loving the new leaks! for the life of me, i can't understand what the people who keep calling "fake" on everything are doing in here though. if the only thing you'll believe is an official press release from verizon, why bother reading through 1200+ pages of pure speculation? starting to remind me of the dave chappelle skit describing what it would take for him to convict r. kelly, lol.

It's an underlying need to be "the other party". Those people feel like we do, but are uncomfortable expressing it. This is life and my own opinion of course

Can someone PLEASE add the following link to the OP with a title saying if you can see this the phone is in the preorder system?

Except not all devices go in that.......

guys, I found the php script for phone selector on the Verizon website is hardcoded with the list of phones currently in the website (instead of quarrying somewhere)
so once again here is another good location to check for updates
http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/scripts/phone_selector.php

again I think that the preorder site at https://preorder.verizonwireless.com/iconic/

well be the first system it pops up in

Thanks for the link. Looks like I am going to be buying it 'In Store'... my employee discount doesnt apply to pre-orders.... What kinda crap is that

Ah, zedster; our resident Verizon "hacker" extraordinaire ;)
Thanks for the really clever find!

OK people, oldies, college kids, and college oldies... I'm off to bed. Someone PM me if the pre-order goes live at midnight.

(high school kids should be in bed already *cough* Scott *cough*... it's a school night :) )

I can operate on 7 hours of sleep, especially if it's for the Nexus ;)

Alert for any Nexians here who also pre-ordered the Transfromer Prime from J&R:
Good evening, gang. I just wanted to let you know that, if you pre-ordered from J&R (jr.com) double-check your current pre-order item number! Let me explain:

I had, upon seeing Amazon sell out on day 1, ordered the 64GB Grey Prime from J&R whose model number was TF201B1/GY. Naturally, the item shows as backordered. This order was placed on the 24th. Upon browsing the site today, I was curious as to whether J&R had stopped taking pre-orders, so did a search by item number for the Prime. Inexplicably, the TF201B1/GY model number what was associated with the 64GB version now specifically pulls up the 32GB model! Doing a general search for TF201 showed that the 64GB grey model was now TF201C/1GY, the B having changed to a C. When I phoned J&R (with whom I've done business for many years and am pleased with their support), they looked it up and told me that they had to make an alteration to my preorder to update it with the new correct item number. I wanted to pass this info along as soon as I could so that noone is in danger of receiving the wrong version of what they wanted due to this snafu. Also know that it will take likely overnight for the online system to update the record when you login to check your order status, so don't panic if it appears unchanged after you speak to a rep. Give it a day to refresh. Thanks, all! I've no idea what day the model numbers changed after the 24th, so this may not affect preorders placed after a certain date. Here are the current updated item numbers:

64GB grey: ASU TF201C1/GY
32GB grey: ASU TF201B1/GY
64GB champagne: ASU TF201C1/CH
32GB champagne: ASU TF201B1/CH

That aside, it feels good to likely be in the home stretch for the GNex! :D

So anyone have any idea what a 12/8 in-store soft launch means for us folk that have to order online? Is it possible to be only in-store at launch and not online? Has that ever happened?

HA. Any job can be stressful. I do land development (subdivisions, commercial sites, industrial, a couple of roads, etc. - it's evolved a lot over the years)

From 2003-2007, it was stressful because I was working 50+ hour weeks and falling behind on things. Couldn't keep up, everything was so fast paced, that there was no time to breathe... of course, it was fun too and the company was making a lot of money, so, they were rewarding us with decent bonuses, crazy parties, and just a great environment.

2007-2008, Got my PE, whole new stress of being "responsible" for my designs, started kind of managing some people and became "responsible" for their work too

2008-present, survived 7 rounds of layoffs, all of my friends have moved on for one reason or another, still busy because there are less people, no one to manage, so, I do everything from entry-level work to budget/resource management on projects, meetings, proposals, more meetings, answering for budget over-runs, etc.

A lot of it really depends on your career path. If you want to move up and grow out of engineering (pure management type positions), I think the stress will always be there. If you want to be a technical expert that continues to design even as you get 15-20+ years under your belt, it's probably not as bad. There will be project/deadline type stress, PE stress, but, once you are an "expert" and aren't asked to do the management stuff, it should be less stressful to focus on projects.

Keep an eye on the SWFWMD and FDOT District 1, both in Bartow. I think Kimley-Horn also has an office in Bartow. I'd assume that there is quite a bit in Lakeland? Probably more in Bartow too, a lot of transportation firms like to set up shop near the FDOT.

- I completely agree with you, it's very nice to see my projects come to life. I have a couple of projects in Haines City, working on one in Lake Alfred now, and I have a couple more in the Davenport area

I am glad to hear you have survived layoffs, that is always a scary situation.

We live in South Lakeland so Bartow would be a great location for me, I will have to look into the places you mentioned. I am feeling overwhelmed and a little nervous when thinking about getting a job. I really don't know what my goals are at this point and I just feel totally unprepared, which I guess is normal. I did an internship at Publix and did not enjoy it at all so that is not helping my anxiety.

My husband works in the power industry (not an engineer) and the pay is good so I may look in that direction too. I think with the new USF Poly campus that job opportunities in this area will grow.

Wait I just remembered that the VZW store in town is an authorized retailer, not a corporate store. Will I still be able to waltz in and pick up a GNex on Thurs.? Or will I have to go about 10 minutes away to get it :P
