***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I, like everyone else am anxiously anticipating getting this phone on Verizon, but I am using my last annual upgrade to get the phone, which limits me to ONLY buying from VZW (third party retailers don't recognize the annual upgrade, only NE2). It also COSTS me more money because with the annual upgrade you have to pay a "early upgrade fee" of $35, plus I have to pay sales tax by not ordering from Amazon.

My NE2 is coming up in February, so if I don't hear anything soon (middle of December), I'm going to wait until the new phones are announced next year.

Not to cause a fire storm but I've never been a fan of Star Wars.. Just can't get down on it.. and I'ma 80's baby. Like literally born in the 80's.

The one disappointing part of this article is that if it's true. The GNEX will definitely be treated as a redheaded step child on release coming at the same time as the Droid 4

Why does that disappoint? That mean more Nexus for you.. Plus the DROID 4.5/5 will be out in March anyways.

Because it means that far less of them will be in the wild. So there won't be as many accessories available for it and less Dev support too.

Definitely not for everyone I understand. However, I think the bigger fans aka die-hards are more from the 60's and 70's. Although I do know some much younger folk who love the series

Good morning as well.

But let me address another point for you and others. Verizon never said anything but before end of year. We are all disappointed in Verizon, but for what? All speculations of early release have been rumors. We should direct our anger at the rumor mill, not Verizon.

It will come when it's ready, and we'll all look back at this tiny wait and laugh. Even now, people who were just as testy in the DInc thread look back in fondness.

it seems like i'm disagreeing with you a lot - and truly, it is absolutely NOT personal! :D

you are correct that VZW has been extremely vague about a release date. but, with all of the "mishaps" over the weekend with the internet banner ads, and Best Buy's ad page, plus Matias Duarte saying that it would release in Nov, i think it's pretty clear that this device was supposed to be out by now, but VZW is holding it back for whatever reason (maybe a good reason, maybe not).

i think VZW has earned some anger and frustration being directed its way. that being said, i am not in any way advocating twitter bombs or the like. but, i don't think that airing frustration at VZW (in forums such as this) is completely unwarranted - unproductive, yes; but not unwarranted... :)

This phone is gonna get release and fly off the shelves and Verizon is gonna say to themselves: "Hmmmmm I think we might have kicked ourselves in the ninnies with this one!"

if the Gnex and D4 do come out on the same day or around the same time i forsee this happening for the most part at the Verizon stores.

"HEY WELCOME TO VERIZON CAN I HELP YOU PICK OUT WHICH DROID 4 YOU WANT AND YOU CAN PURCHASE IT RIGHT NOW, SOUND GOOD? GREAT!...."

"No actually I'm looking for the Galaxy Nexus"

"oh...that's over there"

Trust me DEV support on a phone with an unlocked bootloader will be endless.

Ever heard of Peter Alfonso? He has already compiled a build for the GSM version of ICS and has been supporting the OG forever.. DEV support wont be an issue..

Peter is just one of many.

As far as accessories, I wouldn't sweat that. I got the Bionic when it was released and couldnt find a damn Media Dock in the store for the life of me..

Every day I eagerly look forward to tomorrow for some concrete information from VZW. Looks like today is another one of those days. Here's to hoping for a preorder/announcement...tomorrow. *sigh*

Pretty much. I cant wait to see a dusty DROID 4 sitting on the shelf at Verizon. Despite their favoritism.

I found a decent article to read. No new info, but good writing IMO.
Verizon Galaxy Nexus Confirmation For December 8th
No offense, but I strongly dislike that site. They always have an overly sensationalist tone in their pieces that turns me off. Worse, they're always several days behind with their news, which in the past week as the conflicting reports were coming out about the bugs in the Nexus, was dangerous. Check out this story posted on the 22nd. I'll let you all figure out who the anonymous comments poster is. :p

I think a lot of the frustration is at how American carriers handle releases in general. People are tired of seeing something released all over the world, but they have to wait for (usually) the carrier to bastardize it with whatever they want. This may not be the case with the Nexus, and it may not even be Verizon's fault for the delay, but the release is just ending up to be a less awful version of the GS2 being all over the place, and then the US months later.

Yes I've heard of Peter Alfonso. I know there will be dev support I just feel the more devices sold will translate to more dev support.
