***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Bad news guys,
I heard from an inside source that Verizon is having too much fun screwing with us and wants to delay the phone again so they are canceling Friday.

No, I don't mean just the launch - since the cat is already out of the bag they are going to have to cancel the actual day of the week.

This week's Friday is going to be renamed Thursday2 and then we will go direct to Saturday. The calendar date will be renumbered to 12/8.5/2011. When asked about the launch they will respond "We were going to release the Galaxy Nexus on 12/9 but that day no longer exists. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

I'm skeptical of this thursday2 business. pretty sure it'll be called pre-saturday this week.

Ordered my case and screen protector. Shall be here Thursday thanks to Amazon Prime!

Now hopefully one of the Verizon's around here has sufficient stock :)

How about: "I'm going to just go to another store or buy it online. You work on commission right?"

But that would either require me to bluff or actually order online or to another store, which again runs the possibility of getting into the same situation.

I'm gonna try and muscle my way out of an activation fee, but I just wish Amazon got the phone this week too.....

OG Droid users unite! :D

OG since day one here.... I was gonna jump on the bionic but they waited so long to release it I read about the vigor and was like well i've waited this long i'll wait a few more weeks. Then it happened............ I came across a bit of news about something called the "nexus prime" and well here we are................:D:D:D

Im buying this on a upgrade, I have a normal sim card.. They shouldnt need to activate it at all.. I should be able to be the only hands on my Nexi on friday :) right?

I couldn't resist your psychic abilities to pull me into this thread. I kept telling myself I wouldn't get sucked in. I feel like an addict and this thread is my crack.

Anyway, one more "I called my local Verizon Corp store..."
In Oakland - I asked the girl if they were going to have the Nexus available for sale on Firday, she said "yes".
Then she put the phone down and starting talking to her manager and came back and said " we will have it, but we do not have an official release date, so we may not be able to sell it..."

Kinda useless I know, but I believe we will get our hands on it on Friday.

I cannot wait, my OG droid just plain sucks.

What's the best argument to get your activation fee waived?

I originally paid for it when I brought my OWN phone to VZW and retroactively had it credited on my bill because I work for CSX or because I was month to month, the girl couldn't really tell me but she credited me on a month's bill.

I really don't want to pay $35 for something I can do myself.

A monkey could process an activation.... But that could offend. I didnt think they still charged those anyway... It's been years.

Some people have done studies to show the first charge or two can be important.
LiIon batteries and charging circuitry has come a long way. I haven't seen any reliable studies that suggests the consumer has to do anything.

However, it does help to charge full, and let the phone tell you when to connect to the charger for the first few times. It doesn't have much to do with the battery, per se, but the phones internal recognition of the battery, so it accurately reports the battery's status.

No worries, there's always a way to reset the battery statistics to start the process over again if need be. And should always do this if you get an extended battery.

Alright, what are those of you saying to get your upgrade date moved up? I just tried 611 and he wouldn't budge, just spewed the line about how early upgrades are determined by device popularity (see iPhone) and that nothing could be done til a) the phone is released and b) 7 days before upgrade date.

What's the trick?

I got my annual upgrade moved up a couple of weeks by emailing customer service and explaining my situation, telling them that my old phone (OG Droid) was acting up and that I wanted to purchase the Nexus. A customer service rep called me the next day and gave me her direct line, saying that when the Nexus is released and I'm ready to buy it, call her on that line and she'll move my upgrade to that day. I'm planning on calling her first thing Friday morning.

I've heard from a lot of other people that asking via email tends to be more successful than *611 or going into a store. Just remember to be very, very polite. Hope you're able to get it moved.

I'm double secret hiding this.
There's plenty of personal female electronic devices out there, and the interaction isn't bad either.

Yeah, I kind of figured someone would point that out. I didn't get the vagueness and ambiguity of my statement when I posted. :D I more or less meant with a phone. An electronic device wasn't good verbiage. :)

Megatron! Welcome to the record-shattering fun-ness! :D

Anybody notice that we've passed 1.5 million views? While we've far surpassed the epic Incredible thread in posts (47,904 vs 65,807 and counting, 37% more ) we've got a ways to go until 2,872,041 views.

So how many more posts will there be in the (hopefully) last 2.5 days? For reference, in the last 24 hours there have been just over 2800 posts. So maybe 73000 total or even higher? If you really delve into that 2800, if you average 5 seconds reading per post, that is nearly 4 hours of reading (more depending on the number of BabyBlues multiquote posts). Also means that Han with his 2934 posts is personally responsible for wasting 4 hours of each one of our lives (kidding).

Someone brought this up earlier, but the Incredible thread had 24.70 posts per hour on average. As of right now we are at 26.83 posts per hour! And I can only see that going higher given the recent flurry.

I wonder what that post count over time graph looks like now.

Time to go enjoy an ice cream sandwich in preparation for my Ice Cream Sandwich.
