Hasn't there been a couple of photos floating around showing the devices sitting on the shelves "in the back" right next to the other Samsung phones? Or was I dreaming?
 
I realize the post below is "like so 9 hours ago" but VZWAndroider gave a great review of his time with the NYC GNex. Since his review was posted in the middle of the night some of you might have missed it. I think it's worth going back to read. Thanks VZWAndroider!

1) Yep! That slight curve gives it a more natural look and feel and less bland and blocky like the SII. Back cover has a slightly more pronounced texture but good quality plastic.

2) Very white! Had a white t-shirt and pretty much matched it when I looked at Google.com on the browser. Hands down best display I have seen on a smartphone since the iPhone 4.

3) I did and I could not tell at all even if there was a tilt. I'm pretty sure the only thing "tilted" is the actual surface, all internals including the display itself is flat.

4) Not at all! Because of that high resolution you are able to fit a lot more on that screen than you think. And even that permanent Google search on the home screen didn't feel like wasted space. Besides, you can't use that space anyways if you remove it (it's been tested already).

5) Over 9000 ;)



Music app resembles a lot of the Google Music out that's out now but a few minor UI tweaks here and there.

TLDR: If you like the Google Music app you will like this one as well. :)



Yep. Same way as in all current Verizon 4G phones. Right in the settings under "Mobile Network".

I don't think all corporate stores are getting them on launch day... the one I called said they weren't getting any until January.
 
I've done some searching and can't seem to find an answer to this question:

Does any one know if the Apple-style headphones/mic combo will work with the Gnex? I have these Apple in-ear headset with mic . The mic didn't work on my Charge.

The beats headphones that came with the Rezound do however, but I haven't checked the Apple ones since the BG update I got the other day. Obviously, I know should be able to use the beats ones with the Gnex, but I don't like the positioning of the mic/controls being so far from my mouth. The voice quality of the test recording I did wasn't the best with the beats either, so I would like to use the Apple one (I think they supposedly worked on the OG, but I haven't gotten mine out to check lately).

Why can't they have a regional meeting and release a phone on the same day? The regional managers don't have to personally deliver each phone. Nor does the meeting, which Han's sister said was pretty standard, have to be about the SGN? I'm pretty sure the people at VZW have other things to talk about too.................

so they are planning to only release it to certain stores on launch day and isolate a large portion of their customer base? doubt it. is there any evidence they have ever launched a phone and made it only available to select stores on launch day because if their is, i cant find it

I have been getting grief for not making a Xmas list yet so naturally I am looking at GN accesories. Reference the Sena cases...do you think the Skyrocket case will work just fine...I know they will make one for the GN but I need to make a list.

Also, food for thought, love the Samsung car mount for the GN and thinking of putting that on my list too but in the field I work in I get a little paranoid about thefts from vehicles. Anyone else have hesitation of this thing attached to the windshield w/ 2 wires hanging off of it. Yes, leaving your GN in your car while you shop is like leaving an infant in the car so you brought it with but joe criminal just sees wires and a cradle. Just thinking out loud.

you could probably find some of the ones that were included with original nexus on ebay, im sure they would work

I think Han's point is that it is exactly that a theory. I've actually been studying the idea a bit and there have been tests on the idea. But the key here is the word infiniate: this means it cannot be tested or proven. The infinite monkeys theory is a thought experiment that cannot be duplicated in reality.


edit: this should have been prefaced by mentioning that I'm a philosophy minor with a speciality in technology.

Agreed....say doors to store open at 10am. I am sure opening employees start work say at 9 or 930. Quick meeting and then off to the floor plus the meeting wont be a surprise to them. God, imagine showing up to work w/ a bunch of geeks standing outside your door and you having no clue why. (shutter)

I thought about that, but since I already have the apple ones, I'd like to make use of them. I said my Bf can use them for the time being, but I'd like them back if I can use them ;)

Sadly - even with everything we have heard, I don't think the 15th or 16th is out of the realm of possibility. I am extremely hopeful for the 8th or 9th, but I am not putting all of my eggs in one basket yet :)

Like a pair of leather gloves, the case for my Dinc started out very snug but it loosened slightly as the leather broke in. I don't know the dimensions of the Skyrocket, but I wouldn't recommend cross phone case mojination if you want a good fit long term.

Not to start a firestorm, but yes, there has been many precidents if stock is limited. I don't know if that's going to be the case for the GNex. Samsung has had quite a while to manufacture these while the software issues were being worked out.

My own experience (and take that FWIW) has been that brick and mortar Verizon corporate stores will ALL be in for launches. Stock depends on previous sales performance. A store in NYC, for instance, will get a lot more phones than a store in Oklahoma.

However, mall and store kiosks (which are also corporate stores) might not be part of launch day events if stock is severely constrained. For example, kiosks didn't get any phones for the Droid X launch. Some kiosks didn't either for the Bionic release.

Keep dreaming. If VZW wants unlimited gone, it'll be gone...month to month certainly isn't going to save you. Only people on contracts will be safe for the time being because they won't want to give people a way out.
