***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I also wonder what the duration of the VZW exclusivity is.

Great question. They might not even care anymore as delaying the GN (for whatever the reason) is making some say "screw it" (albeit a minority) and they're going out and getting a new phone (R phones). Also, there is no carrier that can offer ICS and LTE atm. Why release it when they can milk us more? Then when the GN launches with them knowing what a hot commodity it has become they'll sell plenty either way you look at it. It's really a win win for VZ. I want to be wrong though.

hmmm. thx for the heads up, steve. i'm pretty sure that i'll ditch this rezound and go back to at&t if the nexus isn't released in the next two weeks.

I'm starting to regret not pulling the trigger on the 1 cent GS2 for AT&T last week from Amazon.

Other than the mythical Galaxy Nexus, VZW does not have a single phone I'm interested in. Certainly not either the RAZR or Rezound.

I loathe AT&T and swore I'd never switch to them...

This is how VZW makes me feel, I want/need my Nexus!!!

Verizon has finally released a PR statement indicating that the Galaxy Nexus will be out before this years end. This is "the announcement" Hans sis mentioned.

With the news finally directly from Verizon, why are so many determined to believe rumoured hearsay that it may not release this year?

Well I just took the Amazon penny deal and signed up for AT&T and have 2 Galaxy S2's on the way. Screw Verizon. Google and Samsung still get my money, but Verizon does not.

GS2 is arguably a better phone anyway, even after 6 months.

I wonder which idiot at Verizon woke up this morning and said the following? " Our FaceBook and Twitter accounts are being flooded with requests for the Galaxy Nexus! What should I do?!!?? I've got it! (Dials research and development) "Hello R&D? Call marketing and distribution and put us all on conference."

"Everybody present?" "Here" "Yes we are listening"

"It seems we are being hit from every angle with requests for the Galaxy Nexus. After great consideration I have come up with the best course of action to please our customers.....................

Delay the Nexus indefinitely and release ANOTHER MOTOROLA DROID RE HASHED PEICE OF GARBAGE!"

The call is ended by two deafening gun shots.... "Hello? hello? Where did they go?"

Hard to believe they would forgo the potential GNex sales this holiday season.. but if they have strong sales regardless then it makes sense... even if we hate them for it.

All they would do by waiting would be to shift numbers from one column to another.
Next 'year' may look better, this year would come in below expectations, as that would have already forecast it into this years goals.

They're publicly traded, aren't they? Maybe we should all buy stocks and have a say!!

I would be hard pressed to believe that they are so hard up, they don't anticipate coming out with any big sellers next holiday season.

What PR statement? The one from October?

I hate entertaining conspiracy theories, but did it ever occur to anyone that Verizon could have bought the exclusivity of the GN with the malicious intent to delay it as long as possible? Verizon's goal could have been to keep it away from competitors as well as their own network so they could continue selling bloated phones without any worries. If they delay long enough, they will basically have ruined the phone to the point that other manufacturers will have better phones out that Verizon can bloat to their hearts content.

At this point, my main thrust for waiting is for a 2nd generation LTE radio, which should hopefully be much more power efficient. If they push it to Jan/near CES, I'm waiting for a 2nd generation LTE phone, or I'm going to another carrier. I'd prefer not to ditch my unlimited data, but I'll do it if I need to.

I'm not sure how you can say it is better, but is surely a damn good phone.

Hmph. So... who wants to bet on the new release date being January 16th?

Thanks ahead of time for reading. I know nobody cares about a random noob's opinion, but misery loves company. Long time lurker of this thread. First time poster (and I'm really only posting because you guys say vzw read these, so I'm throwing it out there into the universe...).

Just wanted to add to the growing sentiment today: if this phone releases one second into 2012, I won't be getting it. I know it's silly to make a decision like this when it's really not all that far away (at this point). But, like dog years to human years, 2+ months of delays for a phone is a long time.

It's the principle of the thing. I'm not going to validate vzw's actions of pushing the date again and again with NO communication to its customers whatsoever. It's nauseating to think that if/when they do release it in 2012, they'll be leaning back in their chairs laughing heartily at the sales figures from this phone, as if they made the right moves all along. They don't deserve positive reinforcement for operating a business like this.

In the end, my two options will be this:

1) wait until the next great phone comes out, whatever it is (iPhone 5? GSIII?).

2) buying unlocked GNex.

It's selfish to leave a company because they don't have a device I want? So I should just take some crapware-ridden device VZW sales people push on me and be happy about it, eh? Choice is good, and if I can get a better device on a different carrier, I'll speak with my money, thanks.

You misunderstand what I'm saying, but it isn't worth arguing about. I get what you're saying, and that isn't what I am talking about.

To be fair, Hanette did not say next year. She said it was being discussed as an option.

To be fair, I have not ever bad mouthed anyone on this forum.
But every other day it is something different that has not paned out.
What if I told you that my aunt works for VZW corporate and she said that it would be released on 12/1, but she was not sure. Would you believe me?

If it isn't announced by Thursday then I don't see it being released on the 8th so I am out to the ReZound which I played with this morning (new girl in the office got hers last week). Music sounds crystal clear.

Although, I think in my mind I have already checked out. My body just keeps staying here and hitting F5 out of habit.

The PR was back on Oct. 21st.

It's pretty evident, that it's been delayed at least once so far. The reason though seems to be conflicting between bugs and politics.

Where are you getting the Penny Deal? It's saying 150 price for me still...

Verizon will lose another potential customer if they don't release it this year. I was willing to give up my unlimited data on AT&T for it, but I'm not going to reward their bottom line when that seems to be their only concern. Unfortunately it makes sense since all of the Verizon tweets are now saying "will be announced this year."

I'm willing to give up my unlimited data on VZW to switch to AT&T for a GS2.

My letter to Verizon Executives:

Good Afternoon _________,

I am writing to you today to express my disgust and dissatisfaction with the way your company is handling the release of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Back on October 21st, Verizon released a press statement with that promise that the Galaxy Nexus "will be available later this year in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online at www.verizonwireless.com." The current information I have from a trusted source is that Verizon Executives are considering pushing the release date of this phone back until Quarter 1 of next year in order to "maximize" profits.
If this rumor is true, this is an outrage. You specifically said that the Nexus would be released THIS year, not next. There are many patient customers out there that are waiting for the Nexus. They will not be buying a RAZR. They will not be buying a Rezound; or any devices listed on your "websales". In fact, I along with many others, are considering dropping our plans with you and going to another carrier who has phones such as the Samsung Galaxy SII, another phone which Verizon passed on.

It is incredible how Europe has this phone already, Canada's carriers are readying an early December release and one of Japan's carriers just announced a December 2nd release for their version of the Galaxy Nexus. Are you going to make us believe that the phone is "still in testing"; because no one on the internet buys that excuse.

Another mind boggling facet in this whole debacle is that fact that Verizon has remained mute on the whole thing. Many of the Customer Service representatives I have spoken to act like the Galaxy Nexus does not even exist. It is pathetic and a testament to the lack of communication and preparedness of the employees in your company.

To reiterate, if Verizon is really looking to "maximize" their sales, release this phone quickly. If Verizon fails to do this, I will cancel my plan and I am positive many others who have been holding their breathes for months will as well.

That letter will do nothing, nothing at all. They don't care one damn bit if you cancel your plan, as you're doing that thousands of more people are signing up at the same time.

And to think, I told my wife I would get the Nexus for her bday back on Nov 1st. Then I told her xmas, now it looks like that's not even going to happen.

Valentine's day.

Welcome to the insanity. We do love company whether we are miserable or manic.

I think it seems awfully fishy that the stores have been receiving/received accessories and then they change their mind about selling the device this year. I'm not buying that they'd go through all the time and money to ship all that to the stores, which have limited space, to sit on it when they could store them in their distribution centers/warehouses.

The last Samsung device they announced (Illusion) was available almost immediately. I'm in the mindset that any time in the next 8 or 9 days we could get an announcement of immediate availability from VZ. I sort of expect a PR on 12/7 to say just that...
