***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Isn't it possible that the volume bug is what Verizon was worried about, and since it is fixed, we could be ready for takeoff?

There have been reports that samsung was holding back shipments of the gsm model to flash the update. Maybe same thing for the LTE version?

The bug was proven to only happen on the 900 MHz frequency, of which the CDMA version does not have.

I don't think it was going to be sold before Verizon in the first place... the ad is valid from today until 12/31, and it didn't even say a release date.

Maybe BB just thought why pull the ad, no one knows about this phone anyway---there has been no advertising, Verizon hasn't acknowleged its release date, derp, derp. Yeah, I know this makes no sense, but then again, what HAS made any sense regarding this LTE phone. I mean, if they delay much longer, the phone will be a full fleged legend--Something that increasingly people will believe is nothing but a myth!

I've been playing with a GSM Galaxy Nexus that my friend got from Expansys. Here are my impressions.

ICS is better than everything else in the market. Definitely worth the wait. It's like the hardware doesn't matter anymore. Once you have ICS in your hands all the reasons why you don't want the phone (no SD card support, etc.) will vanish and you'll start making excuses to buy the phone on the spot. It is that good.

Redesigned google apps (Gmail, Email, Calendar) are amazing. It is for this reason alone that I recommend people to stay away from RAZR or Rezound. Even if they get ICS, I don't know what they will do to the stock apps.

Hardware feels nice. The screen is gorgeous. No need to worry about pentile. Doesn't feel or look cheap.

The few issues that I have are:
The volume of the ringtone/notification is too low for my taste.
The phone feels great and doesn't seem too big at all except for a few instances. When using it in one hand, it is hard to pull down the notification tray with your thumb. You have to stretch it out a bit.
Couldn't find BBC news, HBO GO in the market. All of my apps are working except for HD widgets. I wish the devs update the apps soon for the sake of UI consistency.
I wish Google would make google wallet work already. I'm dying to use this phone as a payment method and I wish it comes to Verizon's version.
I wish we could make folders inside the app launcher like GO launcher does.
I wish the GMail and Email widgets could be made smaller. They take up almost half the screen.
I don't mind the google search bar at the top but I think the voice search at the top is not accessible to your thumb (which is at the bottom) with one handed use.

Great phone but my dream phone would be GS2 + ICS even with the lower res screen. The exynos processor is awesome, GS2 camera is better and the size is perfect. I still feel Gingerbread on GS2 is faster.

Thanks for the input.

Spoke to BB mobile and they told me no firm date but they had heard this week.(fingers crossed) I think everything is coming together. I believe that this week will be the week, but I have been wrong b4. scottg96 I have joined your optimistic party. Bring on the Nexus. I can't believe how tight lipped VZW is keeping this.

BB I feel your mom's pain. I too have a Droid2, lol I rhymed! It is doing random things. Won't place calls, when I hit the call button takes forever to complete the call, double sending texts, you name it.

I am rooted and was trying to refrain from ROM'ing it so that I can have our lovely GNEX in my hands instead but it seems that if it doesn't come sooner than later than I am SOL!

She won't let me root it. :(

Is it bad when you don't want to take your dog outside because you don't want to miss post 50k? After typing that I realize it's probably best I head outside now...

Lol. It's amazing how putting something in writing can make you do something.

The poor Best Buy employees are probably wondering why they are fielding so many calls this morning.

Best Buy is a dead end people. The ad is old news, and everyone should have know if when they couldn't even get the correct name of the phone (lest everyone forget, Verizon announced this as the Galaxy Nexus).

Only Verizon will give us an accurate release date. I hope for this week, but it's just that.......hope.

sweeeeeeet they make carlton sweater cases for the SGN

But since people have been calling, about 10 reported back that their representatives told them they think a release this week is going to happen. Is that the employees just assuming? Or just trying to get us off their backs? Or maybe that's what they were told to say and it might actually be releasing this week?

I have been a staunch supporter of this party since I have up on the idea of a week of 11/21 release. Welcome.

Yeah, I think it's safe to say that Best Buy doesn't have it nor do they know anything.

And with that, I'm off to get ready to take my kids to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch, followed by the Muppet Movie.

Have fun breaking 50K!

After being redirected from main desk to mobile, then put on hold for 10 minutes, then being redirected back to the main desk, then being redirected back to mobile, at which point I was put on hold for another 5 minutes and then redirected to a completely different rep after inquiring about the Nexus, I FINALLY got a guy to tell me something...
...he said "projected launch date is December 8th--errr, 18th"
(he said it was based on rumors though so he was likely wrong)
Why do you keep torturing yourself. That information you got was just as credible as throwing a dart at a calender.

NO ONE AT THE RETAIL LEVEL KNOWS ANYTHING REGARDING THE RELEASE DATE.

He probably went to google while you were on hold and looked up a date. 18th is also bogus because it's a Sunday.

Are they serious? Isn't it rezound, not rezoundT? Their CORRECTION sheet needs a correction. I think its safe to say we should disregard anything we see at best buy from now on.

Lol, pretty sad, eh?

Unless you wanna end up looking like this guy.....yeah GO OUTSIDE!!!

Isn't it possible that the volume bug is what Verizon was worried about, and since it is fixed, we could be ready for takeoff?

Well, big Red does seem to be looking for any possible thing to stall this launch so....

There have been reports that samsung was holding back shipments of the gsm model to flash the update. Maybe same thing for the LTE version?

Doubt that would be any real reason..

True, but Verizon may have said they wanted to know the exact source of the bug, not just the known side effects before sending out the phone.

Yes so they can continue their unique special Nexus song:
Delay, delay, delay, Delay!, Delay!, Delay!.

PS: I hate you Verizon
