true, I think he's just like us all, getting caught up at this hopefully being the end of this crazy arsh roller coaster, but I can see how it might be misleading to the person following the thread, but doesn't have time to read all the posts, to read the title and think that something has been said by officially by Verizon, but then be very disappointed when they find out there was no official PR announcement.

However, IMHO and trying to be positive, I think Verizon is purposely not putting out a big announcement because they don't have enough stock to support a full fledged launch and add campaign. So their doing a "soft launch" at corp stores to satisfy all the die hards who would get it on the first day. Then when they have enough stock, get it out to non corp stores next week, and still getting it to them in time for an adequate xmas campaign.

I bought four Incredibles on release and the 2 years is up on the 29th of this month. All of the call was very pleasant and I never asked pressing questions about a relaase date of the Gnex, just told them I wanted the ability to walk in the store (or through telesales if absolutely necesary) on the 8th and pick up only one GNex. I was told by Randy CSR Rep that for a 4G phone and the Iphone there is no way in the system he can upgrade early. He can request a M2 (manager override), but he could not do it himself. He asked if I would like to speak to a supervisor who are the only ones whom can approve requesdted M2's. I said this would be great.

I spoke to supervisor James (after quite a delay) and he said that he nor any supervisor has the authority or ability to move up an upgrade date for an Iphone or 4G phone. Verizon has changed the system and this could not be done. He was aware of my interest in the GNex and wanting to upgrade as soon as it came out, but stated he does not have the authority or ability to do this.He was also aware that I have had 4 lines with them for over 10 years and my bills, which never once have been late, run just under $300 per month with data on all lines.

To end the call with James I stated that I was part of a larger forum specifically about the Galaxy Nexus phone and would post this if I heard it correct. He repeated his response about no early upgrade for 4G phones. So I took from the that the long and short of this is I will not be getting a new phone prior to Christams as an upgrade.

So sad.


By the way I nwas offered to move all four line upgrade dates to today if I wanted 3G phones.

Call a different *611. Several of us on here have done that and have had it bumped up or notes put on our account that it can be bumped up when the GNex comes out. That's the nature of the beast of Verizon. If you don't like the answer given, call, call, call again until you get the one that will give you what you want.

Eventually, you can get to a retention specialist and they will do most any reasonable thing to keep your business.

I wanted to add to this, because I'm one of the ones with a note on my account. The CSR I talked to DID mention that you could not override your date for a iPhone, but he said that was currently the ONLY phone like that. he couldn't guarantee GN wouldn't be like that but it couldn't see why it would.

That said the thing about 4G phones IS bull, the CSR would have and offered to override the date for either the RAZR or Razound right then if I wanted.
 
For what it's worth, both of the local corporate stores that I called asking if they have a demo unit yet stated that that they would have the phone on Friday (12-09) "after it launches".

Isn't the Loyalty Discount the new name for the NE2? I've got a $50 upgrade discount on my account that I'm pretty sure is my last NE2, but it is called a Loyalty Discount on my online account.

Hey All...
...been lurking here for information since October. I didn't plan to join, but then realized that I need to become a part of the community so I can keep up with all of the ways that you use your phone and possibilities! Unfortunately, by lurking, I feel like I know you all and it's been fun reading...a lot of good humor here :) Anyway, I've been through most of the posts on here since I found this thread and have been up and down with you all. I have Thursday off of work and am still optimistic about the 8th (obviously my dog learns faster than me!) I have an OG and my wife has the Eris...we have been waiting since 7/5 for the Bionic, which had it's own rollercoaster ride...only to end with the cars coming off of the track into a pile of rubble. Luckily, I got off in time and focused on this phone. So...6 months isn't too long of a wait (ugh!)

One last comment...TheRoosevelt's Hitler vid was hilarious!!! (We don't even get T-Mobile here!) haha!

Han...don't give up on the Nexus! You owe it to Hanette!! How could you put her through all of that only to pass on it when finally released!?!? :)

yea for real. im outta here for awhile. dont need my optimism to be smacked around by angry members. im just as anxious as u all. didnt know asking a question about the date would cause a ruckus. some people were nice enough to explain and others decided to make me look dumb. later everyone. hope some news comes in soon. so we can stop arguing.

what the hec is the difference between ne2 adn customer loyalty? I thought they were the same? I've been waiting to use my NE2 since May

Here is my take ($.02)

I brought up earlier stock may be a concern on launch and still think they are a little light on numbers and that coincides w/ the lack of information or an official PR. VZW is getting tons of positive buzz (sans Wallet WSJ article and I will come back to that). Knowing they have enough for first wave of buyers why spend millions on advertising something that they cannot meet the demand on. The people that want this phone first are folks like us and they probably have enough to go around right now. I feel the launch will be low key for the time being and they will satisfy us forum dwellers and when they get more and more shipments in advertising will be through the roof....no way they are going to play down this phone for long.

As for the wallet....in that PR I read it as "we didn't put it on but if you want to you can". I am sure we will find out about security with Google Wallet soon enough though.

No, don't leave. this afternoon should be full of stories about stores getting shipments. You're gonna miss the fun.
 
I live in the Worcester, MA area and called all my Verizon stores. They know nothing and say "they received nothing". I hope they are just playing the game and not telling me. But there goes my hope for an early Thursday one. Crap !!!!
 
Just called my local VZW store. Spoke with a Steve.

I asked him straight up when its coming out. He said "sometime this month". I told him about all the rumors etc, but eh.

Though he did say "yeah we've heard that too, but if you want give us a call back on Friday and we can let you know".

You would think this phone is a CIA tracking device of sorts being how tight lipped they are about it.

I think you are right actually.

I already have a $50 ne2 coming up so I might have missed that they merged the 2.

I might just give it one polite/calm call and see if anything happens but I doubt I'll get both.

The customer service guy on the phone said to me "I can get an upgrade approved almost 100% of the time up to 6 months in advance, anything past that and it's up to the managers"
