Verizon doesn't care what you activate. I've activated a number of...shall we say "test" devices. You need to speak to the CSR to do so, but according to my NDA I couldn't tell them what I was activating. They always shrugged and said "...ok, I suppose it's fine if it goes through..."

Granted, the company I was testing for probably shipped VZW all of the MEID codes and had them marked as active.

That's my understanding of their policy as well. They quietly started accepting thr use of phones from other carriers some time ago, but never made a big deal of it and never mattered much with CDMA. I'd imagine an early release or test model would be the same.

Yep, I agree. Listed tomorrow for overnight delivery and in store sales on Tuesday.

I'm going to be optimistic like scottg96 and say it'll be out on Tuesday :)

omg I just realized 96 is the year of his birth. My ex graduated high school then. Adorbs... Sleep deprivation makes me type in girly abbreviations apparently. Im going back to bed.

Gonna call my BB store in 30 min. when they open. Here's to hoping I get something out of it!

OT: why can't I thank any posts from the app? The thanks button mysteriously disappeared :S
Edit: nevermind, they reappeared. Strange...

Tried calling a Best Buy in Watertown, MA, but their phone system was broken and I couldn't get through to anyone to check. AndroidCentral's latest post makes me think Best Buy won't tell us anything more, though perhaps if we call enough someone will slip some information? The local stores really have no idea what's going on, which isn't really a surprise (or their fault).

I just read the fine print on that Best Buy ad:

*Carriers, coverage and products may vary by store. Available in New Jersey. Carrier requirements may include data plan subscription, credit approval, usage fees and termination fees.

"Available in New Jersey"?

ONLY New Jersey???

Am I going to have to figure out what exit BabyBlues lives off and go storm the Best Buy with her? Or is this thing going nationwide and they just mentioned New Jersey for some weird reason?

Makes no sense to me, folks...

I want the GSM model so I think my best bet is to go ahead and order online. I am concerned about warranty issues when buying from either Expansys USA or Negri Electronics, but I have seen posts on this board from users who have purchased from both of these companies and they claim the retailers will provide "warranty assistance".

I believe that eventually Best Buy will sell the GSM Galaxy Nexus, but who knows how long that will be. Does buying an unlocked phone at Best Buy (vs buying from the two online retailers I mentioned) provide any additional "protection" or benefits? Can you buy an extended warranty on this kind of purchase? I'm not a Best Buy shopper so any info or opinions are welcomed.

Companies have regional promotions all the time. It probably refers less to availability, but more towards pricing or special offers.

But for once I'm glad I live in NJ.

So, now that we have the first REAL pictures of the LTE version (courtesy of Best Buy and zedster's hacking skillz), I figured I'd make a comparison between the two versions.

As you can see, the difference in shape and thickness is a lot less obvious than previously suggested. When I overlayed the two images, they were exactly the same thickness, within a few pixels.

Long time lurker first time poster.

I just called my local Best Buy store and they could not find the phone sku in the order system. I was told that he was looking on the website and could not find it there either. I read off the item number that is listed on the ad but still no luck.

Now me a sad panda

Thanks for the pic. For some reason all the pictures of the LTE version make it look like it has a different form on the side... well I guess we'll have to see how it is when we finally get them in our hands ;)

Good work. Thanks for posting this.

But I'm curious why you say these are the first real pictures. I've seen similar pictures posted for a while now. What makes these more real or the others not as real?

As you noticed, the real world differnce in thickness is about two sheets of paper.
