I had the same question, but if you ask them to clarify, they'll let you know that they are in fact planning to release the phone this year.

Not that it matters what anyone from verizon says or tweets these days, but I'll bite.

Saying "scheduled to release" is the same as saying nothing at all. It's the same bs speak that politicians use. Like when someone says they have no current plans to run for president, then announce their candidacy two weeks later. Well, yeah, I guess what they originally said could have been true. Vanilla language that can't necessarily be contradicted. Saying "it will release this year" is much more of a commitment than merely "scheduled".

Probably because some reasonably intelligent VZW exec extracted his/her head from their posterior cavity and realized that this phone has the potential to be a blockbuster goldmine. There is no way that they could not have heard the uproar about the delays.

This is basically me, except I'm on a Mac, so I think rooting may be even tougher for me with the inability to run .exe files. XD I've been trying to read stuff but still haven't made much headway.

Rooted my Dinc on a Mac. Piece of cake. It has to be an intel Mac - that is the only caveat.

Just noticed something that is a bit of a downer. On Verizon's trade in page, my Thunderbolt just dropped in value from $93 last week to $32 this week...


Although maybe it's a sign they are releasing the beast soon and don't want to give back a lot of money to all of us TB owners.

Mine gets $93. Are you sure you did not put in a wrong answer for the "does it work" questions?

The key component of the Galaxy Nexus from a development perspective is that "unlocking" and "relocking" the device is as simple as running a couple of ADB commands. No vulnerabilities are being exploited because the device was intended to be open-source and developer friendly. Returning the device to stock should be a relatively painless exercise.

I'm not encouraging anyone to root or unlock until you have done your own individual research and are comfortable with the process. I'm just clarifying that this particular device is indeed a true open-source device and will be much easier to modify then the typical Android phone where the Android OS has been bastardized by the manufacturer (Motorola, HTC, Samsung, LG etc...).

I'm with ya. I really am. But everyone is different and has a different comfort level when tackling tech especially from the software side. I'm just stressing the importance of learning about it all. I know some won't or don't feel the need to. That's just me

I agree with you 100%. Anyone who roots or unlocks should definitely be comfortable with what they are doing. The only way to get there is to research the process. The best way to do that is read, read, ask questions, and then read some more. The best places to do that are in the "root" or "developer" sections of this forum and several others. The only bad question is the question that isn't asked... And believe me, if you have the question, it has been asked before - probably many times. If you can't find the answer by searching, then by all means ask.
