Ur right...ill wait till tomorrow to thank the 500 posts(can one of the mods tell me if I'm allowed to do so or not)

I'm still expecting three posts out of all of you though

Well... 3vil just came under mod scrutiny for gaming the Thanks system, so I really wouldn't go there if were you.

It's going to come down to wider adoption. Maybe Google has the chops to pull this off. I can already walk in to any Peet's around here and they've got Google Wallet stickers on their doors, and NFC-enabled readers at their registers.

But I look back 6 years to a previous job where we were specing out a new parking control system, and I was pushing for RFID credit card readers (PayPass I think they're calling it now?). I thought it was going to be the "new thing." Our consultant said No, so we didn't go with it, and look where we are today -- practically no adoption of this standard in the US.

True, but if you look overseas especially in asian markets, phone payment has blown up. It is true that implementation is easier in a smaller market, but as evidenced by this thread, Americans also love their tech. We'll get there and I think we people really see how awesome this stuff is, adoption will move more quickly. I'd say from here forward, android phones released are going to be trending inclusion of NFC. That combined with the fruit company including it at some point and NFC will be the hot new thing fairly quickly.

Ya ur right(but wasn't he in trouble b/c he used a script to do it)

Anyway, I'm gonna hold off on thanking the posts unless I get an okay from a mod

I've had family in town for the holidays so I haven't been on line that much this week. That said, I'm not sure if this has been posted or not.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus unboxing video - YouTube

It is a pretty long video, but the interesting thing is that it shows adobe flash support towards the end. So it looks like flash is here for ICS and the Nexus now.

Ok, so I cached this whole video up at 720p (which is not small feat with this slug of a network we have here at work), and I'm about half way through. By far THE BEST unboxing video I've watched yet -- or else I'm just in the right mood.

But the most remarkable portion so far is at around the 15 minute mark, where the tester begins web browsing and shows some good video of really small text, which is crystal clear and oh-so-readable.

Most of the display tests I've watched so far concentrate on video playback, but readable small text is the real test, and the Nexus screen seems to pass with flying colors.

I wasn't able to sleep before.. Now I'm never going to be able to sleep!!!!!!
that best buy as is giving me insomnia even more!!!!
After considering the Droid 4 (physical Kb fan), it's back to nexus mania !!
This OG Droid will be retired soon enough!

Yeah it was surely the scripting that got their attention (although it was amusing). IDK, I'm too tired to play forum cop and nobody asked me to do that anyway. ;)

Yes. Initially Mods were impressed at his devotion. Things only went downhill for him once he admitted scripting was being used. I think we're in the clear and at the very least, mods will see our intent and just ask us to change something. We're not trying to break any rules. We're legitimately thanking each other for staying up and keeping each other company while sleep eludes us. IMO anyways :)

So u think I should do it or wait & see?
I'm leaning towards wait & see(don't want to have to go unthank the 500 posts)

What's everyone's favorite feature on the Nexus? I'm torn between ICS and that display.

Easily, for me, ICS.
i've been dying for a new phone with the OG DROID.. and being able to replace it with a new phone experience would be incredible.
anything 2.whatever all looks the same to me.
I'm writing this on a honeycomb tablet.. So getting an Android phone with an entirely new user experience is the biggest feature for me.

Screen and NFC for me. Keep trying to expand on my NFC hopes and dreams but keep getting sidetracked by all the comments flying. Lol I love that fact that we are all on here at 5:30 in the morning (if you're in EST like me) and enjoying the fact that other people are crazy (according to my girlfriend every time I get on here) like me! :)

Thanksgiving reminded me to give thanks. That's my excuse at least.

ICS and the display surely top any list, but what'll be most exciting is the developer attention this hotrod phone will get. Even with hardware that's similar to a handful of other phones out right now, Nexus will get kewl customizations first.

This is so true. I'd love to link you to an article I read about credit card security in Europe vs. the US, but I'd never find it (probably in the NY Times archive, $$) but essentially US banks are willing to maintain our less secure mag stripe system due to convenience and relatively small losses. European banks are much more interested in preventing fraudulent use, and are pushing these NFC/RFID measures. Some travelers from the US with mag-stripe only credit cards were SOL at many self-service venues and even some retailers, because they were either not equipped or unwilling to take payment via this old tech.

Either way brother (or sister lol). I think mods will be something close to proud of us that we're all hanging in here together to celebrate the fact that we're getting really really close to having this phone. I'm definitely gonna be thanking like crazy for people staying up with me, but the call is definitely yours.

On a similar note, I hope I see a lot of you guys sticking around here once this think comes out. I feel like I know a lot of you guys in real life and I'm really looking forward to share my experiences and modifications with you guys once I have this awesome device in my hands.
