***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Well what I would tell MY son is "if you want XXX, you will learn to do chores". Of course, he has been doing chores - including his own laundry - since he was 10 (he's now 18). Not sure how old you are, but perhaps it's time you begin doing adult things, such as chores, if you want adult toys, such as the GNex. Not trying to pee in your cornflakes or anything, but if you want something but aren't willing to make any sort of sacrifice to get it, then the way I was brought up, you don't really deserve to have it.

^^^This x1000.

At the very least your grades in school better be well above average.

What's big and red and can't release the galaxy nexus? You're only going to need one guess.

Clifford?

;)

Stopped into my Verizon store to play with the Rezound. I of course asked a rep about the Nexus. Nothing of note to offer other than she had what was an obviously scripted response, which probably means there have been quite a few inquiries. Also, she was smokin hot.

On a side note, does anyone know if the VZW double data promo becomes a grandfathered thing or do you lose it if you change devices? I asked the sales rep but she basically didn't know.

Current 4g phone users can opt in so yes, I imagine you are grandfathered in.

Long long long time lurker. Finally joining the discussion. :) I've really enjoyed all the perspectives you guys have.

You have to remember that Verizon Wireless reps/sales team does not have any inside information on when the Nexus is coming out. That's the number 1 thing that drives me insane as I read through the 1,000 pages (congratulations btw!!). I know 4-5 people who work with Verizon and they all say the same thing: "The focus is on what we have now. We need to sell what's on the floor and they'll never allow us to leak information that would push buyers away from a current product."

So please, stop asking people who work for Verizon. They do not know. That's been the Verizon way for a very long time. I know a few people with over 15 years experience.

Welcome to the madness!!!

I'm starting to think I should do swappa so I can start service cheaply without a lock-in, but the question is when and why. I'm thinking if there's no word on the gnex by dec 15th. Thoughts?

Didn't I suggest to somebody who needed a QB in fantasy that Fitzpatrick was an excellent choice? ;) I do believe a post after mine said they'd rather take their infant daughter over Mr. Fitz, haha.

I wouldn't take any news we hear until Monday seriously. If some news was going to break, it most likely would have been during the week, or at the very beginning of the weekend.

Nice avatar, Biker! (I considered calling you BB but...) :D

Thanks Roosevelt, I figure two Zounds makes a Rezound. :)

I've gotten over the loss of BB'ness tens of thousands of posts ago. I like the new one, she's sassy!

So are you with the Rez for good or is it just until the Gnex comes out?

Most likely for good. I only started to notice its existence amid reviews about a week ago and was very impressed. Honestly $300 is rich for my blood these days, so I wouldn't have been able to justify a full-priced GNex anytime soon.

I can sell the Rez on eBay or Swappa to get a GNex, which I've reeeeally wanted for a looooong time, but right now I'm hoping to like it well enough to keep it. Yes, there is some regret, and it feels totally weird to abruptly switch races only yards from the finish line. :o

Why not try to sell it on here:

Maybe at least give another member here an almost brand-new phone?

Just a suggestion.:)

Just make sure it's a 4g phone. The double data only applies to those phones. I couldn't apply it to my bf's iphone at all.

I disagree. If you're working for verizon, you deserve to hear what the customer wants. How else will verizon know, if we don't tell them?

What you and I might perceive to work, isn't exactly how the big red sees it. :) If Verizon tries to hype up the GNex, why would anyone buy the Rezound or Razr? I mean.. look how much money they put into selling those two phones.

So if you are a Verizon Wireless salesperson, your job is to sell what's on the floor. The two top phones right now are the Rez & Razr. Those are your selling points. Big red will worry about the rest.

Even if I agree with how you handle the situation, it's not up to us to decide. I have 4-5 people telling me the same thing and they work for the company. I also have had 2-3 actual workers that I do not know tell me it as well. That's consistency in what they are telling me.

hello! long time lurker and I just now decided I would make it worthwhile and make and account! patiently waiting for the gnex like all of you! man this forum is addicting LOL!

Welcome and thanks for deciding to join!!!

Everybody is very helpful here and if they don't know the answer, someone else here can point you in the right direction.

But I'm still a firm believer that we'll see something this week or next, and no later :)

+1

I would think that if Verizon Wireless wanted to maximize their sales for 2011, they would release this phone soon. "Better" and "faster" phones will be appearing in Q1 and Q2 of 2012.

Which store was this? I may need to drop in and see if I can probe her for some more info. My guess is that she was holding back on you.
