Hi All,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I had to get in on this thread before it closed! Anyway, I'm rocking a three year old Blackberry Storm (pitiful I know, and I work in IT no less) so Friday can not come soon enough!!!

Any suggestions for a cheap case till more come out later? I did see the one a few pages back on amazon... Any other suggestions out there?

Is it Friday yet?!
 
So i called around this afternoon, one store i asked about it. Said yes we have them but not sure if we can sell yet.(I got very excited) Was put on hold then immediately changed her story to no we dont have any not even a Demo. Out of 6 stores I called that was the closest info Ive gotten.

Whats the difference between a soft release on Thurs( is that like no public info given) and launch on Fri when Joe public whos not in the know can go pick it up ?

I've gotten the same very friendly, though not forthcoming, lady in Henrietta. Bbut the guy at Pittsford followed the same personality, very stand-offish and acted like he couldn't wait to get off the phone with me.

You might be right. Only one store so far made me believe they had no idea. The rest may be just towing the company line (which I understand, though it bugs me).

Verizon could really help out by announcing it so the stores can say something and I can get on with my life.

With having to take care of the kids and get them to school, I'm not going to have time to either wait in a line, or will get to a store late. Let's hope inventory isn't really constrained. :(

I told my rep I won't be able to make it to the store till 2:45 and he said there should be plenty for me. :D

Watch out that you don't break the thing when you get it after three years of pushing the screen down for all its worth!

I've gone back and fourth about this issue. I had a case on my Dinc since day one and recently took it off because I don't really care what happens between now and whenever I get the Gnex.

What a huge difference! I should have taken it off long ago. I also had a screen protector for around 3-4 months in the beginning and then took it off. Sooooo much better without it. The two tiny hairline scratches to the screen (totally not noticeable when the screen is on) since then have totally been worth the screen being bare. Got those scratches when my phone took some pretty bad falls onto the pavement.

I am also really excited for the car dock and it doesn't look like you can have a case and put it in there.

Bottom line is that I'm keeping this phone for probably 18-24 months. I should be able to keep in decent condition without protection. Also plan on at least 12 months of insurance so anything serious will just be replaced.

Just my opinion. I'd like to see what others think.

Yeah I'm hoping it will be able to handle 720p MKV for TV shows and such. I would much rather watch some things on my phone from bed than stay downstairs and watch it on the DVR...time will tell on this I guess.

Who doesn't have a tv in their bedroom? Oh my. I would never be able to fall asleep without one.

Tons of people getting confirmation from their stores and some even getting appointments to pick theirs up on the 9th. There were a bunch of other screen shots/leaks on droid life, etc, too.

The 9th is happening, but many of the stores don't seem to have a clue about it, unfortunately. Hopefully that changes tomorrow.
 
OK, I'm going to take Steven58's invitation to join in on the fun. I haven't been lurking as long as most people. I have only been reading this forum since early November.

I was give the iphone 4s as a birthday present but returned it when I heard I wasn't going to be able to get the double data plan, because it was a 3G phone. So paying the same price for slower speed and less data felt like I was getting shafted.

I'm still rocking a Motorola Krave ZN4 so this will be my first smartphone.:D

I can't wait for the release and I'm even getting my girlfriend one so we can droid beam each other. *in pun intended*

I called the corporate office in Forest Hills, Queens, NY and they said it would be available "shortly". They did not let me sign up for anything. Did any one have any luck for any locations in Queens, NY?

Stores receiving stock and people getting confirmed appointments for Friday pick up
 
So I went into my local corporate store and asked a rep about any news regarding the nexus. He said that was eagerly awaiting the device, but they didn't have a release date, but if he was a betting man, he would put his money on Thursday (I'm in the Friday release camp, myself.)

However, when I asked about screen protecters and cases, he said that they had some cases in the back. He asked if I would be interested in them, but I already received my tpu case from Amazon, so I didn't want him to have to open the box for nothing. Has anyone been able to purchase cases and screen protecters from Verizon? Would it be against their policies to sell accessories for a phone that hasn't been released?

ok ok, i register. i returned my bionic today and have a flip phone for now... friday better not disappoint me!
 
Called the Clarksville, Tennessee store and asked the guy if they were allowed to admit the Nexus was coming out this Friday. He said, "Ummm...yeah, we don't know anything yet." I then asked if Friday's hours would be typical 9am - 9pm and he said, "Yeah, since we don't know if anything is coming out or not, they'll be normal hours." Kinda seemed like he wanted to tell me something but couldn't/wouldn't.
 
I see alot of East Coast love. Anyone have any luck verifying with a Southern Cali store? I'm sure it will be Friday, but wondering if Socal stores district managers are stricter or something.
