Verizon Galaxy Nexus Delayed Past December 9th, You Don’t Say…. | The Droid Guy
We took a lot of flack yesterday for not running reports that the Verizon Galaxy Nexus would be available on Friday December 9th. Part of that was because we were vetting the very suspect looking pdf posted at Rootz Wiki, the other reason is because we had information to the contrary.

Our information is from one of our Google ninjas who reported to us last week that the final binary for the Google Nexus 4G LTE on Verizon Wireless wasn’t getting along with 4G LTE. We then started seeing the stories about Google Wallet.

While Google Wallet seems to be a dead issue, another one of our Google ninjas pointed out the fact that a lone Google spokesperson was the source for the Google Wallet story. While on the surface that looks good and kosher, behind the scenes it looks like a move that may have been thought up by Google to push Verizon into getting Google Wallet back in the Galaxy Nexus.

Went to Verizon and it was same. bout 50% of the 4g capable devices were on 4g the other half were stuck on 3g.

This is in Maryland. Strong 4g.

Found out a guy 3 offices down from me has a Stratosphere going strong on 4G. Me? No data. About two hours ago on the other side of the building, I had 3G for a minute or two, then 4G, then nothing again. Most of the time I look down and see 4-5 bars with NO data symbol at all (1X, 3G, or 4G). :( I'm starting to get the shakes. ;)

I have just an much "insight" about this phone being released as you do, hence we're on the same forum. Ok, no problem if you don't want to believe they're were in bug in ICS, then what version are we at right now? ICS 4.01 / 4.02, 4.03? Why so many ICS updates when ICS was just announced in Oct and is only currently available on GNEX? My point exactly.

BTW testers are paid to test their device internally before it releases and not tell people in tech forums of any possible bugs, you will never know what issues the phone had before software fixes were implemented before it's released to the public. ..I completely understand your frustrations with this phone release as am I, but why get upset over something you have no control over?

It is what it is.. the phone will get released when Verizon feels it's meet all it's testing and is fully functional for the public. No pressure from a tech blog / forum will make them release it any earlier.

or because of the lack of information that has been thrown our way since the announcement of the phone. It's interesting how every other carrier for the Gnex worldwide, has in one way or another, given their customers some sort of information. I feel like a fool following a phone in this way when ive never even held it or seen it in action.

WTH?! Can someone catch me up? Last night, it was a LOCK for the 9th. Even my local VZW store finally said it was officially in their system for the 9th release. Why are we now thinking it won't be until next week or later!?!?

Been having problems with 4G on my bionic since late last night here in College Station, TX
3G has been on/off as well. I can make/receive calls but data connection is spotty.

Strange thing, my Samsung 4G mifi is not having any issues. solid 4G connection, and good speeds and it's sitting right next to my phone.

One thing I've noticed about smartphone releases in general is that customer services reps are usually among the last to know and their information is pretty unreliable, collectively.

Judging by the posts today, if T-Mobile is so much worse than Verizon, they must be really, really bad. :)

I guess I may just wait a little while and see what happens. The cost difference is rather large.

Galaxy Nexus on Verizon:
450minutes+1000 texts+ 4gb data=39.99+10+30+taxes=about $90, times 24 months=
$2,160+$299 for the phone is a total of $2,459

Galaxy Nexus unlocked on T-Mobile=
$30 per month times 24 months+$730 for the phone = $1,450

Is Verizon $1000 better than T-Mobile?

(Not that it is worth anything, but I really do feel bad for all of you, I am not even their target audience and I was excited about this phone, but with the delays and lack of information I can see how frustrating this is.):(

Honestly, unless you live in a fairly large city and never travel, yes Verizon is that much better. Speaking from experience for the record.

As someone who has been on AT&T for years I can tell you there is a reason they are continually getting last on the Consumer Reports rankings. I get a ton of dropped calls and regularly show service but unable to connect to the network to start a call or open a webpage.

This whole Nexus thing sure is frustrating and making me dislike Verizon before I ever have their service, however I have no doubt that life on their network is going to be much more enjoyable than anything on AT&T.

Bionic on 4G here in Charlotte, NC. No issues with 4G at all been going strong all morning long for me!

Verizon sent out notification to all their stores that the 9th is no longer the date. Nobody knows for sure why yet.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't technically need a new phone, since Verizon sent me a Dinc2. So I can be a bit more open with my requirements.

rep: Well Verizon has postponed the nexus launch with no ETA.

me: crap...was afraid of that...so it is for sure????

rep: For sure postponed. :(

me: ok...do you guys actually have stock now???

rep: Yup

me: cool, it sounds like they just need to get an OTA update their satisfied with, huh.

rep: more than likely.

What bites even more is that if this doesn't happen, it seems to me, I would have had the phone in my hands just after midnight tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^&%&#%$#**&**^^ :(

You may have misinterpreted my posts yesterday. It wasn't negativity. It was reality. I wasn't dismissing all the leaks as false. I simply don't believe anything until the phone is in my hand. Even after Verizon announces a date, they could easily delay it if there are issues.

I have not gotten my hopes up since the beginning of November and I'm still not.
 
Just thinking to myself, What if verizon sent out an email saying it won't be the 9th to throw people off? I mean if it is true that they are just going to throw it out there what if they say here we know we have some moles in the company so we will issue this email to get all the blogs buzzing and get even more free press? Wouldn't surprise me for vzw to do this.

Give them a call and confirm. See if they're showing a delay maybe some stores are just getting it later than others or some are just clueless and haven't checked. Some people have just reported that they are still on for the 9th though.
