I am in central NJ and its the same all over. I feel we are getting closer to an announcement, no? If RAZR's are now selling out I think our time is near. I will go to VZW headquarter, right near my house, and kick asses if the DROID 4 takes precedent over our beloved GNEX.

On a side note it better come I just beat COD MW3. Anyone thinking that the missions are too short? Sorry for the off topic question...

Regarding the Droid 4 vs Galaxy Nexus, I'm not entirely convinced Verizon will hold the Galaxy Nexus to try and sell more Droid 4s. If I'm looking for a phone with a keyboard, then the Droid 4 is the obvious choice. However, if you don't care about the keyboard, I can't imagine anyone buying a Droid 4 over even a RAZR. Kind of stupid to carry around extra bulk if you're never going to use it (sorry Rezound...).

That being said, Verizon will do what Verizon wants, and the Galaxy Nexus will be released when it's released...or whenever Google/Samsung take matters into their own hands.
 
Off topic: I get to bring my mother to Verizon today for them to look at her POS Droid2. It has now taken to making funny looking characters when she texts and randomly sends texts unfinished. I have battery pulled, i have reset. Nada. Damn thing hates us.

On topic: I will attempt to use charm to get any possible info while I'm there

Razrs are selling out? I guess verizon sales tactics are starting to work, I can't imagine they would ever sell out if the nexus was available. I'll go protest in basking ridge with you.

Bolded the key point. They specialize in doing things that seemingly make no sense, but when you take into consideration their idiocy, it does make sense in a weird way.

Take the HTC Device launch, for example. Kellex leaked that it would be available on November 14, a Monday. We all thought that it appeared to make no sense, but when you took into consideration that his sources also told him that the Nexus would release on the 17th, it made perfect sense: Give the HTC a few days in the limelight, but reserve the normal Thursday release for the real star of the week.

But then nothing happened on the 17th.

Appears to make no sense at all. Why release the RAZR on a Friday, the HTC device on a Monday, and nothing on the regular Thursday release? It only makes sense if you realize that this was their original plan. But at the last minute they changed their minds and decided to do nothing, and announce nothing.

Of course, their BF and Holiday shopping ads were already contracted through Best Buy and the online ad agency that they always use. But someone in Marketing forgot to pull the ads or postpone them. So you got to freak out the masses with a $199 ad that was supposed to be for Black Friday, and a Best Buy circular that was announcing it as the latest addition to the Galaxy family.

It's hard to imagine that such a huge company could be capable of such boneheaded, amateur mistakes. But there you have it.

Man, not only were you a great President, you are a great asset to this thread! I now, totally lol at all those silly haters on various tech sites saying how the LTE version is so much thicker, fools!! I like the silver pins and the darker gray/ silver color sceme too, very slick.

BB I feel your mom's pain. I too have a Droid2, lol I rhymed! It is doing random things. Won't place calls, when I hit the call button takes forever to complete the call, double sending texts, you name it.

I am rooted and was trying to refrain from ROM'ing it so that I can have our lovely GNEX in my hands instead but it seems that if it doesn't come sooner than later than I am SOL!

LOL Basking Ridge it is!!! I know right where the main drive to the headquarters is. At the very least we can take out an exec with a working GNEX and make it ours!!! LOL!!!

I live in New Jersey :) I'll check, but I REALLY think they just forgot to take that page down. There is absolutely NO WAY Best Buy will have this phone for sale before Verizon

I don't think it was going to be sold before Verizon in the first place... the ad is valid from today until 12/31, and it didn't even say a release date.
 
I am upgrading from a OG Droid to the Nexus, but I want to find a use for my old phone and not throw it into a box like my SCH-i730. I know some people are going to use there phone as a clock, but I already have a nice clock radio that I use for sleep and my desk is too crowded for a second phone. I was also thinking of using it as a wi-fi only device, but my Nook Color does most of that too with a bigger screen. So does anyone have some suggestions?

Also, for people keeping there phone plugged in 24/7 and worried about their battery, just buy one of those power timers and cycle it off a few hours a day. Although that might have a new set of problems.
 
Isn't it possible that the volume bug is what Verizon was worried about, and since it is fixed, we could be ready for takeoff?

There have been reports that samsung was holding back shipments of the gsm model to flash the update. Maybe same thing for the LTE version?

I'm giving my DX to my daughter (6) to use as a game and MP3 player. She already uses it quite a bit when it's not in my hands.

But as to your suggestion, consider donating it. Any old phone, even if not activated, can be used to call 911 in an emergency situation. There are plenty of people who could use such a device.
