***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Long time lurker here. I'm home sick, so of course I'm spending my time reading this thread =)

I'm still rocking an OG Droid that has a slew of problems (wifi has never worked, USB port can't hold a connection, phone is tremendously slow at this point), and I've been waiting for the right phone to upgrade to ever since the Galaxy S2 was rumored to be coming to VZW waaaaay back around May. Needless to say, I was pretty miffed when they revealed that (surprise!) it was coming to every carrier BUT Verizon.

Since then I've been waiting not-so-patiently for the Nexus, and I'm basically slowly dying inside more each day. This release sure has been frustrating, though I don't really fault Verizon much since they have never officially announced a release date (leaked documents don't count as "official" to me). Hearing about the 9th made me as giddy as a schoolgirl (and I'm a dude, bro), and after a night of coughing my brains out till 5:30 I wake up to find the 9th isn't happening anymore. Sigh...

Anyway, I'd like one ticket for the hype train. Any seats left?

FYI, I just left my local vzw corporate store, went in to ask about my bionic having issues with 3g/4g since late last night. they took a look at it and said its likely due to LTE issues they are currently experiencing. Since I have 2 lines out of contract, they asked if I would like to get a new phone, I asked about getting the Razr, they said they can't sell me any 4G phones at the moment because they are unable to activate it due to LTE issues. they don't know when it will get resolved.

So at least in this particular store, they are currently not able to activate any 4G phones, so they are not selling any 4G phones at the moment. They attribute it to 4G connectivity issues.

they did say they have received the Gnex but are not allowed to sell it yet. They are unsure of the reason as corporate has not told them. But the tech working on my bionic said he wouldn't doubt it was related to the 4G issues they are currently experencing.

so ihackers crashed vzw 4g infrastructure to postpone the gnex release

Talked to corporate store at 34th st. Talked to the same guy as I did yesterday and he came in this morning with new internal communication from VZW that they were having problems with 4G connectivity issues. He told me to call him back at 11 am tomorrow. SADDDDDDDDD

Considering that several AFers are still saying their non-corporate CSRs are telling them they can pick up a phone on Friday, I'm buying into the LTE problem being the cause of a possible delay. It makes perfect sense to me that Verizon would not want to release a 4G phone with spotty coverage, but the 3rd party sellers (who are not responsible for the service) have phones and are ready to make a profit.

Has anyone heard of a reseller who said they would sell on the 9th that has now changed their tune?

Yes just got a text about 1 hour ago from a re-seller who originally told me the 9th.

I live in the chicagoland area and my Rezound has been on 3G all morning. So this may be true in my area.

I feel bad that they keep jerking you guys around. It's a great phone save for some of the bugs in the software. That's to be expected with any new phone though. Coming from a 3g phone to a 4g, the data speed is great. It also gets much better reception than my incredible did at the office which is a plus.

Maybe it wasn't an official announcement, but "December 9" on an internal memo sent out to every single Verizon store in the U.S. is a pretty big proclamation. If it doesn't come out then, it's delayed.

I say this in the kindest, most amicable fashion. Verizon has done nothing wrong, IMO. Anticipation and entitlement are two different things, and there is waaaaaaay too much of the latter in here. Every bit of annoyance and angst in here has been self-inflicted. We have poked and prodded and pried and cajoled and harrassed CSRs and inundated people with requests to pester their "sources." Verizon has never publicly announced a date. Until they do, no one in here has any reasonable basis for being angry with Verizon. Verizon is not going to do anything out of spite. Their decisions are based on maximizing the profitability of the business. It would be irresponsible of them to do otherwise. Now, one component of maximizing profits is customer satisfaction, but that comes in many forms, not just bowing to outcry. We just sound like a bunch of spoiled children who are upset because mommy won't buy is another Tonka truck. Speculating is fun. Investigating is fun. Fantasizing is fun. Reading a bunch of whining and griping is not fun.

Rant over. Understand that I share with everyone the desire and anticipation for this device. I don't share the sense of entitlement and the self-generated anger and jiltedness (yes, not a word, I know).

And as I have posted many times, by 12/15, most all of you should have this phone in your hands.

good luck

I don't even feel like I should post in this thread anymore because I have either been called names or ignored. My source has been named in this thread several times, and then his twitter has been bombarded both publicly and via DM's.

So, as my last post in this thread since I am allowed to be hated/name called without repercussions, I will only and again say this. And I am not the xxx.1.xx.1q guy.

If you are very, very lucky, you will have an opportunity to pre-order this week (as I previously posted the week of 12/5), but ultimately the Samsung i515 VZW LTE phone will not release until (AGAIN) the week of 12/12.

good night, and good bye.

i don't think teddy is the "i told you so" kinda guy, but looks like he was dead on!! bummed that he was right, but i gotta give props...

Yup but it's a one way!

Welcome to AF thanks for the post :)

Sounds good, but how does that explain emails sent to Verizon stores saying it's been delayed?

Agreed, but maybe there were some regions that were given the ok to release on the 8th instead of 9th, hence why they had to send that out today??? That would explain why I hadn't gotten a text telling me the midnight launch was thur night instead of fri night. Also, If I remember correctly, i think there were people in Texas and Louisiana in here that were saying the 8th was the day for them....which would make sense, because I'm in Oklahoma. Just a thought??

all i'm saying is that if this thing gets pushed to Monday i hope we know ahead of time so that i can either take off of work or tell my boss i'm working from home that day.

People, you MUST think realistically! If Verizon truly delayed the phone due to bugs we would NEVER see this phone. There is a point where they will push the phone out now and worry about bugfixes later. Hell, the iPhone 4S had battery life issues but Apple didn't postpone the phone release because of that.

And seriously, why do people assume the change of "12/9" to "coming soon" to be bad? Maybe they saw it was leaked and changed it so reps wouldn't tell any more customers...

Sorry, I'm being really optimistic now, but I'm also being really reasonable right now.

lol that would be nice, but please, for the love of Pete, do not count on it :D

No idea there were outages, getting 4 bars of 4g inside a building I normally have 2 with outside Detroit on a Droid Charge. Definitely no issues around here!

No offense but this is probably the most reasonable I've seen you, and I agree with what you say.
