Eris to v2.x, when?

FWIW, HTC just announced three new phones, with Sense UI running 2.1. So it looks like the update for us *could* become a reality

Could that "reality" be a mass sent message to all Eris users inviting us to purchase one of those three new phones? Perhaps with a clickable link for a substantial discount?

:p etc..

FWIW, the update IS a reality... for the testers. Once they run through the test period it'll be rolled out to consumers.

HTC Droid Eris & Hero Getting Android 2.1 | Android Phone Fans

Now we play the waiting game...

*taps fingers together*

That article sounds like VZW will have the opportunity to spend time further tweaking (gimping) the update before they push it OTA. At least I'm sure we'll get full Goog Nav since they let the Droid have it. I wish they could just give us all the new features, and trust users to disable, for example, animated wallpapers if the battery drain is too great. Of course, trusting users is probably not a good business plan. A new crowd of Eris users bitching about terrible battery life after the update would be pretty much guaranteed.

Hoping Verizon doesn't strip down the upgrade too much for the Eris. Just want Google Nav--all the other eye-candy stuff doesn't matter to me. (Pinch for homescreens? Why not just swipe to the one you need?) Seems like battery drain is a big issue with the new OS so anyone hoping for improvements in that area will probably be disappointed.

Some of the updates for 2.1 over 1.5 are nice, though the biggest one that people are wanting seems to be the Google Nav... which is kinda funny

Google Nav is there, along with the new Leap feature. Not sure about animated wallpapers, but do you REALLY want them??? I'd take the performance/application upgrades over a little eye candy any day... ;)

looks NICE

the screen switcher is cool, but the soc net aggregator gets my interest a little more.

one thing i REALLY MISS about my BB Storm is the universal message box. if setup right i could get my emails (from all inboxes), sms, mms, fb updates, twitter updates, etc, all in one big box, so easy and neat.

See, that was one of the things I didn't like about BB. Messages got all jumbled together. I heard that in BB 5.0 you could filter the inbox a little at least.

Please don't tease us - let us know what rate plan you have and if it is a special discount. I would love that rate!

On Verizon?
Something is very, very sushi there.
Once in a while you hear about some guy who got cable TV and get's billed $1/month. Hard to complain about anything at that rate.

That was available in bb 4.x, just had to set the option in whatever app you were running NOT to add to the main Message box.

I'm still learning android but I would love to see this added, one icon for everything worked great on my personal phone.

Ahhhh, I learn that now that I don't have a BB

I'll see if there's a unified inbox (not counting on it though).
