***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I just came to two very sad realizations...

1. the reason the LivingSocial deal begins on Tuesday is probably only because Monday is still part of Black Friday weekend, and
2. the Samsung marketing portfolio leaked in that roadmap from a while ago seems to be focused on the Stratosphere and Charge for now... as seen in that newly uploaded Verizon ad on YouTube.

Well there may still be hope. Who knows :S

Soooo.... If they just pushed 4.0.2 does that mean 2 more weeks of testing?
I hope not, but who knows. I just hope that whatever software updates they make are pushed via OTA rather than shipping the phones with the updated software. I don't want to think about how long it would take Verizon and/or Samsung to update a few hundred thousand (?) LTE GNexes themselves.

Plus, they could keep testing and patching and testing and patching and the phone would never see the light of day... they need to just push the phone out and worry about updates later. That's the benefit of being a Nexus!

In that TechnoBuffalo review, he said:

Now to Google's credit, they have given you controls of what's going to sync or not sync, which previous versions of Android really did not. So you can show which contacts you want to show, it's not just going to pull in all of the people you've ever emailed from your gmail account.

When I first got my OG Droid, the very first thing I did was set it so that it synced with my gmail account, and specifically, it only synced with a specific folder in my contacts. My phone does not sync with all of my contacts (which includes people I've recently emailed).

Typically, it means they go back and test the defects and a limited testing of typical features.

So no, it shouldn't take the full test cycle to test again. Mil grade, medical, and mission critical stuff they do go back in and test everything again, just to make sure the fix didn't break something else. I doubt Verizon will require a full retest.

The Nexus is all on the inside;) Or at least, the most important part.

If the requirements for FINALLY getting a Nexus on VZW included and was limited to their branding on the back- I'll gladly take it. In most cases, you are the only one that is ever going to look at the back of your phone (or look at it intently enough to decipher any branding). If that vanity is important to ya, by all means vent.

Doesn't make a difference to me. I know it bothers some people.

Question, one of the rumors about the GNex release from early on was that it would be web only and with this there was speculation that it would also be a soft launch.

So, if it is a web only soft launch, then would we not be able to preorder the GNex at a VZW corporate store? Wouldn't this also keep the GNex from showing up in the corporate stores computer systems?

This thread title seems GROSSLY irresponsible given we're going off rumor. I would love to see a release tomorrow as much as everyone else here but we're potentially setting ourselves for a world of butthurt. I suggest taking it down until we have something concrete.

Yeah he said some false stuff in that video...

Yeah he is wrong about that, bc my DInc can do that too...

There's ?'s in the title for a reason. Most tech web sites post rumors like this with a ? to indicate that it's not for sure but that it's a somewhat believable rumor. That's all this is.

I hope you are right. I actually am happy to see an update roll out... Perhaps Verizon wasn't just full of it when they said technical issues were holding it up... And perhaps now they are fixed :)

That is an excellent idea. Hopefully it works

My concern with using the GSM back on the Verizon version is the internals are changed. The SIM card on the GSM version is in a different location than the SIM card on the LTE version. Also the battery is larger. I'm hoping that doesn't mess up the location of the hooks/clips and the GSM back is otherwise identical to the LTE back. Wishful thinking. I'll post back when I have information. In the mean time, maybe someone can order a GSM back cover and have it ready? :)

The thread title has always been based off rumors and it does say preorder with a few ????'s.

Bah! Ninja Turtled again.

This is what I'm kind of afraid of. I'm going to wait all this time for the Nexus, go check it out and then decide I'd rater have a Rezound.

PS - That guy in the review has the most annoying voice. Gah.

You should always form your own opinion, but the overall consensus from the countless reviews I've read/watched indicate that the Galaxy Nexus excretes digested food matter all over the R phones.

Well folks, I sure am getting punished for jumping ship to Rezound...

I had to order it on an alternate family plan line, because CostCo's online reseller wouldn't allow me to order it on my main line (which isn't eligible for an upgrade right now). So today, guess what? The device on that alternate line gets deactivated (despite their cust svc rep explicitly telling me there would be no problem) and my family member is now incommunicado.

Now VZW cust support insists they can do nothing to affect the pending order (and the assignment of the new Rezound's line) and that I must do the following when it arrives tomorrow:

  1. Activate the Rez on the alternate line w/the included SIM
  2. Get a new SIM from local VZW store and reactivate Rez on my line
  3. Have my currently unreachable family member get another SIM from their VZW store to reactivate their device

...which is kind of absurd. The VZW rep said she was surprised this was the first time she's encountered this type of alternate line switcharound hell and that she'd better get good at fixing it. Yeah, I agree!
