She seems to be happy with it. Hasn't looked up from it for about an hour. I want my turn to play with it already. lol

lol

Just curious how big are your wife's hands? My wife doesn't think she will get used to the size of the phone compared to an iPhone 4.

OCing = more strain on the battery... considering you're already getting 1.2 GHz dual-core, I don't see why people would feel the need to OC.

I know ICS is supposed to be optimized and everything but that cpu and gpu are pushing a lot of pixels and I want my phone to be as smooth and quick as an iphone 4s.

Since TI designed this chip to run at 1.5 ghz I cant imagine it would cause instabiliy. I'm not too concerned with battery life since I will have LTE turned off as my city doesn't have it yet.

Btw, anyone know when we will start seeing the 28nm lte chips that will help battery life?

Preorder 29th would make this week release doubtful. I think Verizon usually likes to do a preorder 2 weeks before launch. But, if they are waiting for bug fixes to release, who knows how that might change a preorder schedule.

+1

I would think that if Verizon Wireless wanted to maximize their sales for 2011, they would release this phone soon. "Better" and "faster" phones will be appearing in Q1 and Q2 of 2012.

Interesting way to look at it. More from a wallstreet/business aspect. I would expect their numbers to be amazingly high for this quarter w/ the phones they came out with.

I think it is beyond obvious that store reps have no clue about upcoming phones (not to mention the commission aspect of what influences the information they give to potential customers), but this really does look like a case of sales pitch training.

Think about it, if people kept coming into your store, VZW, and taking up your time during the holidays asking about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus that is not out yet, and you can tell they want a new phone (otherwise they would not be in the store) what kind of sales approach would you engineer to turn these customers while you have them in front of you?? Think about it, sales reps need money before the holidays and im sure with the hype this phone is carrying people are asking about it and im sure it is getting pretty annoying seeing people walk out empty handed and no added sales commission to their pocket.

Answer--- Tell them "Yeah were hearing its delayed till next year" blah blah blah.. Im not just saying this with wishful thinking but my best friend works at T-Mobile and he deals with this type of stuff all the time. Its a pretty common tactic. (even if he knows it will be out in X days or X weeks he just gives them the doom and gloom talk and pushs the current latest and greatest)

So, I would stop asking SALES reps, who's job is to sell you a phone and contract right then and there, and just be patient because until VZW says it wont be out this year I will have to believe it will be since they already said it would.. Just saying+

I would agree with you that VZW's numbers this quarter will be high and probably their YOY numbers will also be quite impressive. This will indeed be directly related to the "better" types of phones this year.

What's with all the people on probation? Natives getting restless? Go out and have some fun, watch some football and have a beer. Life is great people! It's just a phone.

OK, I'll stop using logic now. :)

I'd forgotten about that, thanks. If I do sell it I'll make sure to list it there.

OTOH, I just noticed that the iBeats headphones that come w/Rezound (that I'd never use) are selling for upwards of $76 on eBay -- woohoo! :D

No problem and thanks. :)

Good luck with your sale once we all get our SGNs.

Small, she cant use it with one hand. Shes coming from the incredible so its a little bit of adjustment. She usually likes smaller phones, but the only other option was an iPhone and she wanted nothing to do with it.

What you and I might perceive to work, isn't exactly how the big red sees it. :) If Verizon tries to hype up the GNex, why would anyone buy the Rezound or Razr? I mean.. look how much money they put into selling those two phones.

So if you are a Verizon Wireless salesperson, your job is to sell what's on the floor. The two top phones right now are the Rez & Razr. Those are your selling points. Big red will worry about the rest.

Even if I agree with how you handle the situation, it's not up to us to decide. I have 4-5 people telling me the same thing and they work for the company. I also have had 2-3 actual workers that I do not know tell me it as well. That's consistency in what they are telling me.

But it *is* up to us to decide if we want to give feedback to VZW employees--regardless of their station in the organization. This isn't to say that it will work--it may, or it may not, but there's nothing to lose in the application of pressure from the customer base.

I don't disagree with telling Verizon, but I don't see the point in telling the sales reps. If you don't like the job President Obama is doing do you complain to the army private who works for him?

No, but I would certainly complain to the intern for my Senator or Representative. (Which, IMHO, is a better analogy).

Long long long time lurker. Finally joining the discussion. :) I've really enjoyed all the perspectives you guys have.

You have to remember that Verizon Wireless reps/sales team does not have any inside information on when the Nexus is coming out. That's the number 1 thing that drives me insane as I read through the 1,000 pages (congratulations btw!!). I know 4-5 people who work with Verizon and they all say the same thing: "The focus is on what we have now. We need to sell what's on the floor and they'll never allow us to leak information that would push buyers away from a current product."

So please, stop asking people who work for Verizon. They do not know. That's been the Verizon way for a very long time. I know a few people with over 15 years experience.

Welcome to the madness that is our little corner of the internet...Good luck keeping your sanity! :)

I am nearly willing to bet money that this 'tipster' is the poster here who was speculating 29th based on what a Rep allegedly told him...

Thanks.

I just wish I could get her to switch over to Android. I was already able to move her upgrade date, but she refuses to use it right now. Oh well...I need to pick my battles.

You might win me over in this argument, but you will never win over Verizon. It's the way they do things.

And yes, you are looking at this as a consumer who wants the Nexus. People on this forum aren't the same as 90% of other consumers. Not everybody checks the forums. They just buy a phone and the sales team does a great job with what they have.

So when a rep tells a normal customer "I'd wait just 2 more weeks. A better phone will be released 12/8. " A consumer walks out. That's not good for business. Sell now and get the contract. Sell the accessories. Make this a relationship for a long time.

You may very well be right:D:eek: But after lurking in the shadows today I felt like we needed a little positive rumoring:D

The issue is feedback versus harassment. If you're talking about valid feedback and you're not abusing the VZW employees I guess there's nothing to lose by trying.

I know as an airline pilot I don't really enjoy when passengers complain to me about ticket prices or flight schedules. It's out of my control and there is nothing I can do about it.

My point is there are better channels in any organization/corporation for providing input than "the application of pressure" to a front line employee.
