***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Reborn58 your a good guy and a positive contributor, but i'm gonna play devils advocate here and mention when I went pre order a Rezound (before it was released) it took me 7 or 8 attempts to finally reach a rep that could see it in the system, I only kept trying because other members posted that they were able to get it, I didn't believe them at first because I had made so many attempts that were unsuccessful, but when I was finally able to place that order I felt the need to go and apologize to those I assumed were lying. True story

I think that is very true. I think getting the right rep has everything to do with it. I think it is in their system but some do not want to be bothered and continually called and harassed about any new updates. Plus some may just not care enough to even look in their system while they are on the phone. You are not buying something from them that moment, so you aren't their top priority.

As I'm putting my shoes on to go check the mail, my wife asks me where I'm going. "To go get the mail, my case should be here." She says "I just checked the mail, there were no packages".

At that point I was like:

But then I checked anyway...and sure enough it was there. The mail in there was from Saturday :)

So here's a few pics of the TPU (Diztronic now) matte black case, and a pic of it side by side my Dinc case. The size looks huge, but the case doesn't feel that bad in my pocket (*phew*).

As for the case, it seems nice, though I don't like that the matte is only on the inside/back of the case. The lip/ring around the front of the device is a glossier rubber material. I'd have preferred the look of matte and it makes for an annoying seam. But it definitely comes in/out of the pocket easily and feels like it has decent enough grip to avoid slides.

Now if I could just get the phone to put in it.....

I have both of those same cases, sitting side by side on my desk right now. The DInc one still has a phone in it though.

Well, that doesn't quite make sense - now does it? Some people say it's in the system, but most say it isn't? You think there is a massive cover-up of Corporate telling Verizon employees to deny the existence of the phone in their system? Why would they put a release date in the system then? And why wouldn't other CSR or sales reps be able to see it?

Or do you think it is more likely that a few sales people are trying to lock down sales for a possible release on the 8th / 9th for their commission?

it has been explained that there are different types of stores...therefore potentially different answers...

also, someone mentioned that the system may not make it easy to discern what is going on and that there may be different systems

all i know is that i called my local corporate store and he said end of the week based on the system, not hearsay, and that others have made promises such as midnight availability or something similar

i guess all these people may be lying to get me and others in the store, but when i and others get there and there is no phone, that's not exactly going to help them make a sale is it?

there is and has not been any solid info on this phone other than before the end of the year, if we left it at verizon's communication there would be nothing in this thread

because we've been dealing with similar situations for almost two months now. and yea i dont think vzw is going to release this on 2 days notice

But not near the leaks 2 months ago were out that are out now. You have been going by nothing more than leaked "map pricing sheets and random dates that anyone with word could have made. Not to mention the reps weren't saying that it was in their system and would be out on so and so a date. But you don't have to believe anything and if it does not come thur/fri then oh well life goes on. I just don't think verizon is going to put much behind this like some think.

You would slice my head off if you knew what I was saying f it to right now lol..procrastination is a beautiful, beautiful thing.
Scott, for the sake of your grades and your future, close your browser and get back to your homework. Sorry...it's the mom in me coming out. :D

To scottg96

There's that word, "imminent" :P
DANG I need to stay on task with my homework :/

Well, I'm a geometry teacher, and you need to hook up and get your homework done, but if you need help with geometry, I'm here to help....but if your into tech like this, I'm betting you don't need help with geometry, or your already taking algebra 2!!!! :D:D:D

On a related note, at my local Target, the iPhone and iPad displays were immaculate. Here's what their tablet and netbook area looks like. Those carts full of store stuff have been there for over two weeks.

Why do today that which can be tomorrow!

Or why put off until tomorrow what can be done the day after!:D That's my motto.

I have a thermodynamics final tomorrow and a complete nightmare of a take home final in one of my IE classes but look where I am..... I am 36 so I should know better.....

I don't agree. The top selling android phone this season in the world has been the Samsung Galaxy S2 which has been named as phone of the year by a few companies.

Initially Verizon was going to have one of these phones but they ended up not getting it. (Charge doesn't count). This is an important phone for Verizon that fills that gap and makes Verizon a leader among the Samsung handsets. This is really the only GAP in the Verizon lineup.

Verizon will be playing this phone against all the Galaxy S2 models and will use it to keep customers that might have otherwise left for this top selling android model.

Why leave VZW for the Galaxy S2 when you could stay for the Galaxy Nexus?

I don't disagree with you. As for calling any phone the phone of the year is hind sight. This phone does fill a gap among Samsung handsets.

I have before me right now three ads from Verizon. All the phones that are advertized are Motorola phones except the Rezound, Rhyme and the Pantech Breakout. Motorola has TOP billing PERIOD.

That being said, I will get a Galaxy Nexus. I just don't think the rollout is going to be a big deal for Verizon.

Any chance you want to take my Discrete Math Structures and Algorithms exam? ;)

Slice your head off? What kind of monster do you think I am?
You've been watching too much Dexter. ;)

I hate to remind you all but this thread closes once one of us gets our greedy sweaty hands on it. :(

That is when we all meet in the lounge to catch up on

1) Han's love/hate relationship with Verizon

2) BBs date/non-date situation

3) Namrak's campaign for modship

4) The Roosevelt's Hitler GNex release video

:D

EDIT: I blew by 500 posts and didn't even notice. SENIOR BABY!!!!

Before I leave, I have a question about something that's been bugging me with the Google Music app + Voice Actions:

When I say "listen to X" it prompts me to choose which app I want to use. Ok, I choose Google Music and make it the default. But all it does is do a search for the query and I have to manually select it. I thought I remembered seeing a demo where it automatically started playing whatever matched the query. Can someone confirm if this works in ICS? Would be super helpful and more Siri-like :)

I cannot speak for ICS. But my intuition says it will still function the same. I actually brought this very point up to the devs at Pannous who have one of the better Siri-like voice actions on the market. I've been in constant contact with them for about two months (since my Droid began giving me severe problems, I have not been able to troubleshoot much for them the last several weeks). (edit: correction, going through my emails its been about three months now. My goodness!) They basically said they would love for that feature to work, and that they'd try and implement it, but that right now the OS does not allow it. I'm with ya though my good man, that would be one killer feature if it worked.

edit: The strange thing is that (correct me if it no longer works this way, because I have not used Pandora in over a year) if you try the same voice action with Pandora it launches straight into that playback stream.

I'd like to take a moment as we get close to opening to ask what music you will be listening to in your car/house when you open the box for the first time. It is near...

I will be listening to the Tron Soundtrack.
