Welcome, and thanks for the info! I do believe the 15th was a guess by your store, the manager I talked to said that he hadn't got a new date yet. Only that he thought it would be soon since the phones are in the store, but again, that is a guess on his part.
Thanks for the welcome. The info I got was from my local privately owned VZ store (corporate store had no details). She said she didn't currently have any in her office, but she just read something that it was pushed back to the 15th. I'm still hoping for tomorrow or Friday, but I agree it could be just a guess on her part.

Seriously guys, all that hate with Verizon delaying a phone that was "never" given an official launch date is getting over the top. It's obvious that this phone is having major bug issues on Verizon network thus the "delayed announcement" of a release date. It has nothing to do with trying to generate more RAZR or Rezound sales, but rather to make sure a new OS (ICS) works with their network. We already heard about two issues (Volume and now possible USB) if Big Red released this phone on 11/17 with all those glaring issues everyone would be mad when the Apple fanboys come online and make fun of your flagship bug filled device.

Just be patience and let the process work itself out.

Issues? Do you work for verizon? Doubtful so don't try and act like you have any clue what you are talking about. If they were having so many bugs then why was there only 2 updates for the verizon nexus to testers? If there were so many bugs they would have more and the testers would admit to bugs, which wait for it.... They said the phones are ready and no bugs. Just because you read 2 articles which the usb thing can be replicated on plenty of devices it has to do with usb and not device. smh

Of course, there is one other option. Corporate execs are pissed that their thunder was stolen by whoever authorized CSRs to tell customers the 9th. They put out a stop order, to make everyone think it is delayed, but will re-instate it AFTER the press release goes out, whenever it was originally planned to.

(Optimism hat firmly on, however pretty petty on the execs part if true).

No way this is true. Releasing a phone is a big deal, it's complicated considering all the logistics, advertising, support, etc. that has to happen. They wouldn't do this just to "prove a point" or trick us. If it's delayed, there is probably a real concrete reason.

The LTE issues make the most sense, Verizon wouldn't have shipped the phones to all their stores and authorized retailers if they didn't believe it was ready. So a delay at this point has to be from something else, which in this case is most likely the LTE problems they're experiencing. Hopefully they can get everything fixed up today so they can announce it tomorrow and release it Friday. So here's to hoping it's a quick/simple fix!! :)

Now that's the attitude ;) good to see !

Han, I promise you, I am telling the truth. The email to stores cancelling launch is real. That is all anyone knows. Any of the scenarios I and others have thrown out in the past hour could be true. All we can do is wait and see.

That's the problem, everyone is sick and tired of waiting to see what VZW is going to do. Not hating on your post and I agree, but VZW is really really killing themselves on this phone launch.

I'm assuming there's at least a few people here that have 4G/LTE phones right? Can you confirm or deny the LTE problems in your area? Could engadget/droid-life/phandroid/someone start a poll to see how many people might be affected so we can get an idea of how widespread the issue is?

That's exactly the point.....VZW is incapable of giving/announcing an official release date and meeting that goal, they have to wait two days before the phone's release in order to support their statement. This wouldn't matter as much if Samsung/Google didn't have their little shabang in October.

That certainly wouldn't fly at my work, yeah boss, I will get you that write-up as soon as I'm done fixing all the bugs. Should be anytime now.....

Yesterday, it was the Rezound being all crappy because of the bad LTE radio.

Verizon had a large-scale service problem within the last 36 hours.

It had zero to do with phone models.

When phones reported reliably to work suddenly fail based on region - it's the carrier.

at some point last night, i was kicked off 4g (here in NYC) on my Rezound, and havent been able to get back on since (i've done the usual, switching around power settings, restarting, etc).

IF it is LTE issues, how much longer do you think it could be? and I thought the LTE issues were only for the RAZR...

I've had no data connection basically since my drive home yesterday evening. I can reboot or put it in airplane mode to get data back...for about 30 seconds max. This is a Droid Charge. It's definitely more network related. Thought I saw on the Verizon forums that an update was pushed to the towers that hosed things bad. Maybe there's nothing wrong with the GN, but they don't want to release a 4G phone when the 4G service isn't working properly.

That guy is such a hard on. Why would anyone ever let him test their product? If he can rub people the wrong way in 140 characters, I can't imagine how grating he must be in person.

Possibly, although I wouldn't be surprised if he's a reasonable guy. Relative anonymity tends to breed unpleasant attitudes.

I'm just as sad as the rest of you. But we really can't get upset. Big Red didn't tell is themselves so it wasn't truly official. It sucks big ones but we've made it this far together, another couple days isn't going to kill us.

Originally posted in other thread, thought it was this one.

1. I stopped anticipating the launch dates given from "sources" as no official word has been given from Verizon.

2. I am not surprised that a rumored date is delayed.

3. Can't blame Verizon for a delay when no release from Verizon to the public has been given.

I do very much apreciate all the information Phandroid and others (i.e. Steven) pass on to us about any Nexus news :)

I am wanting this phone as much as any of you. I am checking Pulse all day every 20 or 30 minutes for any updated news. Everytime my email "Droid" sound goes off on my phone I think "I hope this is an announcement from one of three email subscriptions I signed up for (Verizon sign up page, Google sign up page, and Samsung sign up page) informing me of launch date and pre order info".

The first "delay" from Verizon, probably to do with the volume bug. This one might have something to do with the other statment on this forum about overheating due to new hardware (not sure if I buy this, don't care), who knows, wont change the fact of a "delay".

My point about Verizon "delaying" is that perhaps they want to ensure that us, their customers, have a near as posible flawless (with the device, not the launch) experience with the Nexus. I can't blame a for profit business taking precautions to ensure that what they sale does not leave buyers remorse and a potentional of returns and a loss in profits. They will have new customers coming from other carriers, I am sure they want to give their existing customers and their new customers the highest quality of customer service as posible. I doubt the CEO and powers-to-be are sitting in an ivory tower gloating at how much fun it is to pee on our parade.

This is my next phone. I have been holding out for months for something with these specs, there is nothing else I want that Verizon has. My rooted Incredible, with ICS theme CM7 :D, is fantastic and will serve me well until I own my Nexus.

Yes, I know it sucks to not have this phone, no word from Verizon, and frequent delays. I wish you all the best from now until our Nexus day. And when that day comes (someone else said they are doing this at their place of employeement) I am buying a few boxes of ice cream sandwiches and giving to my employees and customers to help me celebrate!

Raleigh, NC 4G issues since Tues AM that are continuing.

Just finished a live chat with Handtec, they were so polite. I could have the phone by Friday and be done with the waiting. Having already had a taste of the Nexus for about 24 hours I should be the least anxious among us, but I think it's made it worse.

Ha ha. So I went online to do my daily chat with an online Verizon CSR and the chat option just isn't coming up. It usually appears after a few minutes on a product page but not today. I bet they took it down due to people like me bombarding them with questions about the Gnex.

Verizon just needs to come out and say something. I can't imagine the countless hours spent by their employees fielding us lunatics.

I say give us a definite date with some safe buffer room for bugs and if it comes out early then great. That could be the soft launch. Kind of like how some phones pushed out updates but those in the know could manually check and pull the update early.

I always assumed I'd get this by 12/31/11 11:59PM and not a minute earlier.

what?
USA Carrier - Voice Frequencies (MHz) - 3G - 4G
AT&T - 850 / 1900 - 850 / 1900 - 700
Metro PCS - 1900/ AWS - 1900/ AWS - AWS
Sprint 1900 - 1900 - 2500 -
T-Mobile - 1900 - AWS - AWS
Verizon - 850 / 1900 - 850/ 1900 - 700

a higher band has less penetration (think buildings) but higher transfer rate.

I don't know where you are getting your info from but LTE operates in the 700 mhz range and yes you are correct higher spectrum less penetration but more data.

Yeah, I do believe you.

Yeah I tend to agree. Like I said, just searching for a scenario that keeps the 9th as a possibility there, with my optimism hat on.

"My point about Verizon "delaying" is that perhaps they want to ensure that us, their customers, have a near as posible flawless (with the device, not the launch) experience with the Nexus. "

Perhaps is the key word. I really don't know for sure, but I highly doubt overall the Verizon version is going to be less buggy than the version you can get now.

If they can't modify a phone to work on their network in a timely manner without huge issues, than again, that falls on Verizon.
