I've been (over)thinking this whole "no info in western NY" thing. I wonder if our stores share the same district manager who threatened his/her stores to say nothing. I wonder if anyone from Syracuse or Utica is experiencing the same blackout.

I also wonder what the capitol of Guyana is but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Wow, lucky you, a 2 week vacation!

Sleep - well, it's about 5 hours a night so it's not that little. Lol. I keep saying I'm just staying up till midnight and then BOOM! it's 1 in the morning (or later) and i'm telling myself to put the phone down and sleep. You guys/gals help keep me going when I get exhausted. It's like legalized crack. :D

Ah, another WNYer! I never thought of this, but I considered calling some Rochester stores last night after all the Buffalo ones disappointed me. I'm assuming you've had no luck as well? I wouldn't doubt there is only one district manager for Buffalo/Rochester but would assume the Syracuse/Albany region would be separate. My parents actually live out by Saratoga and have a "guy" at verizon, I should see if they could ask him...

Any Syracusians or Albanians (wait, thats not right.. Albanites?) have any luck?
 
I'm totally torn between doing an overnight ship for Monday delivery or trying my luck at hitting corporate stores on Saturday afternoon in Asheville/Waynesville.

Don't want to wait until Monday but I don't want to have no luck at the stores and have to wait until Tuesday after not ordering online on Friday.

Decisions, decisions....

Atrain is by Saratoga. Not sure what kinda luck he had so far, cant remember.

I so badly want to take the trip north to Albany, Bountiful Bread is there and they make the best bread and a spinach roll that is sinful.
And farther north is Oscar's Smoked Meats. MEAT!! 'nuff said

They have a QC process, if the phone doesn't pass for some reason then it doesn't go. I would suspect that there was a big flurry of new tests done after the EU release volume bug. That could be a show stopper. I would also guess that they wanted to make sure they didn't have a repeat of the Bionic 4g radio switching fiasco. This is the first implementation of 4g on that particular handset.

Lets get real here, how many of us really need the phone on xx date? not like it's going to change your life.

Yes and no, I don't think that was their strategy, it's too hard to quantify and marketing materials are probably ordered and paid for long before this perceived delay was encountered. OTOH the number of positive articles you read in somewhat mainstream publications is surprising. In retrospect I wonder if Big Red has some sort of marketing agreement with Moto where they won't promote certain handsets for a specified period of time post release of an exclusive. They didn't really hammer us with Rezound stuff either, that was kinda quiet.

That could explain why they passed on the S2 as well. If you're a big corp guy calling the shots and you had the Gnex and the Razr come by your desk the Razr would appear to be the smart business decision - thinnest smartphone ever by a very reputable manufacturer with whom you have a solid history.

Does anyone recommend a great screen protector that you cannot tell is even there. I don't want to ruin the screen's image nor do I want smudges all over it.

Dude, there are three of us calling stores here and we got nothing beyond mild rudeness. One guy was supposed to call me back but never did. He's on the top of my list to politely bug today.

PS. What's the proper term for someone living in Buffalo? Buffaloians?
 
Luckily the past two days have been extremely busy at work so I haven't had much time to read/check thread and rumors.

Unfortunately today probably won't be.

Makes the day pass so slowly!

Who knows maybe we get an early Christmas present of a "Super official" release date.

I only called three of the eight corporate stores. I did not bother with the resellers because they're all shitheads.

Verizon Store on 72nd & Dodge: "I don't have any information, but I'd say Friday is a pretty safe bet."

Verizon Store on 148th & Maple: "We'll have them on Friday!"

Verizon Store at Oakview: "No idea. I've never heard of that phone. You're the third person to ask me that today."
 
I think screen protectors are very overrated, if you ask me. Unless your hands are made of stone, just simply take care of it. :) I've have my Droid X for 18 months in the nude w/ no screen protector. There are ZERO chips on the screen.

I would recommend calling some local stores Friday afternoon to see how their inventory is holding up.

Anyone been able to get Verizon to move up their upgrade date? My upgrade date is December 28th and so far every CSR has told me to pound salt. This didn't use to be the case but I guess they changed their policy huh?
 
I do need the phone! My fascinate died and the replacement vz sent was not working...so I am on a barely working of Droid...I need my nexus! ! Sorry about any typos, this keyboard is not working!!

I LOVE OSCARS SMOKED MEATS. I grew up not too far away. My mom used to take me when I was a kid and it was always awesome! I'm gonna have to make a trip there when I go home for xmas!

That's a known bug! Go into the manage applications, keyboard, wipe data and then force stop. That's what the tech (with the rooted phone so I believed he had a clue) said to do
