chesterharry needs to read this thread, because I read about the disabling of Google Wallet weeks ago. He says, "To me the NFC Google Wallet disabling is more than a small issue, and something I am surprised hadn't been revealed earlier. Most likely this is the root of the delay of this phones release."
There is no delay. Hans sister said that a while back. The delay is actually a charade. Now that we are past that...

Excerpt of my twitter conversation with @PydePypper this morning (for what it's worth)...

Me:
Morning all... Sadly, the #GalaxyNexus is rapidly becoming #vaporware... @VerizonWireless @VZWSupport @VZWnews

@PydePypper:
@PerCompLLC Nah.... just to much bad info went around which has people upset. Was never coming as soon as thought in the 1st place

Me:
@PydePypper @Tech_Addiction Yeah, I know that it was all rumors... But the real question is, will we see it by the end of the year?

@PydePypper:
@PerCompLLC @Tech_Addiction Unless disaster strikes YES you will for sure see it before Xmas

Me:
@PydePypper @Tech_Addiction You already have a test device, yes?

@PydePypper:
@PerCompLLC @Tech_Addiction I do in fact have a Nexus in my possession currently.

Me:
@PydePypper @Tech_Addiction I've followed you and @P3Droid 's tweets so I knew that you did. You have a VZW device, no?

@PydePypper:
@PerCompLLC @Tech_Addiction @P3Droid Yep mine is for VZW service. Left GSM services yrs ago and won't look back.

I believe a lot of this is true. The GNex wasn't coming as soon as we initially thought, and because of that we've worked ourselves up in a frenzy over rumors.

Verizon has only said this year, and it's still this year. I still believe it will come before Christmas, and hoping for the 8th.

The reason they would push back the GNex to boost Q1 numbers would only be if Verizon's December numbers are much better then expected, not worse.
This is true assuming Verizon doesn't advertise/market. The RAZR is being heavily marketed by VZ. Millions of $$$ lost on poor sales is my guess...This is true assuming Verizon doesn't advertise/market. The RAZR is being heavily marketed by VZ. Millions of $$$ lost on poor sales is my guess...

Which would just be another reason to launch the Nex. If a company's Q4 numbers are in the tank and you have a way that could help them, you don't wait on that, you boost those numbers as fast as you can.

I respectfully disagree. I do believe they meant to get this out before BF. I do really think that the 17th or 21st was originally planned, but somehow got pulled. The reason may not be known, but I think the ghost ads for $199 are evidence that it missed its first takeoff.

Just my opinion. Not saying yours is wrong.

Hmm. But if the reason for the delay is because the LTE version wasn't (isn't) ready, why the Japanese release date announcement? Isn't that a (non-us capable) LTE device, too?

Yeah gotta go with you on this.

The Galaxy Nexus was probably slated for a mid/late November release however bugs arose during testing which pushed back the release (new OS so not surprising). Everyone that's had the GNex so far said the OTA updates have been improvements. So I think Verizon is just doing what they do and we should see this phone soon (latest is Dec 15th imho).

So here is my hopefuleness meter for today:

Word from Big Red (of any kind): 4-5
Announcement Tomorrow: 6
Pre-Order Tomorrow: 6
December 8th Release: 8-9

Possibly. But ads and such can be made up months in advance. I do think at one time there were dates in Nov, but as issues cropped up, dates were pushed back.

Ads from places like Best Buy are sometimes even done with lots of speculation. For example, they couldn't even get the name of the phone right. If Best Buy was acting on any sort of official info from Verizon, they would have at least got the name correct. And for reference, the name was settled several weeks ago when Google/Samsung announced the phone. And even weeks later, Best Buy still had it screwed up. Just goes to show you that even the littlest details take time to flush out.

Unfortunately, this is just the start of the obsession...never rooted a phone before but want to do that asap on this one (freaking out about it though that I will do it wrong). May root the tablet (if the phone goes ok) but not sure if there is really a reason to yet.

I've never rooted my phones either. I think I'll start with this one.

I was going to play with it for a while before I rooted, but I'm thinking this is how it might go now:

Step 1: Open the Box
Step 2: Charge Nexus
Step 3: Root Nexus
Step 4: Remove MyVerizon & VZW Backup

So everyone believes 12/8 is the day. Don't kill me but I am believing the day will be 12/12.

Trust me I do not no anything.;)

Well many of us wanted to send Verizon a message that we wanted the GNEX and not their Motorola pumping.
If the Razr is really not selling then believe me: They hear you loud and clear.

Sometimes the only weak spot is the wallet......but it's a stinger!

Yeah, but where's the mention of the OMAP4 processor? Couldn't they find it? I want it confirmed that it's the 4460, not the 4430.
TI confirmed it's the 4430 in the RAZR, and 4460 in the GNex. Talked about similar "experience" between the two similarly clocked SoCs, but said the 4460 does have extra features.

I'm sure you can find it through a search. I'm not worried that the GNex has a 4460.

Unlocking the bootloader wipes the device so if you plan on rooting I would do that first before you do anything.
