I've never used handbrake before, but it seems pretty straightforward. Would I just upload my file and then set it to the settings described in the OP (on the official handbrake thread) once we figure out the optimal customizations?

Why can't I just transfer the movie to my sdcard on my phone? I mean what is the advantage to converting using the settings on handbrake first? I'm guessing it allows for less lag?

Are the suggested settings to be used for all videos? For example in the OP (in the original handbrake thread) it suggested for the picture width set to 720, but when I was converting a test video, the option was grayed out and set at 624? Why is this? Sorry for the easy questions guys like I said I'm new to this!

Edit: I know most use handbrake to convert and rip from a dvd, but if mine is already on my hard drive is there a point to me using this software if I want to transfer the video to my phone?

As harpua sez, smaller file size. I prefer all my "small" movies to be 500 or so mb in size and in mp4 type. They look great on my computer, phone and ipad2.

My dvd files before handbrake are 4+gb. Way too large. mp4 seems to give the best quality at the smaller size. Not to mention remove subtitles and reduce surround to nice stereo for earbuds.

same, the target device not the video is the determining factor

Trust me, when Verizon makes an official announcement no one will be able to keep up with what's going on in this thread, we'll all just be posting "OMG OMG OMG" ;)
 
I know I'm always the optimist and I firmly am hoping for/believing Dec. 8th is when we will have this beautiful device in our hands, but... just speculating...
What if Dec. 8th comes and goes with nary an official announcement?
We'll all be pretty darn upset :/

about droid incredible
you know whats funny. The Incredible was my first android phone and I bought it used. I didn't give a damn about the phone at the time cuz i was a winmo fan i seriously loved it and was in denial that it was going to die. Well as soon as wp7 was coming out and I hated the design I decided to try out a android phone. The Inc was like the only one that I actually liked so I bought it and I've never been happier with android.

The thing that got me to switch or to start my interest in android was running android on my TouchPro2. After running android on it for about 30 mins then going back to htc sense it was 3 clicks to reply to a sms compared to 2 and even though it was on my tp2 which was like 500mhz processor it was still faster than htc sense on the thing.

Thanks a ton! I posted on the other thread weeks ago and never got help. I post here and I got an answer immediately. Now to just sit back and wait for people to post what they find the optimal settings to be. Although it shouldn't be too different than other devices such as the gs2 if I understand correctly.

Ugh if it doesn't release by the end of the week I can't get it until the new year(I have finals the next week and then immediately leave on vacation)

Edit: I guess I could pick it up @ the airport(there's a vzw store in it)

My mom's name (account holder) is Tammy. I also find it hilarious that they lied about checking warehouse inventory. Obviously we know that's a lie because they sold the Rezound early and just any other day with any other phone they have to be able to see if its in stock to process an order.

Yep. I think all those CSR's who man the chat got slapped on the wrist for selling rezounds early and dont want to make the mistake of doing it a second time and potentially loosing jobs. She was obviously fishing for me to say the name, only for her to swat me down the moment I said it. Thats why I specifically refrained from doing so.
Funny that she couldn't tell me the phone wasn't available at this time, but instead blatently lied and said it was discontinued. She must be having it hard. :rolleyes:

I would think the numbers this week are going to sky rocket. We are going to have 2,000-3,000 posts just whenever the dang thing gets a release date. IF it hits Verizon's website for pre-order, probably another 1,000 before they will lock it.


I'm going straight to the OP every single day because there is no way I'll be able to keep up this week. I'll be at work and staying up late with you crazy people!!!

IMO, the issue of out-posting the Dinc thread is a joke. This thread is so much more off-topic and contains so many "filler" posts that its volume as regards any other thread is irrelevant. Not criticizing OT posts, I am criticizing the "filler." Quantity for quantity's sake has no value. It would be much more significant if this were to be known as the most helpful thread, or the friendliest thread, or the thread demonstrating the most interest in a compelling cellular product.
 
Well it's 12:30 AM and I have school at 8 AM... I should probably get some rest now, I've got a busy week ahead of me! (band concert, huge english essay due, a bunch of chemistry labs, and of course the GNex)
