I'm still sticking with no PR at all. Again, we cannot understand this as consumers - especially smartphone consumers. But on what DAY does Chevy release the newest car? OK, maybe that can happen - but my guess is that the new models just start showing up to the dealers.

Again, Samsung's latest promotion is #STOPWAITING. They are poking fun at Apple and in fact, all of us who pine for the newest thing. WHAT IF it just started showing up and the carrier said nothing? We expect a press release and all this fanfare because that's what everyone has always done with a product launch. But, if you want people to be able to walk into a store and simply buy a phone without waiting, you simply do not create the mass buzz about it.

We create the buzz, we walk in and buy it, and then we show it to our non-forum-lurking friends and they think that they need to buy it.

It's really quite genius. My guess is that the PR would start after the first of the year, after Moto sales have hit target and when Samsung can start to get the masses interested in the Nexus - that props up the Samsung 1Q12 sales numbers.

It will be like ordering the "special pizza" at the hippie pizza shop - you know its there, and your friends all want to try it, but they don't promote it.

Pure speculation on my part, but I'm really starting to like the idea of the non-promoted promotion. Welcome to the internet age, folks.

Relax....my gosh, I didn't take your post that way, If I took it wrong way, sorry, but I'm just getting real tired of people jumping all over other people just trying to help and give information. This is one of my pet peeves, After re-reading your post I may have took it the wrong way, I'll admit that, but I'd say telling me to "Get a Grip" is a little harsh as well....agreed
 
Hopefully the fuel for this new rumor is just the equipment guide change and hopefully that change was just made because Verizon hasn't officially announced the date yet.

I'm still hold out some hope for the 9th.
 
Was just in a corporate store. Got the word that the launch on the 9th is not happening. They had just received an email this morning about it. He could not, or would not, give me a new date.
 
Alright, I just stepped away for a couple minutes and took a walk, much calmer now. I'm still believing we'll get something this week, even if it doesn't get released on the 9th, but too many "sources" have reported getting them in or ordering them or whatever this week that if it is delayed it can't be for long. If all the rumors and tweets about it getting pushed back are solely because the tech document says coming soon now instead of Dec 9th then that doesn't change a thing, someone probably saw all the articles online about it and requested it be changed since Verizon hasn't made an official announcement yet. So hopefully in < 2 days we'll all have a Galaxy Nexus...

Thanks for hanging in there when I lost it guys and girls, man has Verizon and this phone taken me for a loop.

I would say send them an email but they would never see it. I'm not sure what the best avenue to voice displeasure is that might actually reach the people who have some measure of power to affect it.

The problem is, what are you going to tell them your upset about? A Phone they said they would release by the end of the year, that seemingly will release by the end of the year?

"Lack of communication" about a device that is the same as their communication on essentially every non-Droid named device?
 
Besides Kellex's "rumor" (FYI - he's been wrong many times before) and the date change on the leaked screenshot (which we don't know is accurate or the latest or even the same access)... what is all of the hubbub about??? Are you guys getting calls canceling your appointments? Are shipments being sent back to the warehouse?

I think that it would be very imporable for this to not release on Friday (or within very few days after). Relax... if like the Bionic, the PR won't come out until tomorrow.
 
All this nonsense is comical, and I doubt anyone wants to hear another I called so and so and they said. But, yesterday I got a call from a sales rep at my local Verizon store and they set me up with an appointment to get one at 9am on Friday. I called back this morning and I was told they are still launching on Friday and nothing has changed. I asked if they received shipment also, and he said they had but couldn't give me numbers....anywho, thought I'd share. I know we are all growing sick of this ridiculous launch.
 
Well my sister still hasn't gotten back to me. I wonder what she's doing?

Good point. I forgot about that one. I was mainly thinking about how the RAZR was handled... a big verizon/moto keynote, release date announced at the keynote, no delays, and heavy promotion. The gnex has been publicly available in much of the rest of the world for nearly a month now, and we don't even know when its coming out.

We literally know nothing, except that it will come out "by the end of the year", and even that is a bit tenuous with VZWSupport adjusting its language to state that they will ANNOUNCE the availability by the end of the year.

Verizon has really botched this one.
 
I have an appointment tomorrow morning (supposedly) to get my GN. I hope I'm not disappointed and they tell me to come back on Friday. I will probably call to confirm....but also considering just showing up...they may have sympathy for me and let me get it early! (or not) :)
 
Everyone STAY calm...there's still plenty of evidence to support a release this week. ONE screen changed from a specific date to an ambiguous reference to "soon". What we all need to focus on is the fact that there are soooo many stores with the units in inventory already. The release is GOING to happen. Let's not unravel now while we're at the doorstep of the most EPIC release ever (to-date)! Stay strong my Nexians.

I actually got a call confirming my Friday pickup. Well a voice mail I was zzzzzzz. I called back, left VM and am waiting to hear back from him.
