He says:

  • The LTE hiccup isn't the reason for any delay.
  • As of right now, there is no delay because there's no official date. The Dec. 9 that started popping up on the inventory screens shouldn't have been there because there's been no official date announcement. So it's no longer there.
  • Friday is still possible. And you know what? That's not crazy since we know they're in stores. We know accessories are in stores.

Sounds good, but how does that explain emails sent to Verizon stores saying it's been delayed?
 
I was in a corporate store this morning around 11 in Charlotte NC. I spoke to a salesman and they have not stock but they do have a demo in. He didn't know when they were going to get stock but he said they usually don't get it in until the day before release. So who knows whats going on. Something serious had to happen and I surely don't want another release with a phone that performs like the 1st storm. My OG died and it looks like I will have to return my bionic and use the wife's old eris until this phone is launched.

I'm honestly starting to think we're FASTER then VZW :P

(I hope I'm wrong, but I think those still getting "yes" answers are talking to CSR's that haven't seen the E-mail that went out)

guys keep in mind it takes probably at least a day for information to move through the VZW "system"

the Exec tells the assistant to send out e-mail
the e-mail goes out (we intercept it here :P )
over the course of the 24 hours as folks check E-mail they see it
they tell those not on e-mail
etc...
 
While I still don't understand (and don't believe) that an LTE network issue has anything to do with the delay, I can say that my data is jacked up here in Iowa. LTE stays on after a reboot for a few minutes but then drops to 1x and doesn't pick back up.

Is I can totally see some CSR "forgetting" about the delay, or just plain ignoring it and selling phones on Friday.

The follow is only my opinion/analysis of available info.

1. It sounds like there are significant LTE Network stability issues.

2. I "think" this the most likely reason for the delay

3. Phones HAVE been shipped and in some cases arrived at stores.

4. 12/9 WAS OFFICIALLY announced to internal employees and retailers

and here where it gets interesting :)

5. I'm willing to bet phones WILL be sold on Friday. Maybe not a lot be some CSR or re-seller will forget / wouldn't have heard / have a "friend that wants one etc."

this goes even more so for re-sellers that have promised phones to people. They'll just say it was a mistake because of last minute change in plans...

I keep seeing this (#3), but nobody has yet proven that any store has ever received stock on this phone.
 
Considering that several AFers are still saying their non-corporate CSRs are telling them they can pick up a phone on Friday, I'm buying into the LTE problem being the cause of a possible delay. It makes perfect sense to me that Verizon would not want to release a 4G phone with spotty coverage, but the 3rd party sellers (who are not responsible for the service) have phones and are ready to make a profit.

Has anyone heard of a reseller who said they would sell on the 9th that has now changed their tune?
 
FYI, I just left my local vzw corporate store, went in to ask about my bionic having issues with 3g/4g since late last night. they took a look at it and said its likely due to LTE issues they are currently experiencing. Since I have 2 lines out of contract, they asked if I would like to get a new phone, I asked about getting the Razr, they said they can't sell me any 4G phones at the moment because they are unable to activate it due to LTE issues. they don't know when it will get resolved.

So at least in this particular store, they are currently not able to activate any 4G phones, so they are not selling any 4G phones at the moment. They attribute it to 4G connectivity issues.

they did say they have received the Gnex but are not allowed to sell it yet. They are unsure of the reason as corporate has not told them. But the tech working on my bionic said he wouldn't doubt it was related to the 4G issues they are currently experencing.
 
For what it's worth (and I'm sure it's not a ton), I just called a corp store in central Michigan. I've been calling every few days, and nobody ever knew anything—until today. The guy I got today said it would be out on Friday, and he took my name and number (and gave me his), and we made an informal appointment for me to be there at opening. I don't know if he has outdated information, or if there really is no delay after all, or even if he just knew the right words to say in order to get me in the door, but I guess we'll see on Friday.
 
One other thing I forgot to mention when I talked with the manager at my store. When he said I could take a look at the phone, he did warn that he is unable to activate it (even the demo, I asked) so there isn't much I can do with it other than hold it. Even if a store missed the memo, when they go to activate the phone, it won't work, based on what he told me.
 
Release on the 8th, the 9th, delay to the 12th... argh... My nerves are frayed... :( I need distraction. Something to take my mind off of all this so I don't keep hitting the F5 button. Anybody up for a wicked game of hang man?
