***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Hey when will we get to 70,000 post? Can someone do a final graph and give to Steven to show the growth of this thread when it is all said and done? It would be interesting to see the spikes of posts when new leaked info popped up and the growth of this thread from a baby to full blown Android adult!

From my understanding you can plug in a thumbdrive on your Roku and it will read any compatible file types correct?

I do not believe it will work the same with the GNEX since as you know it cannot be mounted as Mass Storage. This is only a guess on my part but I could attempt it on my PS3 and Xoom tonight..

If the Roku supports DLNA/UPnP, then you could stream from the nexus to the roku via software, as an alternative to the usb connection.

I'm sure someone will eventually release a hacked kernel that will emulate UMS for a partition, but who knows how long that'll take.

Alright, I guess this needs to be stated once again.

While we all may joke around a bit in this thread Rick Rolling or posting fake information is not funny. Anyone that has been here for any period of time knows the emotional roller coaster that this thread has been for the past few months. It shows a complete lack of respect for your fellow members to post false information. If nobody remembers, a bunch of users had to be banned just yesterday for this. The only thing these posts bring is more work for Steven58, EarlyMon, myself and our fellow mods.

On a similar note, it is not appropriate to discuss infractions you may have received in this thread. That is between you and the staff and does not need to be discussed here.

Thank you

It should if it is actually micro-usb. mini-usb was common when the OG droid came out, though, so double check.

The OG Droid is indeed Micro USB. This cable (Micro) will also work with the Galaxy Nexus.

Amen.

I really can't stand the way they butchered the notification pull down either.

Amen to that, too! Had the HD RAZR been released here already, I likely wouldn't have touched the Rezound in the first place unless the screen was still inferior in quality. The Rezound is still a great phone, but nothing's perfect. No matter what comes out in the future, that'll be my last HTC phone with buttons that ill-designed. The Nexus buttons are svelte, yet appear easily accessible.

haha. stores getting stock, and one district is rumored to get ~ 2.66 phones per store. haha. nice.

can't wait to get this phone so i can gth out of here.

I'm a non account owner member on a VZW family plan. I have the account owner's verbal permission to purchase the Galaxy Nexus when it comes out and am eligible for a discount with a 2yr contract renewal. Anyone know what I'll need in order to walk into a Corp store on Friday and get a GNex (assuming its available)? I'm assuming there's some way to do this without the account owner present (maybe have the last 4 of his social)?

Thanks!

I had to call my local VZW, tell them I was adding my grandson onto the account/ able to do stuff to his phone without me......they needed my password, my last 4.....and the permission.

In preparation for what will hopefully be Friday, can anybody tell me how I can easily transfer over my free apps from my D2 to my shiny new Nexus without the use of a program requiring root?

They need to sign in to verizonwireless.com and add you to the list of account managers.

They will also need to setup an account password/pin that is a maximum of 5 digits long, which they should tell you. This should be different from their login password to verizonwireless.com

Edit: Damn, BB is quick today

BB has yet to do any work today. Lol.

So, just checked into my hotel in Raleigh (of course I'm out of state for the launch - I told you the day I travelled would be the day big news came out. http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...-confirmed-finally-news-1240.html#post3584283 You're welcome) and discovered that it is in the middle of a shopping center WITH A VERIZON STORE. I feel like I must at least try to get them to show me the Nexus, knowing that stock is (should) be in store. I just wanna touch it...

Haha 4 is nothing, me and my GF have a 20+ run kennel at home, we always have at least 30 dogs on Site at any given time.
We board dogs for local rescues, it's alot of work.

Off Topic
Very cool! I volunteer with a great rescue in DC. The need never ends, but it is amazing work! :)

Thanks for the tip. I love Cryptonomicon and Snowcrash (but could not get through any of the Baroque Cycle).

I have only read Anathem, it was slow at first but I ended up really enjoying it. Wonder if I would like the ones you mentioned?

Everything is stored on your market account. It will be there. You will need to use astro or another similar file manager to get backups from programs that support back ups and then load them onto the Nexus.

As long as you're signed into your Google account, upon registering your Nexus, they should all automatically download. Wasn't an issue with my Bionic (from Droid). Though all my root apps didn't work as normal

Called the Verizon rep that hooked me up with the Rezound last thursday. He said he has a small shipment already in the back and has no official date of when to start selling. He is hearing the 8th but it could also be the 9th. He said he cant reserve this small quanity and says I should be in good shape to arrive one of those mornings and pick one up. He said its not like an iphone launch.

He will email when he hears something official.

You will have to be put on the account as an account manager. That's the only way without the actual account owner there.

Not entirely true. I've been in similar situations and they just called the primary to get permission. Of course they may have only done that because the two agents I deal with have been family friends for 20+ years. Worth calling your store to find out what they'll require.

Interesting news here in the ATL. I just received a call from _____ my guy at my #2 corp store saying they received their shipment and are in the back. They are not allowed to sell them till they get official word from corporate (no news there). I'm on his list 2nd in line. I asked when I could expect to hear back from him and he said "possibly later tonight but at least by Thur". Interesting guess we'll see.

As I wrote this post my guy from my #3 corp store called and said they have shipment as well and is waiting for the official word to let them fly out the doors.

Oh, interesting. When I went from my D1 to my D2, all my paid apps were on my market account, but the free ones weren't. Is this something they've changed since then?
