Root Rooting issues with Rev 2.3.3 HELP!!!!!!!!!!! EVO 4G

I am no n00b to hacking/jailbreaking/tweaking. Rooting yes but I understand the instructions but I must be missing something. I have dropped the signed.zip on the SD root also I can not use the rev.exe to install clockwork due to no wi-fiso I downloaded it as zip renamed it to the 36img.zip (forgot the full name) (if you know what it needs to be naked for EVO 4G pls post it) dropped that tosd root also I power down with fastboot off (its not power fastboot off:::it is HOMESCREEN/MENU/SETTINGS/APPS/FASTBOOT UNCHECK) hold volume down press power let go then let go volume . Then you are in recovery mode. It should say revolutionary at the top then it scans. At this point I am lost. When it scans it finds nothing I go to recovery and select it it goes to the screen saying its loading a Rom (phone with green arrrow circled) after 5 arcs it goes to phone image with red ! In a triangle . I have to pull battery and I can't seem to figure this out pls help anyone . Also when I do use revs exe version when it asks to install clockwork I choose yes and the exe will forceclose ..

I moved this into the EVO 4G - All Things Root section for you, I think you'll get better help there.

Read the dummies guide in my sig. That is where you should start. Also you don't need clockwork. Amon Ra is better

That was the guide I was using before I had to come here and ask. I have used evilechos guide also. The phone is not seeing the the .zips when I try the manual recovery.
For info reasons my versionis 2.3.3 and my hboot is 2.16.001. The ing.zip for clock I have renamed to PC36IMG.ZIP that has been dropped to root of SD.

ok you can't do anything as with your recovery as you are not rooted from the looks pf your hboot. do you have s-off? once you have s-off then you can start messing around with recovery. run the revolutionary exe file and enter the beta key and it should root your phone for you.

sorry hboot is 6.16.1002 the rev ...........OK i have solved the issue on my own. there are many things that are not explained in any of the guides. i will be posting my own guide with better detail. i will post the link to that guide on this thread asap.

What wasn't clear? We have had several people use the guides with great success. Most people seem to enjoy how detailed they are.
 
i'm having problems rooting my buddies' 2.3.3 EVO. don't know why. unrevoked didn't work and neither did my super root software; that worked on my nexus S when nothing else did, so i'm just... lost here.
