Professional lurker here answering Steven's final plea. Been here in the shadows since before Hong Kong.

Just wanted to thank all of you for making the last 2 months a little more bearable! Hopefully I can participate in the fun a little more once I finally get my hands on this thing.

Sums it up quite nicely.

Not sure about that post in the thread you linked, but it does have hardware support for H.264 decoding. MX player may not be fully optimized for ICS and OMAP yet. Not worrying about it yet.

Hey, here is what I did to get confirmation. The first time I called tonight, no one answered, and it patched me through to telesales. I hung up, not interested in that. But next time I called when I got someone, I told them I had called earlier and got through to telesales, and they had told me the phone was releasing on Friday, and I could set up an appt to buy it by calling the store back. He said, sure I can do that for you, and I was good to go.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm in Wilmette. Ill be headed to the Northbrook store on Friday morning with my younger brother
 
Early Upgrade Customers!

So I'm trying to get a Nexus on Friday with an early upgrade, has anyone else been successful in trying to get this arranged with the store manager so it's already ready to go on your account?

My upgrade is on January 28th so it's not too far.

I had two stores turn me down and say they can't do it for the Nexus but could for any other phone, and the other store the manager took my name and number and said "If it comes out on Friday, we could probably do that" so who knows what that means.
 
Stopped at the Folsom, CA store on my way home. There was no one in there, just 6-7 employees. I asked about the nexus and the first person just shook her head, but then a guy I'd asked a few weeks ago said to her "no, it's official. It's in the system."

I was about to ask about preorders and he just said to come at opening Friday and something about Droid releases not being that bad (e.g. no need to wait list).
