us that we're all hanging in here together to celebrate the fact that we're getting really really close to having this phone. I'm definitely gonna be thanking like crazy for people staying up with me, but the call is definitely yours.

On a similar note, I hope I see a lot of you guys sticking around here once this think comes out. I feel like I know a lot of you guys in real life and I'm really looking forward to share my experiences and modifications with you guys once I have this awesome device in my hands.
Its brother

I'll probably hang out in the all things root section once it comes out(that's wat I do in the thunderbolt section)

What's everyone's favorite feature on the Nexus? I'm torn between ICS and that display.

For now, it's the promise of Google's direct support, followed closely by screen size. That'll change once I start using it, I'm sure. And I don't know enough about Android to have an honest preference for ICS over Gingerbread -- I've just seen enough to know I want it, and want to live in the future, not the (*cough* BlackBerry *cough*) past.

Btw, I posted many many pages ago that I'm a wholesaler for Verizon with direct seller privileges. I'm dying to see this pop up on my websites inventory for a marked down price.
THAT would be the birthday present of ALL birthday presents!!!!

Hopefully, it does soon. :D

Just hope I won't be persona non grata, what with my jumping ship for Rezound. I actually thought Hans was gonna do the same, but he pulled back at the last minute.

This is so true. I'd love to link you to an article I read about credit card security in Europe vs. the US, but I'd never find it (probably in the NY Times archive, $$) but essentially US banks are willing to maintain our less secure mag stripe system due to convenience and relatively small losses. European banks are much more interested in preventing fraudulent use, and are pushing these NFC/RFID measures. Some travelers from the US with mag-stripe only credit cards were SOL at many self-service venues and even some retailers, because they were either not equipped or unwilling to take payment via this old tech.

Not sure if I saw this here or someone else, but this just cracks the door on the possibilities of what we could get into with NFC.

Edit: ok sorry for being such a noob, but how do you embed a video??

So what's Google doing with voice dialing these days? I'm hoping 4.0 shows some improvement, but haven't seen any video demonstrations yet.

Mainly, I'm concerned with their over reliance of using the screen. My BlackBerry reads back what it thinks I've asked for: "Did you say, call Wife, mobile?" Me: "Yes." It: "calling..."

It looks like Android listens to the request, then pulls up a list and displays it on screen, and it requires a tap to dial. Is this right?

Let's get to work!! Lol
I haven't been on here all day before this, but what is the consensus or at least everyone's guess as to when this phone releases now?
is it outlandish to firmly believe in a Monday/Tuesday release??
Since all of the "sources" have been adamant about a December release and verizon loves Thursdays, I'm guessing December 1. I'm hoping Monday though. Can't see them doing a Sunday release.

I am so excited, as I have been for months, to get this phone. A few days ago I was feeling angry at Verizon for not releasing it (and I was stuck using an old LG Dare) so I "rented" a Rezound. It's one heck of a phone and I almost feel as if I'll miss it, but I'm 100% sure it's going back...kind of wish I had rented a crappy Razr instead!

I really want the nexus and am looking forward to ICS!! however, I'm entering a new contract with verizon under a family plan and can get the rezound on amazon for a penny! Not sure if I want to pay the $300 although it is the phone I'd rather have :(

Few things I got:
-Excited to wake up and see the BB posting, but a bit skeptical. If they have a typo on the page, I'm a little curious whether it's legit.
-I've yet to email WMATA (DC Metro) about potential NFC functionality with their system. Would really love them to implement it within a couple years. We have a CC SmarTrip card that we use. Wonder how hard it is to give NFC compatibility to phones?
-For those posting for posting sake (to reach goals), be aware the Mods are not fans of this; it's been explicitly stated.
-Finally, hoping this phone gets released asap, my Bionic is pretty much a piece and I miss flashing ROMs (easily) as often as I did on my Droid!

Tough decision

U could always exchange and come back

Could, but I don't think I will. Rezound seems to be a sleeper hit type phone that I think will keep me happy for awhile. Aside from a rebooting problem afflicting a few users, there don't seem to be many significant problems at all, and a lot of people saying Sense is really usable and fast on the phone.

Maybe in 6-9months if my finances allow I'll see what quadcores w/2GB RAM are for sale. :)

Maybe Verizon will still do a deal like the Black Friday ad where new activations get $100 off.

Wait seriously it has a rebooting problem. You would think HTC would learn from the Thunderbolt :tsk: :tsk:

Yep. I've already seen home security referenced, as well as hotel door keys. It wouldn't be any stretch to see things like membership & rewards card type applications integrated. Basically, any card in your wallet can be replaced with NFC.

But those applications of the technology are a little too practical and boring. I want to see it employed in something that's just... out there. Something we haven't conceived, that's going to be the next big thing. Not payment or identity related.
