My favorite hoppy beers include a lot of late editions to the boil. I think it gives a nice hoppy taste but doesn't make the hop flavor to overwhelming. Given the prices of hops I know this is not always practical in retail.

Agreed! I dry hop my CDA and ESB, you cant beat the aroma you get. Folks here love their big beers though so have to try to please the customer base.....I am not VZW afterall

Oh come on...this thread lives for the disappointment! :D

Beer Talk!
I've been looking into starting home brewing, nothing major, just a batch at a time. I'm always on the hunt for a new craft brew, and wanted to give making my own a shot. Where's a good place to start? Mr. Beer seems to be big, but I see a lot of reviews trashing it. I'm assuming those are established brewers that do everything on their own. Is Mr. Beer a solid jumping off point to get the basics down, or is there a better route to go? Thanks!

I would stay away from Mr. Beer and instead take a trip to your local home brew store. They will set you up with everything you need for your first brew.

It could just something else for TBH, but if it is nexus related, then it seems he's reeling in his predictions for 12/15 or later.

OK, coming out of lurking mode again...

So I read your guys' convo a bunch of pages back. I'm curious as to why everyone who expressed an opinion said that a star wars virgin definitely has to start with episode 4. I'm not convinced that he/she should start with episode 1 or 4; I think it can go either way - sequence of release or chronological order.

It reminds me of the godfather trilogy. I've been told there is a version of the trilogy that is in chronological order but I haven't seen it. I would think GII has a totally different feel without the flashbacks to Vito's childhood.

Well, I guess opinions will vary, of course. But in my opinion, the Star Wars saga is less about the rebels vs. empire, Luke vs. Vader, Han and Leia, etc. It's really about the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker and how that character was resolved.

Staging the story in such a way that you see this evil incarnate-type person, and then showing you how he was once good and that he was never "all evil" or "all good", just makes for thrilling discovery. The tragedy scene in Episode III is the centerpiece of the entire saga, and it should be viewed as the climax.

But that's just my take. :p

Outside of the Nexus beer is the most appropriate thing to talk about. Beer and disappointment go hand in hand. Next topic is nuts then Star Wars. Bro Code

On the Star Wars question, I have to vote for starting with Episode IV. Why, you ask? Because you absolutely have to experience that opening sequence as your inauguration to the franchise (imo)!

I think it's also important to join in at Episode IV so you can see how things progress to the end. THEN watch the prequels, knowing full well that a total train wreck is coming but you don't know HOW.

Kind of like watching Titanic. You KNOW the ship sinks, but getting there was the whole movie.

My 0.02 :)

I think I will be staying up late to watch for a pre-order tonight with release on the 8th. I am usually pretty negative on here but these latest rumors have me hopeful for the first time in a while.

It would be interesting if they do pre-orders on 12/01 when that Google exec said it would come out in November. Seems like perfect timing to spite google. Maybe I'm just bitter.

If they do delay our precious until 2012 I will be on Sprint or AT&T.

If you don't have a LHB store nearby Northern Brewer is a great place. I have bought from them when I couldnt find it elsewhere. Reasonable price and cheap shipping. Start small, pay attention to details, and keep good notes and in no time you will be making great beer.

Does Verizon usually just pop up a pre-order at midnight with no announcement? Just wondering if it's been done before?

Here are a couple of other websites for brewing...

Brewmasters Warehouse <-----best prices for shipping I have found.

Homebrew Supplies for Making Beer - Rebel Brewer <-----local to me so I had to add them :D
