I don't think we have anyone monitoring the ports, so I can definitely see them showing up in stores without any of us knowing ahead of time :p;):)

You mean to tell me with the 1,000s of 'sources' we have here, nobody can confirm they're in the States? Are you telling me we don't have reliable sources here? :D

i agree, but we have to remember its a big shipping season for the likes of UPS an fedex, and things are a little slower this time of year. if VZW was planning on a thursday release, they would be shipping out early to ensure all of their corporate stores receive them in time. so if we dont have photo proff they have been sent or recieved by tuesday, cross the 8th off the list

edit: obviously wednesday if meant for friday launch

My guess is VZW will ship whatever is cheapest to get it to you by/on release day. So depending on where it is shipping from may be 2 day priority or Fed Ex overnight. Once it leaves their hands they have no control over when you will get it. I have had surprises w/ cigars coming in 3 days from the east coast and one time I ordered some crab cakes from a well known place on the e coast and got them 2 weeks later. Thanks UPS for not being able to drive in snow in Seattle and I got spoiled crab cakes. Point here is there are many delivery options including overnight some folks may get lucky and get theirs a day early while others.....

Just stopped by the south Lakeland corporate store and asked about this week, without any hesitation who I assume is the store manager said the 9th without any hesitation. He told me to call back Wednesday to confirm and to make sure they are opening at 9 and not earlier.

Usually they offer free overnight shipping at least with new phone launches but I could see them shipping the cheapest unless you want to pay a little extra for overnight.

Phil(editor from androidcentral) had a screen shot he posted showing #ordered and said his source told him that a number of them have already been shipped to stores.

I hate to sound like Scrooge, but I honestly don't believe it. We've literally had 100s of this kind of 'source' before and none, not one have panned out.

Believe what you like, but I'm not setting myself up again. When it's here it's here and until then or until VZW makes an official announcement, not one single person knows (including all grandmothers, sisters, brothers, friends of friends who worked or work for VZW...you get what I'm saying). ;)

It is crazy, but this is the internet where craziness is the norm. People just seem to set logic aside and let their hopes dictate what 'makes sense' to them. These same people eat up all the rumors for release dates that have come & gone on a regular basis, and yet come back for more. They'd rather believe a rumor like "My grandmother's younger sister told me that her brother's nephew knows a guy's sister who once worked at VZW 8 years ago and he said she really thinks it will be out next week". I don't think I've ever seen more of this kind of stuff than with the GNex. It's really amazing to watch.

I think some just love to set themselves up for disappointment time after time after time. It's almost a kind of masochism.

That is the beauty of the forum. People have different opinions, perceptions, and "feelings" about the phone and what will/will not happen. I for one appreciate the vehicle the forum provides for us to share our differing opinions about this phone (and of course those off topic issues as well)

Your opinion of what others are feeling, setting themselves up for, etc.... is duly noted. Again - we arell here just to add our .02 cents, just as you are. Thank you for your contributions :)

Out of curiosity, what place did you order crab cakes from?

No there were no rumors of stock being shipped or in store. The "rumors" were just of a release date. If you can find another so called leak with photo proof of stock ordered I will retract my comment...

Their goal is to get it to you by/on release day. I would have to think logistically they don't want to do preorders day before that would be a nitemare so yes if release on Fri I see preorders Weds....fill what they can on Weds ship however they see fit (ease could be all overnight so hell maybe you get it on Thurs) and fill rest on Thurs and ship overnight. These are all guesses but I am sure we will hear from some folks day before store release bragging about the GN and how beautiful it is (fingers crossed. ME! ME! ME!)

You mean to tell me with the 1,000s of 'sources' we have here, nobody can confirm they're in the States? Are you telling me we don't have reliable sources here? :D

"Confirmation" is a subjective term. Confirmation to some would be a photograph of hundreds of GNex boxes in a room. Others would need that photo - in addition to a photo of the front of the building, the street signs at the closest intersection, etc... The only definitive confirmation would be a press release directly from Verizon, but that doesn't mean we can't all speculate, and that sources aren't correct with the information they currently have at that moment - things change.

Phil is one of the most trust-worthy sources when it comes to Android tech. He goes over things with a fine toothed comb. He doesn't post wildly for website hits, like Kellex does. He wouldn't post something on his forum or on his website if he didn't trust it. Case in point, when he posted the 11/21 date, 5 minutes later he took it down saying that things had already changed and Verizon was being fickle with the release date for some unknown reason. Also, he refused to post a lot of the initial Carrier IQ stuff because none of it was confirmed to be true at the time he got the initial tip.

That being said, if Phil says warehouses and/or corporate stores in California are starting to receive their shipments, I believe him. If multiple people are all hearing the 8th/9th, and the first public display of the phone went up yesterday in New York, I'd say the 8th/9th or even the 15th is looking pretty good at the moment.

I commend you for trying to talk people into being cautiously optimistic but you are asking folks to not do their "rain dance" in the middle of a drought. I don't think there is a fool here who thinks 100% this week....yes sounds like good possibility and we have all been waiting a long time. If it doesn't happen, well we have seen how this forum turns on a dime. ;)

Edit: Sorry this was meant more for Ken7....I quoted the wrong post.

A cautious approach I think is best. Those who are guaranteeing it will be out this week need to take a step back and realize they don't know that for sure. But there is a decent chance of that happening, but there is also a decent chance it won't happen until the week after, and perhaps after that. Just keep an open mind and you won't be disappointed again and again. One thing that is clear is we are closer than we ever have been.

Hey, what can I say, I hope both you and Phil are correct. But I'd be less than honest if I didn't tell you I have my doubts. I can't tell you how many times VZW has let me down. :(

thanks for stopping by that store for me lol....

i can make a thursday release but not friday :-(

Me likes your spirit TeeJ, me likes your spirit! :)

Again, my challenge to Phil's post is for guys to call their nearest VZW Corporate Store and see if they can get confirmation. It should be very easy to do if Phil is accurate. I don't see why Phil's store would have a lock on this.

Just sayin....

Edit: I just went back and looked at that link and that call that the guy claimed he got for a definite pick up of the GNex was not Phil, but a guy named 'dadsterflip'.

It's refreshing to see some logic here. I agree, I've never seen any proof whatsoever that these things are in stock anywhere in the U.S. at any warehouse. Yet many seem to think they'll magically appear in stores without a shred of evidence to support it.

As I've said before, people just love to set themselves up for one disappointment after another.

Do you need to see a picture of it every step of the way? On the boat from Asia? In the VZW warehouse? How about in the Fed Ex Truck to the store? In the store's backroom?

You know that just because you don't see a picture of it doesn't mean its not happening. Not every employee in the world is crazy about risking their job by taking pictures of something that they shouldn't.

It's different 'requiring proof' as opposed to believing every single rumor in this thread...none of which (as in ZERO) have panned out.

See the difference? ;)

How do stores get them when we have no indication they're even in the States???

What kind of proof are you looking for?

Eyewitness testimony from R. Kelly's grandma?

A note from Epstein's mother?

Hey, a fellow Paneristi! I've been collecting them since 1999, back when prices were a bit more reasonable. If you ever make it out to Beverly Hills, there is the official Panerai Boutique there. Chad, the manager, is a great guy, and they show you any pieces they have, including some very limited editions.

Now some watch porn of the my pannies:

I just have to take this time to say I hate being a poor college student. Although my preferences run much more classic than Panerai (think VC Patrimony or JLC UltraSlim), I can barely afford a Seiki. In fact, I have a Seiko 5. Great watch, but lacks the finesse of the higher end.

Now all of you have made me jealous. I am now aware that not only do I lack a Nexus, I lack a high end watch. Thanks a lot.:D
