Thanks, yeah I had missed those options at the top of the screen :) That works quite well...and man this is going to be a huge difference in size going from dinc -> gnex. But I'll adjust ;)

Yea it's definitely going to be interesting.

I'm dying for a bigger screen though. If it's big enough I can just do all of my browsing with it instead of using a laptop or desktop when I'm on the couch.

yes it seems to support every color. Demonstrating Galaxy Nexus Multi-Colored LED - YouTube

I believe it is, but I don't have a specific source with the info I can point to off the top of my head.

That's awesome thanks for the youtube link! So I imagine there will be some apps/etc to use them and assign custom colors for various notifications.

So suppose you had it setup like:

- email: red
- mms: green
- sms: blue
- voicemail: yellow

What happens if I get an email, mms, sms and vm all within a few minutes? Does it just cycle through ever color? Or only flash the latest one to be triggered? Seems like it might be a battery drain (albeit not much, it's just a low power LED) if it was cycling through 4+ colors for various notifications, no?

I have a galaxy nexus running on T-mobile. Just got it yesterday. I know a lot of other people already have it too and have been answering questions, but if you have any questions, shoot away and I'll gladly answer.

:)

Dont say "shoot away" We have Han Solo here, ask Greedo what happened to him.

This is what I do on my OG Droid, green is email, blue sms, and red whatsapp. It'll be nice keeping this functionality on my "future phone."

i believe it cycles though if you look at the droid-life video it shows a color, then a different color

It is a big difference. The viewable screen real estate on the Nex is about the size of our entire phone. Can't wait

Not sure how the Gnex will work but on my Droid1 it would blink the most recent notification received. I added a purple alert for sms from 'special' people too so I knew which one was priority and I used red for low battery.

The videos I've seen it does indeed cycle through the colors according to which notifications you have. Battery drain on a momentary flash of an LED has got to be so low I can't imagine it even being noticeable

So does it cycle through all the flashes or just flash the last one?

I'm like 99% sure it only does the last one, which is fine for me, all I need it to do is let me know something is there, once I do, I turn the screen on and can see a bunch of stuff in the notification bar if it is indeed there.

Got some more good news friends.

A co-worker of mine is a former VZW employee with the corporate folks in product development (she continues to talk about it as if it was the best job she's ever had). I did a little massaging of the ego and asked her to get some intel on our favorite little guy here. After a few hours later this is the text I received:

She specifically clarified my request for a release date. In our current line of business, ECD means Estimated Completion Date. No word back whether that's in store or online... but nonetheless, sounds more n more like we're in for a fun ride next week.

some more logs...

i stopped by her desk today to badger her about the bogus release date. she was just as shocked and disappointed. anywho i asked her if her people have any insight to the dec 8th date. She forwarded me the response sent to her:

Not 100% sure, I don't think anyone in this place is. All speculation right now but my guess is in the next week and half it'll be out.

FWIW i think this only proves that there are a select few people that know when this is actually going to drop. i know apple has gone as far as putting iphones in boxes labeled as tomatoes from mexico to avoid speculation. companies do strange things to make sure product launches go the way they want.

i'm sure many of us will argue whether VZW even has a clue about what they're doing. but until vzw comes out and says it, i'm trying hard not to buy into rumors... i guess something like cynical optimism :D

When we all get our Galaxy Nexus someone here should try it out, have it rotate through every color with the screen off until the battery dies and then post the results. :p

Are the colors not mixed? I say it glows poop.

Seriously I don't know how the new OS handles it. I believe my Droid just displays the most recent.

Well, having multiple colors is kind of pointless if it only shows the last one received, you know? Unless you wake the phone up and clear the notification each time you see the flash (which again makes the multiple colors pointless since you'd be waking up the screen to check each one). I hope it cycles, and yeah I guess jbdan is right, it shouldn't be much of a power drain at all, relative to the CPU/radios/screen. :)

I've seen 2 videos (should have specified earlier reply) showing the Nex flashing 3 different colors cycling through them. Now I didn't see what or if the guy had any notifications, but assumed this to be several different notifications.

Yeah I suppose relatively, the quick flash of an LED is nowhere near as power consuming as the screen, radios, cpu, etc. So hopefully cycling is what it does :)
