On Steven's looks in the picture -
Glad to see you got to hold the new toy!

Sadly, you don't look how I thought you would. Honestly, whenever I read your posts I imagined you being the short green dude.

Now to just photocopy me in there holding the phone so I can catch a bit of the excitement as well...

I think you should. Steven is short and green and that's a total Photoshop of him anyway. :D

j/k Steven's as handsome as he is helpful. ;) :)
So - who was that guy?!?!? :D

And Japanese. ;) :)

Otherwise, totally agree - and after CES, January, comes Mobile World Conference, February in Barcelona with the things not shown at CES, and then... and then...
Forgot about the Japanese. In terms of tech it goes Korea>Japan>UK>Europe>US. Ive been following this tread since Symbian (look it up, the first modern smartphone OS) and thats usually the order it comes in.

I agree with EarlyMon

Whenever your phone display is on your always changing images. The only concern I would have is the 3 buttons leaving a static image when they disappear for full screen viewing.

Image retention and burn in are two different things, I get image retention on my plasma all the time but after the image changes for 15 min or so the image is clear again.

Also some mentioned the brightness level as being a bit low, the store will have some pretty bright lights going compared to when you get it home.

Meanie. :p

Holy crap! I go out for a friend's birthday and we break 60k!? w00t!! :) Really hoping for a release 12/8 or 12/8, though if it's after that I may wait and get it in Delaware when we're visiting back east for Christmas, and save myself $50 on tax ;)

Does anyone think the default homescreen setting for app icons being 4*4 on such a huge screen is weird? I mean, that's the same as my sister's HTC CHACHA/STATUS (480 x 320 pixels, 2.6 inch screen). I know you can use a launcher to change it, but stock is just too awesome.

Any solutions?

I don't, not with it's resolution. Like you say a 3rd party launcher like GO, ADW/ADWEX/LauncherPro etc... can take care of that for you.

Or, if you root, I'm sure there will be plenty'o'ROMS to choose from where you will have this choice.

Now that I think about it, ICS (well GB first with it's gray noti icons) has moved to colored status bar clock, signal, wifi, 3/4G. Also has the gray notification icons. So no white. Makes sense!

Thing is CES is for prototype devices, ie the next upcoming superphone Look how long the US had to wait on the Galaxy SII. I understand what you mean though, the States may be well ahead when in comes to actual carrier tech, but when devices come into play, Europe trounces all but the Koreans.

It wasn't always this way, though, was it?
I remember hearing stories from my friends in Finland, YEARS ago, about being able to pay for things in vending machines with their cell phones, and have it go right to their bill. They laughed at our phones, when they came to visit in 2001... Before phones got really smart, and when Nokia ruled the cell phone industry, I think Finland tended to lead with innovations.

I'm stoked for this phone, I'm coming from the Droid milestone....been holding out for over a year, was thinking bionic but when it was delayed I decided to wait for the nexus.

Went and ordered a case and screen cover while Christmas shopping online at Amazon tonight, never used such things in the past but I looked at my Droid and couldn't bare to think of the nexus ending up looking like that one day.

Talked to my son tonight about the ordering process, I'll be in surgery all week and Thursday is one of my busiest days so I was concerned. He said if it was available in retail stores Thursday morning then I could get up early....5am and order it for overnight delivery and have it on Friday.

I must admit this process has been challenging at times but well worth it, as I said I'm very stoked for the Nexus and I'm ready for the device to finally become reality.

Hey guys, sorry if this has already been posted. I haven't seen it though so here it goes.

Seeing the videos of the Nexus being displayed on TV through HDMI is awesome!! For me, the best was seeing the added functionality of being able to use the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard with such ease in interfacing with the phone. This made me wish that wireless HD streaming was mainstream and the phone/TV union would be complete. Well... after a little Googling, I found this bad boy. If this actually works as well as it seems, it's going to make the Nexus experience amazing when it comes out.

I think its important to note that it is not just cell phone technology that the U.S. lacks behind these days..

Early you're the best! Thanks so much for your encouragement. I know I can count on this awesome forum to help me out! It already has taught me so much..my son calls me a geek whenever I get excited about the GNex...he's going to be so jealous when he sees mine!!

WifelyMon is a fine artist and my polar opposite - total non-geek.

She took immediately to her Samsung Moment a few years back, plain vanilla Android (and I do mean _plain_) and then to her HTC Evo Shift with ease.

She needed help on where to set up her email, how to move things on her homescreen, how to make browser bookmarks, how to download her pictures to her Mac and what the Android Market was all about (read: where you get free apps that work great).

After that, she's been 100% good to go and WAY happy.

I think you'll find that any of the mysteries you'll have - we'll work with you and have as expert as you like for your needs in just about no time flat - and after that, all popular press to the contrary, you'll find Android is wickedly ease to use. ;) :)

I had my 80+ yr old mom using my Evo within about 10 minutes - first question she had - why did my sister have that hard-to-use iPhone?

Android - it's for everybuddy!
